It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Well, I faced a moral dilemma and would like to ask for an advice...

FrictionlessCoin created a thread dedicated to NEX (descendant of NXT). I had a lot of fun reading that thread but I suspect some people took NEX seriously. The problem is that if FC waits till April when Nxt source code becomes completely open, he still won't be able to generate a valid genesis block, coz Nxt uses a crypto algo modified by BCNext (this is why we collected 10 BTC for the audit). I support all cryptocurrencies and would like to help him to create a new genesis block, competition is good for the whole crypto-community. But this could look not very good to guys who own NXTs...

What would u do?

Come-from-Beyond, KLONE will need your help to create a new genesis block also.

If you help Frictionless Coin, would you consider helping KLONE?

KLONE is using an innovative new technique ('proof of clone' POC) to create an ethically sound genesis block distribution, so your help would be most appreciated.

NXT clones need to fair, but giving away coins for free to anybody who posts "interested" in an announcment thread will lead to a very high drop out rate.

NXT achieved 1% drop out rate, and that was from people who sent bitcoins.

What drop-out rate will a coin have when entry into the genesis block is gained from nothing more than typing "interested"? Too high IMO.

This is not a sandbox playground. In the world of business, when you are the first to create something, you run like hell with it hoping you have enough edge over the copy-cat competition. You really don't have time with XCB and then eMunie, skycoin and Eth around the block. You need as much edge as possible for Nxt to become a giant.

Come From Beyond :

There is a lot of FUD against Nxt, and i get it you want to help generate a better name.

Start with some serious PR reaching out to the nubs. Create a new launch date with Nexerns client and make it the official client of NXT. While you're at that, offer a bounty for a bloody sexy website redesign. Hype that shit to the max and you will see results on the markets. When the markets go up, so do more investors and buyers. You get it, a vicious circle.

These are the little steps you can take to get more organized and generate a great rep for NXT.

You have an army of supporters here, there is a lot that can be done in a short period of time.

A new video, a new article, a new guerilla whatever is not enough.

Go to big news sites, go to big bitcoin shows, go to big names to talk about NXT.

Does no-one realize that we had enough of videos and articles?

We are already sending people to the biggest Bitcoin conferences and might even get a stand and speaker position at these events, but hey we got zero NXT to do it with, so we pay from our own wallet. Isn't that nice and fair?
The guys who do all the work has to pay for it too Smiley

You and Niffy could ask for a fund reserved specially for people going to conferences and promote NXT. This could be separated from salsacz's efforts

Devise a plan with funding details, all the conferences and cost. I will support this effort.
Me too.

I will probably go too. (to Amsterdam)

The point of having freely available source is to allow both audits and changes.

If the source is available, but unusable, then it really isn't free.

I say give him the tools he needs to generate a genesis block.

Nxt has set the complete release in April before NEX start.
Just release all he want in April. Don't need to change the rule for him.

My take.
You, BCNext, and others have created something innovative and powerful, and you need to respect your shared creation. Additionally, many people have bought into your vision and staked hefty amounts of very real capital, time, effort, and care to make this new invention into something that the rest of the world values and uses. Of course we all have profit motives at work, but we also have a sense of pride and emotional ownership of NXT because of the many people like yourselves who are contributing to this project. A product is not just the source code and market share; it is the people who come together with a shared vision to make something new and good.

So, someone else comes along and wants to poach your (and others') creation simply because he fails to appreciate how the initial seed was planted. You aren't under any obligation to render assistance. You can support competing cryptocoins (and I think you should) without buying into false criticism. FC claims to be motivated by a sense of fairness, but he has no moral high ground. He is here to extract value at the expense of others, not to add it through effort, innovation, or risk. He is merely an envious interloper who brings nothing genuinely new to cryptocoins.

You are, of course, free to make your own choices of projects and allegiances. Just remember that many people are here because of what you, individually, have brought to this project. Those of us who have spent significant money (like me) and time, talent, and effort (like many others) will wonder whether you truly respect your part of this creation if you can share with a poacher the code that has come into existence through so much of your own effort. If you believe in NXT, fight for it.

Shouldn't we offer a bounty for this from the 9mil, I mean we did just spend 250k on marketing.  I also offered 100k bounty for this in the thread.

500K on marketing: 250K from Cfb and 250K from someone else.

I'm talking about offering a bounty for it, so when someone develops it, they will get Nxt.

Bounty announcement

100'000 NXT will be paid for working JavaScript code that signs and verifies signatures using NRS algo.

- The licence must allow to use the code in any application
- Sign/verify speed must be not lower than 100 signatures per second on a 1 GHz CPU (1 core)
- All the code must be in a single non-obfuscated well-formatted .js file
- Input/output values must be strings like "8302504e4e57c6c65335289879c6915a273d3aae7bd086058e403fcd2bc18341"

The bounty is valid till the 20th of January, 2014 12:00:00 UTC. The complete code must be published in this thread.

CfB, I think you're aware of the other thread about this bounty (since you've been posting there), but I'll repost here just to be safe (more information in the other thread):

Finally finished my implementation: https://github.com/Jaguar0625/JavaScriptNrs.

Thx
