Hi guys just arrived and you are discussing clients.

Marcus03, was your intention to have it closed from the very beginning? If yes, I had misunderstood it completely.

I always knew that I am not able to give out the full source code, yes. In the long run, I hope there will be APIs for all major OSes that don't need the NRS core and do everything that has to do with the secret.

Quote
Ok, in this this case I offer to develop 2 clients both Windows and OS X, both open source. My tools of choice would be Embarcadero FireMonkey. Language either Delphi or C++ Builder.

Would community be interested in this?

Do it!

What secret are you referring to? End of march everything from Java NRS will be open.

A client takes a lot of time and your so just a "Do it!" will not affect my decision. I would prefer to be part of a team. I am over my 35 and cannot go for 14 hour workdays any more.

I can help with decent GUI for desktop and seeing you work on Delphi triggered my offer to help. I completely missed tho closed source part of this.

So I am looking forward so see if others suggest QT and then that is what we should aim for.

Not sure if people are aware but max withdrawl on BTER is only 200 NXT per day. So if you plan on buying or selling a lot just keep that in mind - hopefully  they raise it. Maybe they're testing things still.

So where to buy in large quantity?

i wouldn't buy large quantity from dgex. you will move the market too much in the process of buying. try here first and dgex as last resort https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345336

If one can not confer upon another a right which he does not himself first possess, by what means does the state derive the right to engage in behaviors from which the public is prohibited?

Also if anyone received bounties for their client and the source code is not to be released they have a moral obligation to return those bounties unless it was explicitely stated before receiving them.

Thank you, but I prefer to define my moral obligations myself.

Apart from that: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4362239#msg4362239

I agree with Marcus03 ... you can do it. Marcus03 and i doing our clients without any rewards.
dotNXT (my client implementation) will be open source but not at this moment.

Marcus03 have done a really good job on making the nice looking client which uses the original client. I do not understand why are you trying to push him to open the source.

Isn't it Marcus03's right not to open the source?

there was a bounty if not received give it time, BCNext will pay them.

Minimum order amount to prevent the book being slammed most likely.

I was trying to sell smth around 3000 NXT, that's not too small...

Hey,

what do you mean exactly with review and articels?
Do i get the NXT when i promote NXT on Big german forums too?
Where are over 100k Users?

Second Question.
When i can make it that the biggest german News Site (100 million too 1 billion clicks in a month) write about NXT (bild.de), how much NXT do i get?

The idea of promoting Nxt via Bild is ridiculous. Our audience is not the yellow press readers.
this is just dumb.

I also am not looking for awards, I just want NXT to succeed. I cannot contribute to other coins that I have heavily invested in but NXT I ca. My problem is limited time that I can for development.

And you do have all rights to keep it closed, only then make it clear for others. I thought everything is open source here, and where it is not is is disclaimed, like NRS code will become in April.
If 3rd party is issue, maybe the functionality you use from these libraries can be brought into open source? Do not take it personal, as I say open source for this kind of project was so obvious that I even did not ask about it.
Was too assuming.

Re-posting my Public Service Announcement:

If you are new to Nxt and don't want to read through 1048 pages of posts, come to the wiki:
- Learn about Nxt
- Get started
- get basic questions answered in the FAQ and common problems pages
- Learn how to set up a public node on a VPS, using laowai80's steps
- read up on the Nxt high-level API, which you can use to build apps, games, clients, utilities, and more
- find additional resources for programmers, including suggested methods for handling transactions, a PHP library, and more.
- check out the current draft version of the Nxt whitepaper, which is being built and refined by top community contributors (it's still rough, but there's lots of great content already)

Also remember there are great forums with lots of info and support for beginners. Many of the best Nxt wiki articles are based on information originally contributed here:
- The nxtcrypto.org forum
- The nextcoin.org forum

Wiki contributors pull information from these threads every day to keep the wiki up to date. You can also help contribute, or translate.

This thread is long and daunting for new folks, and most of the conversation here is not helpful for beginners.  So don't get frustrated -- come to the places where new folks are welcomed and pampered!

I admin the Nxt Wiki at http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/ Please support my work by donating to Nxt account #1234567740944417915

About 13 million people read the Bild in germany everyday, when only 1000 people jump on the nxt train, it would be a success.
What is so wrong at it too post an article at big news sites?

Peercover announces 6 ripple bridges:

https://ripple.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5498

Peercover today announces the launch of six bridges in the Peercover client: Bitcoin, Litecoin, NXT, Peercoin, Namecoin, and USD.
These bridges are standardized to be used with any Ripple client provided institutions maintaining clients choose to include them.
When our latest funding round closes we will be able to provide better liquidity and the bridges will have more utility.
****

My understanding is that a ripple bridge allows automatically converting (with user prompt) IOUs in ripple wallet to an external address.

The community and those that paid the bounties will determine your moral obligation.

My work began before bounty announcements(as well as Marcus03's IIRC), and while I don't have a whole lot of "code" involved with mine, payment for my work was never part of my motivation. Anything received (3501 NXT to be exact) was at the discretion of the donors (Thanks, BTW, whoever you are!) and requires no moral obligation on the part of any recipient. I don't believe he ever hid that his client was not open source...at least it's not a surprise to me.

Full disclosure: I have not received (nor do I expect) a bounty for my work, only personal donations.

Besides BTER, was NXT added anywhere else?

Did anyone anticipate this? CFB?
