What is your opinion on that?

Salsa, Pin, could u both stop these insults?
+ 10 We are all on the same side. I think that one of the problems here is that people are very willing to talk the talk, but not so quick to get off their asses and walk the walk. We need people for Berlin, now.So, if anyone can commit to helping on the Berlin conference, get in touch, form a working group and start making some decisions..... Even if u get it slightly wrong, it's better than missing the opportunity.

What is your opinion on that? I think it's a bad approach. We should rely on protocol version.

Hi, just a little suggestion, could we use something other than BTT (like new Nxt subreddit /r/nxt) to post whatever idea, polling, etc. I still dont understand why u guys still post it either in this 1000+ post thread or create another thread in this clusterf*ck BTT announcement section. It gives me headache everytime i need to look for something related to Nxt. At least, made a copy/mirror whatever topics to another place that dedicated to this project. That would be very great for noobs to look for any information regarding Nxt. We're so decentralized, yet we still use just one thread to post everything.

Actually using ZLIB might not be the best idea, better would be something that's faster. I'd go with LZ4. There's also lzturbo, but, lz4 has format that might be nicer for "small devices" (raspis & Co.)
And ChuckOne is right, binary protocol equals problems
Compression looks like a premature optimization to me. Let's make things more complicated when we actually need it. Isn't maintaining two protocols making things more complicated? Using a binary protocol looks to me like a premature optimization because you sacrifice all the advantages of a text-based protocol and buy in pitfalls. Just because you want to have more TPS although the current way is much faster than Bitcoin itself. Anyway, I think you have heard the opinions from some guys that are from the industry knowing the problems with binary protocols. How you are going to appreciate that experience remains to be seen. Regardless which way you decide, please always choose the most secure one. And remember: nobody's perfect, especially not programmers. **EDIT: PAGE 1440**

Using a binary protocol looks to me like a premature optimization because you sacrifice all the advantages of a text-based protocol and buy in pitfalls. Just because you want to have more TPS although the current way is much faster than Bitcoin itself. Half of the protocol is binary already. Transactions are converted to byte array, then byte array converted to hex string, then that string is passed to JSON. Most part of data is byte arrays anyway: hashes, signatures... AMs is byte arrays completely. JSON is just overload, IMHO.

ok I agree here. I like you and you have done a lot. But Salsa as well, he was even very active with marketing things, that did not cost any money. Like contacting the biggest german altcoinblog, if they will bring something. And they did, for free. 0 Nxt spent but big return in the german community. So no reason at all to blame Salsa here, he have done a great job for Nxt -> as you did.

@ salsacz or anybody who has an overview:
Do we need money for the next conferences and until now, we don't have it?
There is this list, it is only a guess, but could be +- fine: Conference fund for year 2014:Looking for 210.000 Nxt + 20.000 Nxt for each boothMore Nxt = more materials for booths NxtMarketing acc: 2037401990853753795 All payments and donations are transparent (we accept anonymous donators too): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgAGADgnQcrtdHRrV3V3Z1lzOXVEMWtqdElUaEtqV1E#gid=15Miami: - Spent $ 800 and ticket for Nifty, supported by Nifty + Justa (maybe we should pay Nifty at least 10.000 nxt) Berlin tickets: - 100 Euro McJavar - funded 15,304 NXT ( http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=11433600460445633305) - l8orre - local (= ticket only) - admiral.fu ("My main interest to be there is BTC"), 1) designing/printing 10 T-shirts for me and other nexters - Bitventurer - from Hamburg - Salsacz - from South Bohemia - narknark (?) - from Hamburg = ?x (3000 Nxt) + 1-?x travel+hotel (1-4000 Nxt) = 10-30.000 Nxt Texas: Tickets: 1x $275 (maybe a discount for speaker) = 0-5.000 NXT rickyjames (SPEAKER?) - $614.92 for hotel etc = 12.000 Nxt - Asian Prepper - Leon Fu Current cost: 27.000 NXT New York (April 7/8) - jefdiesel=brooklynbtc Networking Pass = $10 Total cost 5.000 nxt Toronto (April 11/13) - Joefox Total cost - 1-5.000 nxt Amsterdam (May) - cryptocoinNL - Damelon - Cryptomenn - Edward Snowden (?) - EvilDave - titan20 - Bitventurer - salsacz (??) Other coins could be borrowed from the same acc from NxtMarketing, but it would be nice to give them back, because conferences have too high budget. There is already a loan for the radio spot (currently 250k). In past there were big discussions about funds, so I quickly published this acc, where I already had 100k before CFB's donation, so then I sent them to the different account. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgAGADgnQcrtdHRrV3V3Z1lzOXVEMWtqdElUaEtqV1E#gid=15
