Total Voters:  230  Shocked

Pretty strange result... I had like 4 votes just a few hours ago...

I know something strange happend... but can we find ourselves in the results?

I got a proof that one guy offered to fake the result by using a lot of sockpuppet accounts. He asked for part of the reward. We shouldn't use reward polls next time.

This time I'll send 22'857 NXT to each account.

DONE

Thank you very much. I think it's a shame that this happened.

I will create a vote system the next days based on transactions.

The vote creator can choose the following optional parameters to prevent fakes:
- NXT amount (e.g. a NXT account is only able to vote if he holds 500 NXT)
- Account age (e.g. a NXT account is only able to vote if the first transaction is older than 10 days)

I won't use the 1NXT=1Vote system, but I won't use the 1acc=1vote system either. I think I will use a modified root function so that small account holders have a few votes (e.g. 2), medium account holders have a few more votes (e.g. 5) and big account holders have again a few more votes (e.g. 7)

I will look into the mathematics tomorrow.

It will work in the way, that the account owner has to send 1 NXT to an automatic created NXT ID where only I have the password for.

These NXTs will be used for advertisements on reddit for /r/Nxt and the whole Nxt ecosystem.

I hope that this will be used.. I will just do it, because currently we are talking to much, instead of doing it.

Edit: Regarding the votes, maybe I will do it like this: Each new place of the NXT amount will give 1 new vote. Example:

5 NXT brings 1 vote
67 NXT brings 2 votes
862 NXT brings 3 votes
5349 NXT brings 4 votes
96432 NXT brings 5 votes

And so on..

Good news, swartzfeger is so kind and will give me the domain nxtvote.com.

I will use it for the voting system. In this way no service of mine will get into the way. Smiley

Guys, how do you think, are there 10M "unclaimed" coins actually exist? Maybe it's just a BCNext's stake which he is giving up to the community just to make us stronger, pick trusted memebrs, decide what to do with the funds etc.

Will there be one account for 3 guys or 3 guys with respectively 1/3 funds in their accounts?

If distribution (ratio) of the unclaimed funds has already been decided, then I think it's easier to let each handle one fund (Easier for accountability and record keeping).
If distribution of unclaimed funds has not been decided, and it's going to be another long debate over it, I suggest divide it equally and they will reallocate once the ration has been decided.

OMG, why are people so near-sighted? Every decision has a ethical component.  Just not taking care of the energy-consumption of cryptocurrencies doesn't makes this blindness unpolitical. You can't live in this world without taking place in a causal chain!

Pouncer's Proposal was three different accounts, one for each treasurer.

Marketing = 3 million
infrastructure = 1 million or cost to deploy hubs needed for 1000TPS
tech = ~6 million - infrastructure

Hi NXTers

I'm still trying to runs NRS on android TV stick. I'm at 99% of work done. Ubuntu is running, Java installed. OK:

1. Started start.jar without any .nxt. Everything went smooth until block 22001, then java aborted.
2. Copied .nxt files from my other PC to the stick, started java.jar and after "Scanning blockchain..." BUMP, error is something like this:

A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime environment:

Internal error (os_linux_zero.cpp:285). pid=10388, tid=1090630768
fatal error: caught unhandled signal 11

JRE version: 7.0_25-b30
Java VM: OpenJDK Zero VM (23.7-b01 mixed mode linux-arm)
Core dump written. Default location :/home/ubuntu/Desktop/nxt/core or core.18388

Any thoughts from dev how to get rid of this problem?

Marketing has been decided at 3 million
Tech/Infrastructure the remaining 6 million. Once we know the cost for the 1000TPS hubs, then we will know the right allocation between tech and infrastructure.

James....lets increase marketing funds by 50% ...make it cool 4.5 million....1.5 can be used in 2nd year.

No. community already decided on 3 million. Plus I have a LOT of new tech ideas that will require funding that will make the marketing money go a lot further

block 22000 sounds familiar. Was it aliases that kicked in? Maybe buffer overflow from a long alias string?

Yep, also if the marketing campaign is successful (and this lies in your own hands) then even 1M NXT will be SO MUCH money. The NXT amount you have should be enough for years to come.

Marketing = 3 million
infrastructure = 1 million or cost to deploy hubs needed for 1000TPS
tech = ~6 million - infrastructure

What the hell is "infrastructure fund"? Why money is being juggled so easily?

That 1 million will appreciate significantly if we do things right, so why such arbitrary decisions are taken so lightly?  Huh

That should be a part of tech and tech will decide how much is needed to support the network, not some arbitrary round number.

And I want a fiscal conservative, like rickyjames to have at least a veto power, so we won't burn through all this money in a month! This radio deal we've got into so quickly doesn't look particularly bright.

Also, giving the rich more money in addition to their original stakes doesn't seem right. At least for outsiders it won't look good, we already have the distribution accusations...

I would rather see an independent trustees, who are not the original stakeholders.

We need decentralization, not concentration of power in the hands of a few.

A bureaucracy is "a body of nonelective government officials" and/or "an administrative policy-making group."[1] Historically, bureaucracy referred to government administration managed by departments staffed with nonelected officials.[2] In modern parlance, bureaucracy refers to the administrative system governing any large institution.

<head rises slowly from trench, looks around cautiously...>

Is it safe to come out now ?

This is just gonna be a very quick post, then back into my nice safe trench to get some work done.

I was stupid. Sorry,
I really thought that if i proposed a carbon-offset project that had almost nothing to do with the C02/anthropogenic global warming issue, that we could both promote NXT and do some good in the wider world. Reforestation and cleaner cooking tech for the developing world, how evil is that?

Well, we all saw how that turned out. I think that, as a European, I really don't get how divisive this issue is for the US.
I know that if I walked into a marketing meeting in any Euro-based business and made the same proposal, everyone would yawn and tell me that they'd done that last year and could I come up with something original. It's just so not an issue here......

But I'm not going to give up on the core idea: get some good publicity/marketing for NXT via green issues and/or doing good things.
I'm  going to go thru all of the feedback I've had, (positive + negative) and see if we can work something out that keeps all sides happy.
Or close to happy. I'm willing to discuss every aspect of my proposal, given some constructive feedback.

If anyone still feels the need to call me a mealy-mouthed, environmentalist, commie Al Gore on a mission to guilt trip everyone for being human and steal all of your money to give to abortion clinics, I'll be back on in a few hours. Save it till then.........

“Strive to make proposed solutions as self-executing as possible. As the degree of discretion increases, so too does bureaucracy, delay, and expense.”
-“Bureaucracy is the death of all sound work”
-“Bureaucracy is the art of making the possible impossible”
-“In any bureaucracy, paper work increases as you spend more and more time reporting on the less and less you are doing”
-“You will never understand bureaucracies until you understand that for bureaucrats procedure is everything and outcomes are nothing.”
