Even if other crypto is far better than bitcoin in terms of technical functions, bitcoin is still the most popular and has more people using it. It's all about network size. Because your question is related to price speculation, I don't think there is an altcoin now that can replace Bitcoin and take the throne. You can example of Ripple, Ethereum, Dash, Litcoin and many others also.If you compare their market cap than you wjll get to know that their cap is more than bitcoins.
