I am getting huge numbers of rejected/discarded shares on both Slushpool and on Nanopool, and no hashrate is reported on either pool.  Tried for over an hour on each pool.

I've mined ZCash on GPUs on both of these pools since the first day that GPU miners were available and both have been rock solid.

Are others able to run Z9 on either of these 2 pools?  Should I choose a different pool for running ASIC?

(I'm a "newbie" because my account got hacked and I locked it.  Never bothered to go thru the recovery process.)

Unless you only want to mine ZEC, you can join my pool here(ZCL, ZEN, ZEL, BTCP); https://www.powermining.pw/site/gomining?algo=equihash Ive personally not had a single rejected share in over 30 hours now. ;-)

I received my Z9 Mini today and I'm happy to say it is up and running.  Looking at Vosk's video, in the Antminer he was seeing 11,415 Discarded (shares?).  I am seeing the same thing and was curious what this is and if it is something to worry about or that needs to be addressed.  What does "Discarded" signify?  This is different than rejected.  Should I be concerned?

It's normal. I would only worry about it if you were seeing a huge amount of rejected shares as well.

Flypool - I had used Flypool about a year ago and had a tiny residual balance there, so I pointed the Z9 over there and we're off to the races.  Cranking out shares!!

What does "Discarded" signify?  This is different than rejected.  Should I be concerned?

I did some digging in the history of CGMiner - My interpretation of that discussion is that Discarded shares are shares that were "scheduled" to be run, but were discarded because pool provided new work.  According to the earlier discussion, these do not represent any lost work.

My third pool seems to report dead no matter which pool I set it to.  But, I don't think it is actually dead since it still reports getworks.  Anyone else have that issue?

3rd pool?  Why does this even matter?  This is your 2nd backup.  If Pool 0 is not responding, it tries Pool 1.  IF that one fails, then Pool 2 (third one) comes into play.  99.99% of your traffic should be going to Pool 0, and 0.0000001% might go on Pool 2.  Unless you have pools with problems.  Then you need a different pool.

Newbie Here.... Does anyone know what will happen to Z9 now since ZCASH announced overwinter Hard Fork. Is my ASIC useless now. I ordered just today & seems like i am regretting it now. Can it be minted any where else Huh? Sad

650OC impressive little miner, 14KS/s local and prohashing reporting 13KS/s 2 hour average:

http://imgur.com/u360K4n

It's hot in the garage right now, will test 750 when the temp drops tonight but pretty happy with speed/temps/power usage at 650.  Imagine a BTC miner that quoted 14.0TH/s but could OC to 19.6TH!  That's what this guy basically does!

Hopefully i can ROI this cute little guy, if not he's small enough to stick almost anywhere, maybe some work stealth mining making $0.10 a day Wink

Anyone have any luck with pointing this at NICEHASH?

Not getting any accepted shares.

Is their Equihash pool not updated since the upgrade that was taking place?

Where does it say anything about Overwinter including a hard fork?

What's your ambient temperatures?  I'm running a lot warmer at 650MHz.  But Ambient is about 100F.

Overwinter does not affect the mining algorithm.  Z9's are powering on.

You should be good for at least the next few months regarding the algo change hard-forks.

Basically the overwinter hard fork was a software upgrade and they didn't do anything related to the mining algo; most likely because the ASIC release came out just recently a few months ago and they didn't want to go back a step.

If they do fork, they will do it most likely with their next release which can be months and months away.

However your enemy right now will be the other coins which fork off like Bitcoin Gold and more ASICs will turn to ZEC. Then the difficulty will keep increasing.

Another issue is we have no idea how many of these ASICs will be built in total. It could be 3x the total network hashrate at the moment. And in that case they would be unprofitable very quickly.

Basically its a risk, there is nothing risk free in life. Just get the ASIC as early as possible and mine away.

is it winter where you live too?

I'm going 650M frequency for a day then ramping to full 750M.
