Version 1.5 Released. Version 1.5 is a mandatory upgrade, so please upgrade as soon as possible to avoid a fork. Version 1.5 fixes the superblock issue, making Graincoin the first coin ever to generate superblock in a truely random way. This will eliminate the hackers from getting most of the superblocks. Version 1.5 also includes some minor bug fixes. The switchover point is set at block 310000, which will be in about 5-7 days (we are at block 277100 now). Download links for Windows Client and source in github are updated.
Please vote Graincoin for being added to exchanges: For cryptsy: https://cryptsy.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/44936 A grain is a unit of measurement of mass that is nominally based upon the mass of a single seed of a cereal. From the Bronze Age into the Renaissance the average masses of wheat and barley grains were part of the legal definition of units of mass. However, there is no evidence of any country ever having used actual seeds or cereal grains. Rather, expressions such as "thirty-two grains of wheat, taken from the middle of the ear" appear to have been ritualistic formulas, essentially the premodern equivalent of legal boilerplate.
- from Wikipedia Graincoin (GRA) Graincoin is a PoW/PoS coin that is designed to be the unit of cyber-coin. It has a total of 50 billion unit to be released, through a fair p2p mining process. It is fast, secure and have sufficient coins for circulation so it can be used in real daily shopping. Graincoin is from the family of PPCoin/Novacoin with latest available algorithms that fixed various problems in the PoW/PoS coins. As compared to the PoW only coins, the proof of stake coins are more resilient to 51% attack. Also it is a long term energy-efficient crypto-currency since not all coins are obtained by mining. Each graincoin block provides random 1024 - 2048 grains initially. It also provides rare superblocks. The coin uses hash-based algorithm to determine superblocks based on the number of 9s in the previous block hash. It works as follows: - the hash contains six 9s or less: regular block - the hash contains seven or eight 9s: 8 times the regular block (about 5% chances) - the hash contains nine or more 9s: 64 times the regular block (about 1% chances) Premined 1% as reserved bounty and reward for developers, giveaway, pool, blockexplorer, etc. Graincoin also provides 5% annual interest on the grained held. The interest will be paid about every 2 weeks. Specifications - scrypt - 30 seconds block target - 1024-2048 grains per block for normal blocks - 8 times or 64 times the regular payout per block for super blocks depends on the number of 9s in the previous hash - Difficulty retargets every block - mining payout will be halved every 90 days (259200 blocks) - minimum payout per block 1 coin - Total grains will be 50 billions - 6 confirmations for transaction - 50 confirmations for minted blocks - Ports: 11054 (connection) and 11055 (RPC) Official websites: http://www.graincoin.nethttp://www.graincoin.orghttp://www.graincoin.infohttp://graincoin.webs.com/Graincoin is on CoinMarketCap:http://coinmarketcap.com/Graincoin on Cryptoarticles:http://www.cryptoarticles.com/crypto-news/2014/1/25/coinpayments-now-supports-grainhttp://www.cryptoarticles.com/crypto-news/2014/1/15/grain-the-future-unit-of-cyber-coinhttp://www.cryptoarticles.com/crypto-news/2014/1/18/grain-new-wallet-released-version-14http://www.cryptoarticles.com/crypto-news/2014/1/23/grain-more-valuable-than-yould-thinkExchangesCoinedup.com:GRA/BTC: https://coinedup.com/OrderBook?market=GRA&base=BTCGRA/LTC: https://coinedup.com/OrderBook?market=GRA&base=LTCSwissCoin Exchange:GRA/LTC: https://www.swisscex.com/market/GRA_LTCGRA/XPM: https://www.swisscex.com/market/GRA_XPMGRA/DOGE: https://www.swisscex.com/market/GRA_DOGEMining Poolsudjin123's Stratum's Mining Poolhttp://gra.forkpool.com/stratum registration needed PPS fee 0% DAOneG's Grainer Poolhttp://grainers.net/STRATUM: stratum+tcp://grainers.net PORT: 3333 Block Explorerhttp://gra.livechains.net/explorer/block_crawler.phphttp://coinblockchain.com/grain/ Shops, Services, Games that accept GRACoinpayments:https://www.coinpayments.net/Graincoin is supported by Coinpayments, which provides wonderful tools and utilities to accept Graincoin as payments for the shops, services. According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

there was a time when a new coin release was exciting they had fancy names ....times have changed. I can remember when I launched i0coin years ago, everyone (almost) were expecting the release and it was a challenge for me to fork it as at the time no documentation was available like today's step-by-step guides to fork bitcoin. Today there are so much coins that the names are getting scarce lol

This coin at least works correctly, compared with the others released recently. Still, this is getting out of control. I can count about 8 coins released this week alone. More than one per day. We shouldn't pay a single bit of attention to clonecoins which don't bring anything new to the cryptocurrency world...

All of them can't statically compile the client and release the coin along with hundreds of DLLs

So am I doing anything wrong if all I'm seeing is "New block detected" "Network difficulty set to 0" over and over and over and 0 Accept/Reject messages? I have 700KH/s. Am I just not fast enough to get any work before a new block is detected? Actually I did manage to find 1 block, but then it said "Pool 0 communication resumed" and then "Rejected BLOCK!". Not sure what that was about either.
