Should Dogecoin Merge Mine with Litecoin, AND have to be the one that Hard Forks??

I say we should. I think this will only take dogecoin to the next level of exposure. For example:

When the pool I mined btc on commenced merge mining of btc and namecoin, I mentioned that this was great for namecoin as it would give it a large base of exposure and use and ultimately value. And sure enough more user, exposure and value, at one point it had gone from .30 cents to $8 dollars. I think the benefit to dogecoin would be great that what it was for namecoin.

1 vote for merge mining.

You can't really have too many coins. Doge is not infinite and it is mined at right amount.

Bitcoin have completely opposite problem hehe Wink

It's a Doge with fleas for now.

I never thought my life could be. Anything but catastrophe. But suddenly I begin to see. A "BIT" of good luck for me. Cause I've got a golden ticket!

Any news about Dogecoin wallet update due to OpenSSL bug?

I have seen nothing from the devs yet and I don't want to spread FUD.
I'm assuming the existing client 1.6 is not at risk, but the new 1.7 beta client (based off of bitcoin core 0.9.0) probably is.
Again, i'm just guessing here and am probably full of dogeshit.   Grin

Thanks!   Looks like the only issue is if you are running RPC over SSL.

Dogecoin cannot survive without a strong network.  And if Doge does not either move to a merge-mined model, or adopt a new algorithm, the network will get attacked into non-existence with upcoming scrypt ASIC equipment.

Litecoin holds the crown for scrypt - that's obvious by both market cap and network hashrate.  Unless the dogecoin community honestly thinks it can surpass Litecoin's hashrate and marketcap this year, or doge moves to being merge-mined, it will die.

I have a feeling the Dogecoin dev's are going to learn a lesson with the upcoming block halving.  If we don't see a merge-mined doge soon, it will be a huge waste to watch the dogecoin network and community die this year.

"Mainstream people" doesn't make sense - how can a person be a common thought of a majority?  That makes absolutely no sense.

And, who cares?  Some small-time low market-cap adoption isn't going to help anything.

merged mining is the way to go in order to stay relevant and more powerful against network attacks, especially since Litecoin has about 2 or 3 times the hashing power dogecoin does.

1 vote for merge mining here. It was good for namecoin, so shall it be for dogecoin

+1.  Glad to see some people have a clue about dogecoin's future...  There seem to be a lot of people around that don't understand crypto currencies well enough to see that a non-merge-mined coin cannot survive if it has significantly less hashrate then the leading coin using that proof of work algorithm.

I hope the dev team smartens up and moves to a merge-mined model preferably before the next block halving.  Every block halving that passes is going to weaken the doge network significantly, and the price is likely to fall with it.

Doge has attracted new people to crypto, who knew nothing about BTC.

I agree with your former statement... but, I strongly disagree that it matters.  This follows pretty basic logic.  A first experience driving might be in an old ford beater... that certainly does not mean you're going to use that car exclusively - in fact, now that you know how to drive and understand some basics about vehicles, you'll probably move to a nicer car.

Just because someone first learns about distributed currencies because of Doge, hardly means they won't move on to stronger networks like bitcoin or litecoin.
