no, my pool is not official and works from 10 months without problem with EMC right now.

The coin-swap exchange had some major problems + change of ownership recently. That may have contributed, not to mention the recent crash on almost all altcoins and BTC.

I think EMC is currently trading at below the exchange rate guaranteed by http://emc.cc.st/, so it could be a good chance to grab some cheap EMC via the coin-swap exchange.

From what I know, the dev team is working hard on adding new features and innovations through the coming year. I would be surprised if it was over
