Hi all

whats your current cat coins earnings for mining ? my 750 kh/s rig does 30 cat/ day .. i find it too low... Sad

That's what I'd expect for that hashrate. I'm on a meagre 250kh/s, and you're doing a lot better than me with that hashpower. I'm at this rate maybe 5-7 cat/day.

Oh yeah. It's perfectly normal. It took a big leap even after the first night. The coin difficulty is the same as Bitcoin's I believe.

This is an unusual coin.  It has a good community following but a nearly nonexisting development support.

I have a CAT and a KITTEH pool up for anyone who would like to mine these new coins.
Both are vardiff stratum, PROP with only a %0.5 fee.

CAT
http://cat.notnull.org/
Everything you need to know is here: http://cat.notnull.org/
Make sure your miners are using port 3333

KITTEH
Everything you need to know is here: http://kit.notnull.org:81/
Make sure your miners are using port 3334

STRATUM:   stratum+tcp://kit.notnull.org:3334

If you don't specify :81 in your browser you will be on the CAT pool, not the KITTEH MEOW pool.

Why don't you just configure virtual hosts in your Apache config? No need to use two ports! That leaves too much room for user error.

I mean, I will be not rich, but at least I have something in hand.
Hoping for a blackjack catcoin service soon. Possibly provably fair.

In the catcoin cryptovalley pool's dashboard it says: OVERVIEW CAT/USD: 19.52 (!).
Where does this crazy price come from?

The default USD conversion ticker in PHP-MPOS is configured to point to a URL that fetches litecoin price, but there's no ticker to change it to for catcoin now. The admin can't do anything about it. (Short of editing the PHP and disabling that altogether)

Ok guys, since nobody here knows anything about marketing, I'm going to list the three main problems about catcoin and the solutions to said problems:

1)  Nobody likes cats except women and homosexuals. - Everyone likes Doge, nobody likes cats.  Cats are useless and untrustworthy animals.  If you're drowning in a lake, the cat doesn't care and you're going to die.  Doge will save you.

2)  Demographics - The demographics of Bitcoin are highly slanted towards western civilization & Russia.  Nobody really knows what the hell Russia is, but it's close enough to the west.  Anyway, western marketing is going to favor things such as strength, loyalty, value, utility, etc.  In Russia, nobody is saying "oh, he is strong like cat".  The cats are all dead because they're weak and the Russian chased them down and grilled them instead of waiting in the bread line.

3)  Doge - Doge is not very good at fighting, but a house cat cannot beat Doge.  Doge is too strong.

Since cats are useless for pretty much anything and have zero positive qualities, the only way for catcoin to be marketed is by fear and intimidation.  The useless house cat has to be upgraded to a larger cat that actually has some kind of admirable characteristics such as strength and speed.  All of the useless cat imagery posted so far needs to be upgraded to images such as the following:

So. Let me sum it up.

1) This coin had a fork recently, not good.
2) This coin has a wallet that doesn't really work very well, unless you fiddle with VBS files and other clunky stuff (how user friendly...)
3) This coin is an obvious rip and plays on "DOGE" theme. If that is it's main redeeming quality then I don't think this coin will have a very long life.
4) This coin lacks any form of target, direction, organisation.
5) The coin's website is currently down. Great.
6) The Wallet is hard to find (official mirrors seem...the ABC of 'launch-ur-altcoin' scriptbook, but ok)
7) The Wallet has a virus indication TROJ_GE.702F8FAD . It is of a different type from other Wallet's false positives, which concerns me.
Cool The developer does not seem to be very fast to respond to concerns, issues and troubles.
9) This just seems to be CTRL-F & replace name in some random altcoin data, then launch as your own coin and get-rich-quick-scheme complete.

So this coin lacks all qualities the majority of altcoins DO have. The only thing going for it is it's play on the "DOGE" meme which does not provide sufficient long-term grounds.

Effectively this seems to be a poorly thought out, poorly maintained and poorly executed alt-coin of the umph-th type. There is nothing distinguishable about it, and many things to criticize.

Not providing a functioning wallet out of the box, mirrors for said wallet seem to be the most glaring issues that this coin has. It shows the _absolute_ and utter incompetence of the developer in charge.

Please feel free to correct me of I am wrong - I'd be happy to be wrong about this coin. But I do think a word of warning seems to be in place right now.
