Ok guys, since nobody here knows anything about marketing, I'm going to list the three main problems about catcoin and the solutions to said problems:
1) Nobody likes cats except women and homosexuals. - Everyone likes Doge, nobody likes cats. Cats are useless and untrustworthy animals. If you're drowning in a lake, the cat doesn't care and you're going to die. Doge will save you.
2) Demographics - The demographics of Bitcoin are highly slanted towards western civilization & Russia. Nobody really knows what the hell Russia is, but it's close enough to the west. Anyway, western marketing is going to favor things such as strength, loyalty, value, utility, etc. In Russia, nobody is saying "oh, he is strong like cat". The cats are all dead because they're weak and the Russian chased them down and grilled them instead of waiting in the bread line.
3) Doge - Doge is not very good at fighting, but a house cat cannot beat Doge. Doge is too strong.
Since cats are useless for pretty much anything and have zero positive qualities, the only way for catcoin to be marketed is by fear and intimidation. The useless house cat has to be upgraded to a larger cat that actually has some kind of admirable characteristics such as strength and speed. All of the useless cat imagery posted so far needs to be upgraded to images such as the following:

It's hard to see with tainted glasses on, elbow-deep in many watt's of mining power stuck in the back side of some alt-coin. I've been there  So no, did not sell any (Sadly, because these hyperinflated prices are quite attractive I must admit!). Either way, your short and off-topic reply do seem to imply you have no valid response to my questions. That makes them even more valid and concerning. |

Just honestly critical, as well as a bit annoyed by the fact that something as basic as the wallet is not working well. New version of the Qt wallet in the OP. It improved the network bootstrap on first launch and I also added the missing dll file. Please test it and let me know how it goes |

1-Please add the links to cryptsy and coins-e to the initial post as I sent you those in pm as you asked, CAT need support in cryptsy
2-Wallet load screen is still Litecoin and the wallet overall design not the best, I understand you didn't have the time or maybe it's not your expertise but offered to help and proposed stuff, they can make you a loading screen and you can just add it
3-POOLs : please switch the order or temporary remove the pools with the biggest harshrate, Poolerino for example has around 800Mh/s that's more than 51% of the network capacity and cryptovallet is not far behind with 400Mh/s, so at least new people join other pool and spread those hash rate a bit
4-Initiat a give away thread, or bit miners can do this (I would have done if I had enough catcoin but right now I have less 100 even if I did start mining since the begining but meh)

How can i update my old wallet without loosing my coins? I think you just need to keep the wallet.dat. Get confirmation on that. If in doubt, backup the entire catcoin folder in your Users/Name/AppData/Roaming directory. |

go to your Roaming folder by typing %appdata% in the search under start... then into catcoin folder and delete all files but wallet.dat and peers.dat then run the new wallet and new files will download

kr105 - I'd strongly suggest you start offering some bounties if possible. I'm sure many would happily donate catcoins towards decent bounties for an improved wallet, giveaways, etc.

How can i update my old wallet without loosing my coins? +1 type in command line: %appdata% Go to catcoin map, copy/paste wallet.dat and catcoin.conf onto desktop. Delete catmap in %appdata%. Delete old version qt. Install new one. Run QT and close. Replace new wallet.dat with old one in %appdata% and copy/paste catcoin.conf back to %appdata% Profit! |
