I've cashed out buddies. Not bad for 12 hours of mining. 30 BTC..........

EDIT: I mean 32 BTC.

I think I've made 1/64th of that, only a piddly 800Mhash here/
I made about 2BTC in 16 hours on 1 ghash. smoothie must be sitting on quite the hardware setup.

Actually I only have 4 GH/s in hardware.

Hmm, ok. Then I guess you have 6990's or something like that. Either that or very low latency. How many SolidCoins did you manage to get? I got about a thousand in 12 hours on 1gh.

I'm not so sure about that. I started at launch on i0coins and made practically nothing. It appears in order to grab a large chunk at launch you need either very fast cards (6990's) or very low latency. My three 5850's don't seem to cut it.

well i0coins were different they launched at a huge pool(200gh/s) and when SoC launched there was only like 700mh/s at the pool it was a big difference. i mined about 10k SoC

When i was mining IXCoin around launch, it did seem like my 6990 was pulling more blocks compared to my 5830's, but it could've just been variance.

Without any reference for the value of SolidCoin, I decided to value them at 1 USD. Since starting to accept SolidCoin yesterday, I've sold 4 Arimaa sets and 2 books. This was more than I was expecting, so maybe I've valued SC too high. Any suggestions on how to value a new currency when there is no exchange market to set the price.

CoinHunter, please add me to your bounty list of merchants accepting SolidCoin.

You probably have.  I know I am ready to buy a set at that price!  lol

I would price something to start with at 0.001 or so of a bitcoin probably.   Then you can see how it is trading on one of the *coin to bitcoin exchanges and then base your price off of the right percent of your btc price.

The orders are flooding in now; I might run out of stock at this rate :-) I didn't realize there was already an exchange at https://scexchange.bitparking.com/ (should have paid more attention to the changes on the bounty page). I don't know why people are valuing SC so low (around .0013 per BTC now with BTC = 11 USD; so about 0.01 USD per SC). I've adjusted my price now to 1 SC = 0.1 USD, so I wouldn't be so far from the market, but still valuing them 10x the market.

How did you determine that?

take the current difficulty and put it into the generic standard bitcoin generation calculator to find out how long it will take you on average to create a block of 32 solid coins. Then I took the number of solid coins that I would make in a day and multiplied it by the exchange value at scexchange.bitparking.com and found out that 4 GH/s would produce about 1.7 BTC which is less than I would make if I was mining at say deepbit.net.

There ya go!

how does the bitcoin calculator take into account the faster rate of block generation of solidcoin (20 blocks/hr) compared to bitcoin (6.79 blocks/hr)?

Keep in mind Gigahashes are Gigahashes. What makes blocks go faster in solidcoin is the structure of how difficulty adjusts. It is identical to bitcoin in terms of how many blocks are produced by how many gigahashes but they way difficulty recalculates and adjusts over time is another story.
