DB is deciding. Isn't it cute how they pretend that 400 people voted on this. They don't have 400 players. If they had 10,000 players 400 wouldn't vote in a week for alts. DB has been working hard signing up new names at BCT to vote. They don't have any advantage to do so, Just few tons of XMR/DRK coin owners hoping a big site accepts their currency to spread some FUD and raise the price a little before selling (and there alts). as a real player here I voted for PeerCoin because it's one that I actually use, Possibility of PeerCoin winning with things going like this are "nonexistent" though. Just a few comments: 1. Yes, there is an active community behind these coins and a good percentage of the votes is originally from people looking to support their coins rather than the site, but they learned about the site through this exercise and that is good exposure, I would love it if I was operating Direct Bet. The question is where are the supporters of the other coins? Are they not interested or they just don't have that kind of community support? 2. Will everybody voting eventually become a client not really, but a larger community gives them a larger sample to work with and they will definitely win some new customers. I would love to bet on spanish football if they make Darkcoin available as an example. 3. They need to think about how the new coin addition can benefit current customers. In the case of Darkcoin instant confirmations and anonymity might just be a good fit for the betting site regardless of the community behind it. 4. Maybe you need to learn more about these projects and why are so many people excited about them. I dont see Monero happening just yet because they dont have a GUI Wallet that people can use and is an untested codebase. But yeah I woud add Darkcoin now and maybe Monero later when they are ready. At least these coins have a use case that is different from BTC and they add value. Thanks Minotaur26. This is some great input here. We will post an announcement on our plans soon. Stay tuned.

Is it possible to use Darkcoin and Monero at all for this purpose, how can one automatically send coins back to the sending address when they are anonymous?
at Directbet funds aren´t sent back to the deposit address. You are able/must specify your receiving address for a winning bet before you are able to place a bet. Ah, yes, forgot that since in my case it's always the same. Since I've used Monero only on exchanges, is entering PaymentID optional or necessary? Payment ID can be viewed as part of the address. Similar to how you might have an account number at a bank that has multiple parts (first part identifies branch, etc.) separated by hyphens, spaces, etc. We will likely introduce a syntax for compound addresses in Monero like this to reduce confusion, but it can be conceptually thought of that way now.

Monero has survived two attacks in recent months and has wallets available. People just want anonymous options, and I personally want an anonymous option that isn't based on Bitcoin's code.

In all honesty, Darkcoin uses Bitcoin's code as generalizethis has said. So, it doesn't make much sense to use a coin on a site in which Bitcoin could simply incorporate it's features later on. That's why I'd prefer Monero to be added to sites that want anonymous coins, as it's code is not taken from Bitcoin's and it's features can't be implemented in Bitcoin's via simple copy/paste(with tweaks) like Darkcoins can.

Bitcoin will never implement Darkcoin's codebase for anonymity, especially as they are heading down the path of regulation and the likes. Further, to do so would most certainly need a fork (something BTC isn't willing to do unless absolutely needed). Cryptonote-based coins may very well be solid additions, but the codebase hasn't been vetted nearly as long as Bitcoin's. That doesn't discount the project, it's just a fact that shouldn't be understated.

But what does it interest DirectBet if CN codebase has be vetted long or not? If CN fails (no one uses it) or is exploited DB will just deactivate CN-deposits.
+ alot of experts vouch for CN solidness and good fundamentals + its not like CN is very, very new and since two weeks open source, the code went public in March, we have late November now + Darkcoins big changes to Bitcoin-codebase arent vetted long either
Still think the best solution is to implement both. Maybe do Dark first and XMR 3 weeks later.

I am a Darkcoin supporter, never hid that, but I don't think that discredits my logic. I have respect for both Monero and Boolberry but I honestly think they are at an earlier stage of development, for all the reasons discussed and as a business I wouldn't add them just yet. The type of attacks that still happen in Cryptonote, threaten the coin itself, in the case of Darkcoin if an attack affects its added value features you go back to having Bitcoin's well tested security so the integrity of the coin is preserved. I will continue to monitor Monero's progress and wish the best to the project but I think there will still be plenty of opportunity to invest in that technology as it matures. From a business perspective is just about timing and risk management any business person could see this so my allegiance to Darkcoin is irrelevant.

Honestly a fair amount of Darkcoin's code (i.e. the anonymity part) is just as new as Cryptonote if not newer, which is why bugs have shown up in both. "Bitcoin's well tested security" is a nonsense argument. Once you start changing code you can easily introduce bugs. If you want Bitcoin's well tested security, use Bitcoin. If you are going to base it on maturity alone then neither would be considered.

Yes XMR has been a victim of concerted, educated and persistent attacks and has weathered every one of them unscathed. Can DRK say the same? If DRK is attacked in this manner do you think it would survive? Even if you believe it would which is the safer? The coin that has PROVEN it's resilience or the one that has not been tested?

Nice, but do you have any ETA for accepting Monero? We're looking into adding Monero. We realize there is an overwhelming support for it here and we're currently studying it. However, we might not be able to accept it until an official wallet with GUI is available and the API is finalized.
