Time for me to bring this back up again for the year.

The burn for new assets should be increased at least semi-permanently from 0.5 to 1 XCP.

I'm fine with a low deflation rate, but it really is too low currently. And a half a coin burn for the primary function of XCP seems strange, why not a whole coin?

Thoughts from the Devs?

I think there was very interesting talk about increasing the creation price for more valuable assets at least, i.e. assets that have more than 1 word or that represent more than just a token (maybe correspond to a real world item so it can be given an inherent value based on it's creation). I think having a serious discussion about this would be very healthy progress for the project

This is exactly the "value-add" to the TOKEN xcp needs.

Sure, keep it cheap for entry-level, but premium should be OOMs more expensive.

XCP has been declining for a long time now. It was a great idea and it had a good branding, team once upon a time. But now its just a underdeveloped coin.

I do not think Ethereum is the rival of Counterparty at all, as it suits a totally different usecase. I much rather put our company's tokens on top of Counterparty as it grants us a whole different standard of security. Bitcoin is turing incomplete to achieve a high level of security. ASICs and generally the by far highest hash rate of the Bitcoin blockchain reemphasizes the power of Counterparty. On the other side, Ethereum offers a turing complete language that lets you program anything into the chain that you like, even if its main purpose is to harm the chain.

So if you like experimentation, try Ethereum. If you prefer security, go with Bitcoin/Counterparty.

Counterparty has its rightful purpose already and has implementations coming up that make it suit even better that purpose.

We are still early in the era of crypto. You will be suprised how charts can flip. The time will come where people will understand.

In terms of security, I get that the bitcoin blockchain has the most hashing power and is likely the most secure. However, could you go into more detail of the pros and cons of turing completeness?  

In terms of it being a trust minimizing system, wouldn't the number of Counterparty nodes have something to say?

At the end of the day it isn't really about whether one is better than the other. On a personal note, Counterparty tokens do more or less exactly what I want tokens to do. It serves my needs! The fact that you can send tokens to anybody with a bitcoin address whether they like it or not is nice. For example one of our artists, Jack, released a song using mostly Andreas Antonopoulos' voice. Jack didn't ask for permission to use it so he shared some of his tokens with Andreas. • CIP16 Pluggable Chains: Making counterparty run in several blockchains simultaneously.
• CIP?? Non-turing complete VM: Creating a counterparty specific, non-turing complete VM for smart contracts that go WAY beyond what counterparty does atm.

If you say the counterparty team is scamming, please point out who/when and don't spread nonsensical FUD.

It is slightly inconvenient but have the ability to set own fee what is more important.
But is a shame for XCP that there's no official wallet. Moreover it use public api, which could stop working what is stated on readme.
