There will always be faster and cheaper copies.
After Dogeparty, last one is ClearingHouse XCH using viacoin.

Don't manipulate plz. facts strait - clearinghouse came out before dogyparty.

clearinghouse.cc registered in April and released on Monday.
dogyparty.io registered in July and released on Wednesday.

evidence all there on public record -
http://whois.domaintools.com/clearinghouse.cc
http://whois.domaintools.com/viacoin.org
http://whois.domaintools.com/dogeparty.io

And not to mention, Clearinghouse actually has a working block explorer at http://xch.blockscan.com  Wink

Cheers

Have you guys seen Dogeparty? What do you think about it? It seems like a carbon copy of Counterparty.. Not even any pictures of doges or anything.
Dogeparty is good for Dogecoin but it will not save it by itself. They also have to merge mine with Litecoin. Normally merge mining would seal the fate of the currency as miners would get lots of doge for free and mostly dump it. Dogeparty could give dogecoin some value just as the dns use case gives namecoin some value.

Dogeparty is then something that shibes should really jump on and have a great time with. Already they've created tons of funny tokens. Once the novelty runs out, I think we're going to see them incorporate it into all the interesting charity and content creation that they do. Artists are drawn to doge so I can see musicians, writers, comedians, and others doing their crowdfunding through dogeparty. It seems lots of shibes think people are burning money to help the price of doge but that's only a temporary side effect. I purchased doge specifically to burn it.

Where does that leave Counterparty? Just as Bitcoin is the serious big brother to Dogecoin and even to Litecoin, Counterparty will be what serious interests use for tokens that require stronger security and more liquidity.

So I think it's good and have an equal investment in xcp and xdp. xdp has a higher chance of failure on the technical side but a better chance at being known in the important market segment of content creators. If things go south with dogecoin but dogeparty is used widely, they could switch over to Litecoin. Interesting times.

EDIT: All Counterparty clones are also really good for the main project. It is the very definition of free marketing. As people come to understand the technology better, they will invest/diversify into Counterparty. I see very, very little risk of current Counterparty community members pulling money out of Counterparty to invest in a clone that largely rides on the Counterparty devs to continue developing, on a blockchain that is less popular than Bitcoin.

I agree... And its not like it takes a huge investment to burn some "XDPs."

I have to take back what I said about Dogeparty being Counterparty 2.0... Its exactly Counterparty 1.0 minus several features. But I can see how it can serve as a stepping stone for people who want to get into asset creation and cryptocurrency in general.

It seems lots of shibes think people are burning money to help the price of doge but that's only a temporary side effect. I purchased doge specifically to burn it.

the price of doge has actually gone down since I bought some to burn... guess there just isn't that much interest. but anyway its been fun creating assets for a few cents a pop. their token limit goes up to 10 billion in case you are wondering. heh.

You mean there can be a max of 10 billion of any token including XDP in Dogeparty? What is that limit in Counterparty?

Great post, Matt. I've never personally been a fan of the doge-things. However, they've done a lot for Bitcoin/alt coins in terms of exposure, so I can respect and appreciate the community they've built as well.

I think "Counterparty" is much cooler sounding, though. Smiley

Agreed, especially since it's rather clever: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counterparty

@Counterparty team

I have reported a huge issue for Dogeparty wallet here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=737231.msg8376961#msg8376961

Not sure if Counterwallet have the same issue, but it is necessary to investigate because Dogeparty wallet is a copy of Counterwallet.

I should always backup my private key.

With Counterwallet (I can't speak for Dogeparty Wallet), your passphrase is your private key. If you know your passphrase, then your funds are safe.

It's faster and cheaper than Counterparty. Looks like Counterparty will lose a lot of users.

Mmm I dunno about that. Being backed by the doge standard isn't much to brag about these days. They have lots of work to do before they come close to catching up.

But wanting to get in on a "Counterparty 2.0" at the beginning hell yeah I'll burn a few doges.

Where I have to hand it to them is a "Dogeparty" does sound a lot more fun than a "Counterparty."

That's nice of the Doge's to join the Caterparty https://bitbucket.org/dahozer/catcoin/src/1334bea032455073d9929b26577dbbb6bc9ace08/counterpartyd/?at=default

And while I was catnapping, some namesquatter issued OATS, anyone know anything about 'info@xcpforsale.com' ?

Tried many times on Counterwallet, I did not repeat the issue on Counterwallet.

But I found that after creating more than 18 addresses on Counterwallet, one of them is the watch only address with BTC, XCP & other 10 issued assets, the 17th address is disappeared, login many times, my Counterwallet does not show the 17th address.

That's the number of XCP that exist. User-created tokens may be more numerous: there can be 2^63 - 1 = 9223372036854775807 of an indivisisible asset, and (2^63 - 1) / 10^8 = 92233720368.54775807 of a divisible asset.

Also, the "you are already logged in" check is not perfect. Quite often, if you log out and log back in quickly, you will get that notice pop up. Once auto BTC escrow hits, we'll probably just use it with people that are still doing manual BTC escrow (since BTCpays are really the only place it really matters if you have multiple logins at once).

Never felt so close, yet so far away...

How does this happen anyway? A user places an order and immediately logs out? I mean, they should be allowed to do this and have the trade go through, but I understand, things are the way they are right now.

I notice the warning message that tells you if you log out your BTC order may be cancelled.. I receive the message sometimes, but I don't think other people are getting it.

Update... the order went through! I also received both pending and confirmed notifications!

I think things are looking up for Counterparty, I really do.

Where can I read more about how auto escrow would work or can you give a quick explanation of that?

Do you mean the passphrase? Unfortunately no, because your addresses are generated directly from your passphrase. This means that you will have to make a new Counterwallet and transfer your funds.

The password for a url can be changed in Counterwallet settings, by clicking the gear at the top right.

If this option is enabled, Counterwallet will automatically take care of making BTC payments for matched orders where you owe BTC. It is highly recommended you keep this on. If not enabled, you must manually settle any required BTC payments within a 10 block limit (approximately 80-100 minutes).

Automatic BTC Payment working now?
