• Kimoto's Gravity Well has just been tested. Works like a charm. Hardfork coming at block 35,000. Updated clients coming soon.
• Wow, we just hit CoinMarketCap and the #1 most profitable alt, big changes from last night!
• Started marketing and promotional efforts. Roadmap for the coin: new SMC version (latest litecoin branch, gravity well, lowered tx fee) releasing soon and merchant API coming sooner.
• Changed the OP to warn about the online wallet. They were given 1000 SMC as a bounty. Will keep it like this until word from the owners is received.
• All emails have been sent, if you did not get an email, your registration didn't go through or our filter caught an anomaly. If we couldn't find you in our database at all, do not continue messaging us. You didn't sign up on time. At least 1300 people have claimed their SMC.
• Coin redeeming system in place. Emails will begin to be sent out January 30th starting at 5 PM CST.
• Updated smartcoin conf with new nodes and rpcallowip restriction.
• Coins are coming soon, please be patient and don't post in the thread unless it's urgent. I haven't started to use the moderation feature, but I won't hesitate if it gets out of hand.

Block 1: 400,000 SMC
Block 2-999: 1 SMC
Block 1000-120000: 64 SMC
Block >120000: 16 SMC


After block 999, rewards will be halved approximately every 6 months (400,000 blocks).

We definitely didn't intend for it to sound scammy. Everything about the premine will be completely transparent. We will post the wallet address containing the premined coins so that everyone can see where the coins go.

Coincidentally, we are. We just removed all of the bloat. One question, have you reserved with another email? We restrict signups to only one IP to prevent abuse. It could also be the regex to match correct emails, PM me I'll try to register you manually.

Reserved. At least it 'looks' more promising than other altcoins, but you will have to give a lot more information regarding the coin before people are convinced.

First of all, captchas and multiple submissions from the same IP are going to be the first deterrent. reCaptcha has a reputation for being secure and we prevent multiple signups from multiple IPs. If someone were to acquire a bunch of proxies, the captcha should deter some of them. Otherwise, we have some tricks up our sleeve to detect HTTP based proxies. Second, emails will be filtered out at the end for any disposable email services and other tricks I won't list. Third, after emails are sent out, you will have to type in your wallet address. Withdrawing to duplicate wallet addresses will not be possible.

Hopefully this should be enough... if you've got other suggestions we're open to hearing them.

Sorry this info isn't available yet, we're still deciding on what would be most optimal to avoid any instamining issues on testnet. As soon as we decide on the best configuration, we'll let everyone know!

You could ask users to list their bitcointalk username along their payout address once you release the coin. This way you can prevent spam and abuse of your system because no one is going to make multiple accounts on bitcointalk to get some coins.

Looks like a smart approach to some initial distribution.   Perhaps something like this will become the way of the future - although, I'm sure massive abuse will be attempted with emails/ips/capchas.
