Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

We are going to need to generate some interest in this thread on launch day to keep it on the front page, not on page 3.

dev, what are the two pools that you have vetted already, that will be stable and can handle high loads? Having pools that fail on launch are major fail on a new coin, any big name pools?

Currently we have miners.pw (creators of dogepool.pw -- great features and stable pool) on board and another one we will mention once everything is decided. We are in negotiation with HashFaster and Poolerino. The bounties provided for these pools are not for payment, but for the allowance of a 0% fee and is contingent upon their ability to host giveaways. Thus we are very selective. That does not mean that someone cannot create a pool and not advertise it. In fact, we will start putting the links to the pools in the OP tomorrow.

There should be an exchange rolled out within 48 hours of launch. We will either decide to host our own, or hope someone picks us up quick. Regardless, you should see a pool within 48 hours of launch.

i've been in discussion with him and  and hope I am considered one of them.
For reference here are a two of my other pools.
http://noblecoin.cryptotycoons.com/index.php?page=dashboard -Max hash to date has been around 200  MH/s
http://rpc.cryptotycoons.com  -had a max of ~600MH/s before RonPaulCoin got run over by multipools and net hash plummeted.

my pools are all run on enterprise hardware; can be upgraded to up to 6.0 Ths Bandwidth; and either hosted on SSDs =)
I've never had a pool fail due to load.

cool, well I see your pool currently has 72 miners, what if you have 600 miners at launch or shortly after, can you handle a sudden influx like that?

We have hit 1200 sign ups!

We have also decided that we will keep the payout of 45 SMC constant, which means that we will increase the total given away to continue offering the 45 SMC award until the SMC launch.

Currently 72 yes; however the RPC pool was at well over over 400 at one time with no problems at all and that was with only 3 The bandwidth and not the 6 I can potentially offer when needed. I'm confident I can handle anything thats thrown at my pools =)

The retarget time adjustment is a 'smart' idea.

Any further information about possible exchanges?

It sound promising. At least it sounds like they'll have their ducks in a row before releasing it into the wild and suffering setbacks or the awkwardness of a re-launch due to unforeseen complications like less diligent altcoins we've seen recently.

Like any other new coin, only time will tell how smart of an investment smartcoins may or may not be.

Launch draws near, and I'm very excited!
Any news or updates for us? I'd like to know what's going on and what the future of this coin will bring.

Keep up the good work!

Been looking forward to this one.

Hoping for a nice smooth launch and looks like it should be with the 1 SMC block rewards to start off.
