I am getting an error when I start the QT wallet.

An error occured while setting up the RPC port 59593 for listening: open: Address incompatible with the requested protocol was used.

I started the qt, then stopped it, put the updated conf file info into the conf file.
Put the conf file into the newly created smartcoin folder in Application Data, (I am using winxp)

Started the QT wallet program and get that error.

I click OK on the message box, and qt shuts down.

Does anyone know what this error is, and how to defeat it?

I have no wallet address due this happening.

Change your rpc port to 58583...

Thanks for that suggestion.
Oh blast, I have made a typo.
it was already that value.
The 360 post delay is driving me insane a bit/lot.

My settings are,

server=1
daemon=1
rpcport=58583
rpcuser=usernamehere
rpcpassword=rpcpasswordhere
addnode=seed.getsmartcoin.com
addnode=seed1.getsmartcoin.com
addnode=seed2.getsmartcoin.com
addnode=smc.poolerino.com
addnode=smc.miningwith.us
addnode=smc.hash.so

Still no joy here??

I see this error reported in this board over at litecoin only and it was in the early days, no answer was ever provided that I can find.

I'm down for 60 free coins, but it doesn't appear a working wallet is available to give an address to send to.  How does that work?

I have an address..? What are you talking about read the first page..

If you are mining on a pool and not solo, set server=0

I found the solution from a litecoin persons post.
I googled for the error without the port number on the end, that got it.

My wallet address is,

Sk6HmJ9nrvNz1bjyGPQx73CjPB2wTPwsR2

How to fix this error.

It is probably only affecting winxp 32bit.

http://atheronblog.blogspot.com.au/2013/04/solved-litecoin-client-error.html

This solution fixed it straight away. I forgot I had a crash in November. I had no ipv6.

I had 4 MH at hash.so from the moment of launch for 2 hours. Got 2 lousy coins. Needless to say I stopped mining and moved on.
