What is going on with Noble over at Bittrex? I think I have some spare Noble lying about there... sort of trapped.

It would be good if there is another giveaway to promote this coin *We did want to be generous with initial giveaways and reward people who have shown interest on day 1 - so the generosity of release day ends in approximately 5 hours. The amounts varied between 10,000 and 25,000 NOBLE and generally depended on the post itself (see OP), the activity/post count and the joining date of the poster. Because of feedback the amount will be reduced as I don't want to deprive miners of their hard work from this point. Mining and saving alt-coins we can do, spending them however is another matter entirely and we are trying to find a fair balance with work done for such a new coin.

Such ideas, and willingness to expose the hypocritical and unflattering images of the pure p/der's (scammers), are a threat to such people. One thing they can do is try and discredit the dev by sabotaging his coin and thereby trying to damage his credibility, although anyone can see two are unrelated and such vandalism merely reinforces the dev's idea regarding such people in the crypto scene.
Hence, the current situation.
Our community support can overcome this situation, and it seems the dev have already taken measures to guard against future 51% by working with exchanges.
Wise words. Do you think that we, as a community, should be more audible in this environment? Should we stand in the first row, pointing fingers to the obvious and less obvious scams? Or is it better to stay low, to avoid more attacks? (They have money, hence power to do a lot of damage.... but only until some point, I hope). Should we talk loudly about the fact that NOBL was (is) the primary target for some entities or better stay quiet about this? I believe that for now, we should keep going and let our merits and endurance as a community do the talking. Needless and disorganized disputes will only hiner us from achieving our goals, and it really doesn't serve any useful purpose. If such actions are required, I would ask rofo for planning and consent before putting things in motion. Persoanlly however, /i do not believe the time is right as of this moment. Instead, I urge you to use the forums and twitter/IC to promote and draw attention to rofo's pdf especially, and also the infrastructures and efforts of our dev team in such as market place, amazon gift cards, etc.

Sorry for the delay in details for security, it't not a centralized option at this point - too unpopular. Most of you guys are pretty spot on regardless. Remember though, any mining security done on our end or with parties interested in the longer-term survival of NOBL will up the difficulty and make it harder to convince other miners to stick with us without a relative rise in price. We'll be providing more in-depth details on Monday after we've crunched the numbers, costs and interests for an extra day or two.
What we need is for people to read and understand our PDF, then look around you and think critically. We are 5 months old soon, and a good part of the reason for that is because we haven't forked on a whim and stuck to our original goal. The decisions made by coins in 2014 have done them more harm than good. We'll have to double-check, but we're most probably the oldest and longest standing coin of 2014 with the original founders, team, thread & community.

Is it a sign that things may soon start to MOVE ?? great regarding raising difficulty through mining: isnt this always going to be the case in case of a pow algorithm? higher diff reduces rewards and may scare of small miners, but low diff leaves us susceptible to these 51% cowards..

I was always thinking that higher diff means popularity of a coin, thus anyone wanting to get in, will have to buy at market instead of trying to mine, and in result the price will follow, also going up, but sometimes this result is delayed.

Now I start to like the community, since I noticed your "long" comments every one/two days, enjoyed the reading. I should forget RPC. I'm part of Magicoin, a far less noticed coin but the DEV does be enthusiastic about the work. Magicoin is POW, and people like POS, X11 so much so... Any comments will be good for us. Sorry I am off the topic. From what I learned, NOBL touched the bottom last time around 10-20 sat, and now 20 sat. This is not bad. The price is ok, everyone should realize the dropping of big coins LTC DOGE. So now is the right time to invest LTC or DOGE? Obviously, price dropping is because people are not buying. Do you believe POS/X11/whatever will take over POW? If yes, don't touch LTC, DOGE, NOBL again. We're at a low price, good time to invest anyway if you want to get long-term profit. Lots of people are buying DRK, etc, I am away from this. I am buying NOBL a bit by a bit, since I realized it has a solid community, why the cap should be only 300 BTC. I bet it is easy for you to do the math.

So what exactly would happen if they succeed on a 51% attack? What will and can they gain from such an attack considering the amount of coins already out there. And would such effort not also require a lot more work to actually make a change? Or would the only target be to get a coin delisted from the exchanges? Which would also be useless as people will find other ways to trade. To me it sounds like any attack to a coin is also an attack to the community. And when facing strong communities, such an attack is more or less a waste of time as the community will find ways to counter the negative effects. But please feel free to educate me on this thinking:)

Exactly ... that actor will have both: btc withdrawed from an exchange (after depositing and selling some ALTCOINs there) AND still having the same ALTCOINs, on another chain, unspent. And on the exchange itself, all kinds of alarm bells etc will trigger. IMHO we cannot be sure about the motives, as this kind of attack, if succesfull, is very profitable: it's the exchange which have to cover it's own losses. It can be bad for a coin, because exchanges don't want to lose, so they can consider delisting such coin. Fortunately this is not the case here — AFAIK exchanges will instead strengthen the security measures, both temporarily (like 1000 confirms on mp) and for long-term protection (like new algorithms/watchdogs/etc to detect possible dbl spending attempts). But also yes, attacking a blockchain is such a way can also be seen as an attempt to discredit coin's creator and the community. And it doesn't have to be expansive at this point. The cost depends on the quantity and the type of hardware used.
