Isn't Ripple and XRP the same thing.? I think you were in hurry.

Anyway, I do agree that ripple is a  good investment. It is now available for less than half of a dollar and it will surely get to double in next 1-2 months. I could not speak the same for bitcoins. Only ETH can give as much returns as Ripple but I still prefer ETH because it is a safer bet.

Any coin at the top of the market is fine, just take your pick, read about them and pick the one you like the most, wait a few years and after that you will get good profits but the amount you want to invest is not really that big so you may want to invest in altcoins with a lower market cap, but that is a lot more risky and you need experience to choose a winner among all the coins in the market.
