Edit: If you want to know how not to handle things, just look at LTC: They're well aware of the problem with too high share difficulty and resulting huge variance for smaller/normal miners. All they did is setting up a page which tells you to stay away from p2pool if you're not big enough. Very clever solution, so LTC p2pool get about 1% of the total LTC hashrate...

Yeah it's like LTC goes out of its way to spread FUD about p2ool. Lovely.

PS- Hi mmouse!

Hey everyone,

Some cool news for you. We were going to wait a few more days before saying anything, but a thread popped up:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=567446.msg6206786#msg6206786

So I thought I'd give you all the news now.

We've been working on a merge-mined N-Scrypt coin on the VTC chain, called Monocle (MON). We wanted something interesting to do, and that would give us a kind of live high-hashrate testbed for possible future VTC features, so the rationale for the name was that it gives us a closer look at changes, and it's (M)erge (M)ined hence (M)onocle.

MON will have 1/10 of the VTC circulation (8.4 Million total MON), will use BRNDF for difficulty retargeting every 12 blocks, and will have a continuously reducing block subsidy using a curve that gives year 2/3/4 inflations of 45% / 14% / 5.5% respectively. Obviously it will not be premined nor have any other form of scam attached to it.

Watch this space...
awwwwwwwwwww I finally do something original and somebody else has to do it too...
Oh and BTW, the OP will come back later, I am a marketing noob, so I have a bunch of guys working something up lol

We are working on this for some time. The idea btw. came up because some other coins asked us for mergemining, and its a template for them to encourange it.
Its a testbed for vertcoin to test new features and merge them into VTC later.
The only way we the team will benefit from this is due to testing of our code and other economical features. If someone has some good ideas, feel free to shout them out.
It also encourages the use of p2pool, which is a good sideeffect.

One of the longest running, most trusted VTC pools around, run by BorisTheSpider (of the VTC dev team)

P2Pool (recommended) and traditional pool available for VTC

P2Pool: http://p2pool.vtcpool.co.uk:9171
Traditional MPOS pool: https://vtcpool.co.uk

P2Pool setup guide and FAQ

Why use p2pool?

  • Mined coins are deposited directly in your wallet in the generation payment for the block,
they are never held by a pool wallet and can't be lost due to failures or hacking/thefts
  • Even if the node you connect to fails, you don't lose the coins you mined - your shares are distributed on the network
  • Distributed (less vulnerable to DoS attacks, less chance of big pools having enough hashrate to be capable of a 51% attack)
  • Private (you are paid with coinbase transactions and your public key is never seen on the network until you spend the funds)

Feel free to use https://vtcpool.co.uk if you prefer a traditional pool. Especially, users with lower hashrates may find earnings
are better on the traditional pool. There is room for a mixture of pool types, but please help further strengthen the decentralisation
of Vertcoin by using p2pool if it works well for you.

To mine on p2pool, use your VTC address as username, and any password, so your command line should be like:

vertminer -o stratum+tcp://p2pool.vtcpool.co.uk:9171 -u Vw44xQPqgwbqZVpRzPoHe6M4jAGYceiZZP -p x

Please follow the advice in the P2Pool setup guide and FAQ about setting your minimum
share difficulty - this will prevent HW errors and stales and improve your mining income.

any new ideas which will boost the price?

Yes, just start a proper multipool that pays in VTC and it will boost the price. But generally VTC is not for short-term profit making, for that there are other coins out there with zero future and a high risk high reward profit making possibility.

If you're happy with our work on AsiaCoin revival, please consider giving us trust feedback and provide donations to the new AsiaCoin Foundation.

Great news!

And the price of the coins is growing steadily.

Look at the statistics.

Time mine the coins is not very difficult.

All miners are invited to a major update to protect the pool - http://vtc.coinsprofit.com/

Any alt coin that I've seen come out in the past 6 months falls victim to this kind of stuff.

When VTC was first coming out, it was at the moment where Scrypt miners were beginning to realize that ASICs were inevitable. Along this, there were articles, blogs, etc about VTC.

This brought a surge of miners that were selling the coin on exchanges during all this premature hype at high prices. Also, scrypt mining was not in as much of a slump then as it is now. Unfortunately, a lot of coin enthusiasts were left holding the bag as it went well under a dollar and might have to wait a very long time to make profit.

Anyone who is trying to make a quick buck on any crypto currency is going to be out of luck for a year or two. I think many enthusiasts should watch some of Andreas Antonoupolus' videos, one thing he mentions that makes the most sense to me is this. Crypto currency is the first international currency type ever created, however right now only 1st world cultures are using it or really even know about it. But there are a billion people with no access to traditional bank systems but do have internet access (like with their cell phones), once the proper item is invented that will allow these billion people that live in oppressed societies to all of a sudden have access to a true international bankless currency system, at THAT point you will see the true adoption and power of the invention of crypto currency.

At this point bitcoin and other alt coins aren't really going to go over 2-3k at most until the world as a whole starts adopting it, and it's going to start with the cultures who actually NEED crypto currency to exist for them, and they aren't going to get their hands on crypto currency until the proper inventions happen that allow them to use and experience it.

Then you will see your 500k-million dollar bitcoin and if vertcoin is even .02 of that you will easily see 20k vertcoins in the future.

First of all, many of us believe in the invention of decentralized payment systems, and are true believers. We know exactly what we have gotten ourselves into.

Im glad you started listening to andreas. But What you wrote is nothing new and many people are working to expand the crypto universe. It will happen sooner than you think.

2nd, to what I highlighted above, your logic is extremely flawed. VTc etc early adopters buying 10,000 coins at below $1.50 and seeing it rise to $10-20 (let alone the $2/3,000 that you said) is not considered a tidy windfall? And 2 years is nowadays considered a long time in terms of investments? Why dont you buy some cd's or IRAs to compare.
