The only way to fight asic is to constantly adapt and fork is necessary.
Human intervention and community involvement is the only way to fight asic and that is something that vertcoin vouch for.
Thank you!

Thank you! +1 Scrypt-N is just a part of Vertcoin, but if ASICs come along we will all just kick them in the nuts and go for another algo.

Hashharder triple mining - imminent
We have managed to get a working back-end solution to the triple mining situation. Once up and running, we will be publishing the base code so that other mining pools can implement this and level the playing field a bit more. The base code should be consistent with the existing MPOS framework, so most pools should be able to switch to it - albeit they will need to customise their front-ends to handle the payout of additional coins. But we will put up the source code once we have it working. More news to follow in the next 24/48 hours depending on my free time.
----------------------
Once this is up, we will be rolling this out for Verters' Pool also - after testing to ensure that the pool will not be affected.

DRK is favored by miners due to low power consumption and low heat as well. Summer time wont help vtc fast enough either. Once DRK fpga miners are busted then we'll see vtc jumping again.

thanks. Darkcoin: 1) Single developer - and he's quite good, does not bother me. has advantages.
2) Closed source (code review for DarkSend is not exist) - i just saw v1 will be released soon and ring signatures, ip obfuscation etc will be implemented in v2.
3) Many versions of wallet and algorithm of max amount coins - ? not sure i follow, please explain.
4) Enough effective mining by CPU (hello botnets) - if it becomes a problem they can go pos with the masternodes right? why are almost all new altcoins using x11 then?
5) Initial orientation for illegal activity, and therefore, no chance of official recognition. - good. that's what my btc is for.
6) Unknown position single developer towards ASICs ? i don't understand what you're saying.
so far all anyone has done is convince me that vrt is better than ltc. but can vrt overcome the first/second mover advantage of ltc and it's current ecosystem, i'm not yet convinced of that.
1 and 2) I've already seen as a coin dies at death single developer. Closed sources and single developer is high risk for cryptocurrency. 3) DarkCoin was previously XCoin. How to change the maximum number of coins: 84.000.000->22.000.000 4) Masternods needs for DarkSend. POS in DRK is not exists. Because it is fashionable 5) I am an honest citizen. I do not need to buy drugs, weapons and other dirt. I want to be independent of the banks. DRK never get official recognition of large financial institutions. 6) Will the developer make any change in the POW function if ASICs will be exists for X11.

Why are you comparing to DRK and try to be the one or the the other ? You should have the eye on the bigger pic. Crypto needs a privacy and crypto needs to be decentraliced. For me there are only two coins out now that offers these things and have the background of devs and community. It´s VTC and DRK Maybe you have to switch your balances between these two sometimes, but don´t cash out to BTC or even worster - LTC

Drk is not asic resistant, not for long...also, it's pumped to hell and back. Watch the price, you might sell a bit higher, but don't get overly greedy.
Also I heard on one of the podcasts I think the one Boris talked in (or maybe it was the guy who went to the bitcoin convention and presented for us) where he mentioned that there is a very special skype chat that goes on almost 24/7 where devs that are even beyond his level are constantly throwing ideas at each other on how to further innovate Vertcoin and what they can do if/when an asic that can comfortably mine vertcion is created. I don't think any other coin out there right now except Bitcoin has the sort of development team we have backing us daily. 1. Any GPU-mineable coin is ASIC-able. 2. X11 ASICs don't exist, yet - not even in promotional brochures. 3. Scrypt ASICs that will be on sale / planned for delivery can even mine scrypt-N with tweaks. 4. All shitcoins claim they have great dev and community. The bottom line is this: What has the development team developed? Ask this question for Vertcoin. What have the Vertcoin devs actually developed? Is there anything that other coins are saying "that's great, we'll take it from Vertcoin", for as you know imitation is the highest form of flattery. I hold some Verts but the coin is too stagnant on the innovation front. It is very surprising how a single dev of Darkcoin can pull off so much work against other coins with 5-10 devs team that don't really code anything.

'Flower Technology products’ newly announced capability to mine Scrypt-N coins is revolutionary, though you may not have yet realized why. Scrypt-N coins, such as Vertcoin, were developed to counter the imminent influx of efficient ASICs miners to the Scrypt-based cryptocurrency market. Scrypt-N is a different algorithm than Scrypt, but our engineers have brilliantly tweaked our product to be able to mine either variety of coin. We are now able to offer our customers financial mitigation against the forthcoming flood of Scrypt-based coins to the market by offering the world’s first and only Scrypt-N ASIC miner, securing your Scrypt-N investment up to a difficulty of N=16384'

This was announced weeks ago. Don´t be scared about that. How much memory do they have to build into their machine to support N=16384 ? A variable can´t be coded into a electronic cuircut without loss of performance copared to a hardcoded circuit without a variable parameter. There´s a big fight about the asics manufactorers and only to be able to mine scrypt n they developed something with a lower performance than others be able to All bullshit. Let them come out in a few months or longer and we´ll see. Do you have any information about the finacial background they have to be able to develop such chips ? The only thing they do is to sell their worthless hardware after they mined out the last shit with their asics and then sell them to customers to made the second time a profit on it. When you buy today until it´s delivered diff of ltc has reached levels you´ll never reach ROI

an ASIC that adapts and does a variety of stuff..right. Adapting it to Scrypt-N will make it inefficient for Scrypt. Read not optimal and in-turn not as cost efficient as it could be. Scam company

So as the VTC market began to rise within the last days you can expect people are sure it will be dead soon. They want to loose their money and invest into VTC. Thats how markets are working

I think that Vertcoin team should think about new POW function (NOT X11), which will be "ASICs free" long term and they have to make plan for fast hardfork in future.

That's just either a lie, or something with significant performance compromise (like 10x-20x lower n-factor 11 performance per watt/dollar compared to n-factor 10, maybe 100x slower for n=12, 1000x slower for n=13). Notice they don't even report a hashrate for it. In essence that ASIC will end up being more expensive per hashrate than a GPU for n=11. When making a Scrypt ASIC, they need to fix it for a specific n, r and p factors to get optimial results. Scrypt-n changes n, which handles the memory requirement, memory which is hardwired in an ASIC to Scrypt specifications. As the n-factor goes higher, the memory requirement also goes higher, and there goes the cost of building an ASIC. The ASIC price rises exponentially to keep its relative edge over GPUs. Changing the PoW function is not a trivial thing to do, there's no need to react to imaginary threats. ASIC Resistance is a comparative measurement, means how difficult and expensive it is for the algorithm to be implemented in ASIC, and both Scrypt-n and Scrypt-jane (among a few others) are far more ASIC resistant than X11. I like that VTC dropped the "ASIC Resistant" for "Beats ASIC".
