Thanks presstab. I am learning myself along the way. Hopefully we can all learn from my right and wrong decisions.

The reason why most people don't see this thread is because it gets buried quick. I can go days without posting and if no one else posts, it ends up on page ten. I will try to post updates as quickly as I can, but if I am quiet for a while its because nothing is happening other than coins getting aged until the next stake.

If a POS wallet is closed will coins still age or does the wallet need to be open for POS to work?

The coins will age in a closed wallet. In order to mint a PoS block you need to run the wallet.

First stake of the month.

197.34 HBN x .00006801 btc = 0.013397 BTC x $900 = $12.05 .

total coins PoS mined to date: 847 HBN

PoS mined coins current mkt value:847 x 0.00006801  =  0.059107 BTC x $900 = $53.19

After reading your investment journal you convinced me! I'm going to go get some hobo nickel and attempt some stable long term returns. How much HBN are you sitting on at the moment?

   Year Total      651.356421

I have entered this information in a database and will try to keep it up to date every month. I think its good to keep track of how the investment is going. All investments require work and the more involved and detailed you are, the better returns you should see.

This is what I have for the month of Feb so far.

PoS Mined Feb 1-2 2014

   4.673608
   4.610636
   431.683149
   29.246328
   3.052766

   27.685721
   197.340164

Total Mined Coins   (FEB) 709.361731

Total Orphans (FEB)   1
Total Orphans (2014)   5

Year Total    1673.49663

Screencap of the 421.68 HBN Block, the biggest one so far.

The blocks have slowed down so I don't think I will be minting any time soon until the 10th of Feb. So far the account is at 53822.913081 HBN. A 2% return on the total amount is 1,076.45 HBN. So far I have PoS minted 1673.49 HBN. I am pretty happy with the results so far.

lol. I have noticed that the diff/nethash rate has gone up a bit since I have started my journal. Its been sitting steady at 100+ mhash these past couple of days. This is both a good and a bad thing, depending on how you look at it. I want the nethash to increase in order to strengthen the network. However, I also PoW mine HBN so the higher the diff, the less coins I get to add to my stack.

I will most likely only run this journal for 1 year. After that I may fall back into the shadows, or perhaps start a new journal on another coin. I have several trade ideas that I plan to throw some BTC at and I wouldn't mind sharing my thoughts with everyone here.

So last night I contacted a Sr.Member of BTCTalk, who is also a member of the Hobonickels Community, in regards to purchasing a block of HBN. I had a feeling that this person would be able to fill a big order, something that normally doesn't sit on Cryptsy's orderbook. Once we settled on an amount and price (a very nice price in fact) we exchanged BTC for HBN. I added this HBN to the investment account so it can be put to work right away.

So here it is, a nice juicy block of 30,000 HBN  Grin and some change of course  Wink

So now the account is sitting at 84686.21 HBN

Hopefully in the next round of PoS mining, I can get the full 2% reward, which works out to be 1,697.36 HBN.

Dream Big, Think Sharp.

I still feel that HBN is undervalued. It can easily have a $2 Million+ market cap. My short term "speculative" target is 30 cents. At 30 cents that values HBN at a $750,000 market cap.  My "long shot hail mary" target for HBN is $1 per coin.  Using today's existing coins, $1 per coin would value HBN at $2,821,000. Just some food for thought.

Completly alright with you with the "I still feel that HBN is undervalued."
It was really funny you started your journal kind of the same time I saw a 5 HBN block minted, so I looked into the coin and understand this amazing 2% Wink

I started with 9999.99 HBN:

Yes, for me, I'm specialy mining this days, specialy because I can't find any good offer on cryptsy (I was luck with the 10K block I was able to buy).

I'm also trying to create a little script for cryptsy and find "how much" I will be able to sell all my HBN if I need to sell them right now without waiting (I'm kind of sure you will buy them all haha) but right now, it's only the keeping part.

I'm completly all right with your "the network to get stronger", diff increase also usually mean price increase (BTW, you should also add every of your post the "price" at the moment to have a nice history). But I want more coins for now, and for now, I want a low price haha Wink

It's true that this conversation sheds light on the HBN and it's getting more attention. Witch is a good and bad thing depending on witch side of the fence you sit.  I personally sit on both side, and just like tokyoghetto I mine PoW and, while I believe that the increased mining power gives us a more secure network, it does give me less HBN/day.  Cry

But in the long run, I want that people know more about this coin and use it more, since it'll give it more value.

I follow this coin since last november and saw the price go from less than 2000 satoshis to over 15000 and back to 4000.  Same goes for network hash power.  This shows me that the potential is there and I agree with you tokyogettho on that.  This should be worth a lot more.

Good job on that transaction, 30K HBN is a nice block to have staking... let's see how it goes.

keep it up Smiley

I may start doing the price thing, but its really all subjective. The only price that matters are the ones I can actually execute against. HBN trades pretty thin so exiting my entire position will crush the price. So my portfolio might have a "book-value" but I wouldn't get the entire position sold at the price, unless a whale comes along and buys me out.

Thank you for the link. Best of luck with your crypto investment site, these are the kind of services the community needs.

Good Observation. During the alt-coin rush of Nov 2013, we saw huge amounts of HBN trade around the 1000 satoshi mark.

Nov 20 - 191,443 HBN Volume (Cryptsy) High:1328 Low:628
Nov 21 - 618,071 HBN Volume (Crypysy) High: 950 Low: 682
Nov 22 - 988,714 HBN Volume (Cryptsy) High: 827 Low: 650
Nov 23 - 477,367 HBN Volume (Cryptsy) High: 1000 Low: 695

Those days were pretty crazy in general, and finally on Nov 30 we saw HBN trade to an all-time high of 10400 satoshis on 122,987 HBN traded. It opened at 2648 and closed at 7000. We can expect to trade around the 7000-10000 satoshi range for a while until we can break and hold above the 10000 satoshi psychological barrier. As diff increase, price tends to follow. My suggestion is to just keep stacking and staking. The day will come when you will go from mining 1000 HBN/day to 100 HBN/day. Enjoy the easy coins it can only get better from here.

You are right about the 30k HBN block, its a nice addition to my portfolio. I can't wait till Feb 12, that is when I will PoS mine again (and push the diff up plus give PoW miners a hard time lol).

Push it to the limit.

I plan to increase my account to 100,000 HBN+. Sooner or later, via PoW mining, PoS mining or hitting the order book on Cryptsy. Things are about to get very interesting.
