Waking up to good news this morning and no additional issues sure is nice.  Now that things are settled, and the fix is official:

KDC.CripToe.Com is once again accepting registrations.

I want to publicly thank those of you that adopted the fix and moved the fork along on the right path.  It was a team effort, and you guys really pulled through yesterday.

Thanks,

Fuse

Jackdminer,

You have a point, but then again you also don't have a point. It all based on supply and demand, we reduce the supply, but we didn't increase the demand. We are now in process to increase demand by adding new websites that allow Klondike coin as a payment method. Klondike coin will have some hard moments, maybe several weeks, but the pipeline is really impressive, and there are a lot of coins were you now earn only $5 per day, really a lot of them. So moving to another point is not really a smart option, as we have reduce the speed of new coins added, other coins didn't, so if the bear market finished then Klondike coin should be in a better position.

A reduction in BLOCK REWARD does not reduce existing supply, it only reduces the future growth of supply they are not the same thing.

Its great that more merchants accept KDC. Its great that there is more than one exchange to trade KDC. However if the merchants and exchanges accept/trade other currencies what drives demand to acquire KDC other then speculation?

Example:
If my local hardware store accepted KDC as payment along with BTC and USD, as a non miner or holder of KDC I would choose the most economical form of payment to me which will always be the method without the real and opportunity cost associated with exchanging coin/currency x for KDC.

KDC as a form of payment alone does not drive new resources to KDC.

No crypto coin can survive the death of its network hash.  No one will provide hashing power for less then market rates for long.

Yes it definitely reduce supply, it reduce DAILY supply, by 80%.

That means that the market wont be flooded with 100.000+ coins per day, and miners wont dump as before and kdc will have a lot less selling pressure, (hopefully) enabling the price to go up, if demand is same as before.

I think some people are confused about supply and demand in a market exchange.

The amount and price of the coin on the offer (ASK) has little bearing on the BID,  since KDC is not a commodity and the demand is scarce the BID (willingness to pay) ultimately sets the price.

That is to say what is scarce in the market is the supply of BIDs to purchase the coin so the supply of coin looking to sell is forced to accept the BID.  This is true if you are attempting to sell 1 coin or a million coins you will only be able to exchange it for the highest bid.

As the supply of BIDS increases the BID price becomes competitive as one BID seeks to filled ahead of other BIDS.  This is the only way a seller will get a more attractive price.

Reducing the supply of coins for sale does not make BIDs more plentiful.

So buy it Smiley or mine it Smiley We are working on it, believe me... Remember this is 0% pre-mine, so people are putting all their hours in for free, and they want to make this coin a success.

We have two people here who I'd like to mention:

jackdminer

He's a clear mining opportunist who clearly states ".. just mining away and exchanging my coins for BTC."

That's what he does.  He mines and sells for BTC.  That type of miner never contributes to the value of a coin.  The fact that the reward is less now, is impressive.  He's finding a hundred ways to tell you that this fork was a bad idea.

The fact that someone like this isn't happy, is a good thing.  KDC needs miners who believe in the coin and are willing to mine and HOLD until KDC dev team launches more of their upcoming products and services. Mining KDC and dumping it for BTC only hurts KDC more than this fork.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

kheg

This person is even stranger.  Jan 10th, he says:

"does this seem like one of the better COIN launches in recent memory? Quiet, friendly, not a lot of hype, nobody really trying to get rich fast"

..and now he says:

"There's a TON of cheap KDC available, and that sets the benchmark for the price..."

"...the cycle will beget itself which in turn will drive the price down once again"

So I guess price matters to kheg now.

PEOPLE LISTEN

The market hasn't had a chance to show how it feels about the fork.  If you believe in Klondikecoin's long-term like I do, than you'll be in a buy and hold position right now.

If you're someone who mines KDC just to dump it for Bitcoin, then there are plenty of other altcoins you can mine to help leech their value and help bring their value down.

If you're someone who believes in Klondikecoin's future, you'll keep mining the coin (like I am), irregardless of the pay off today.  I believe that KDC will be worth a lot more than it is today a year from now.

If the devs keep on their path with their development, believe it or not, 16 KDC will be plenty of a reward for a block, because the demand for KDC will rise.  It all evens out in the end.

The problem isn't today's price.

The problem isn't lowering the block reward to 16 KDC

The problem isn't losing some miners or pool operators who only were mining to dump their coins for BTC

We simply need to continue letting the KDC devs do their thing and attract other interested people to this community.

I fully support the fork.  I fully support the KDC devs, and my attitude is, if you think you could do better, than go create your own coin.

I hate complainers they just drain people's energy and hurt the very thing they think they are helping.

Enough already.

Hate to break it to you, in case you haven't noticed price drives the popularity of an altcoin.  Every single coin is benchmarked against BTC, because BTC matters.  I enjoyed the launch of KDC because it was a no-hype launch and the devs had clear goals and vision and seemed set on that.  Unfortunately THE COMMUNITY seemed to persuade the devs to abandon one of the original goals of that in pursuit of profits.  As far as the latter comments, I only care about price insofar as to point out the obvious but it seems as though to completely misunderstood what was said, especially since you took select excerpts rather than the statement in whole.  As far as the former comments, it's a shame I was wrong.

Hate to break it to you, in case you haven't noticed price drives the popularity of an altcoin.

Price matters less in the early stages of a coin when a coin is proving to the marketplace the reason for its existence.

If KDC developers bring out new products and services that are exclusive to klondikecoin, the price will follow the market demand accordingly.

All of this fretting about current market price, and block reward BEFORE these products and services are launched is unimportant.

We've stolen the focus of them developing these products and services so the KDC developers can be berated by a tiny few people (kheg and jackdminer included) for the recent fork.

This fork may be one of the greatest things ever for KDC.  We'll see who is right in the long term. Until you can prove to me you're 100% right (which you can't), then you could be 100% wrong.

It will take a couple months for the impact of this fork to play out.  Right now I do know that the holdings of the KDC developers is greatly improved by this fork, and I support that position for them.

For the mine-and-dump complainers, I hope they do dump all their coins and stop mining, so the rest of us who are interested in klondikecoin long term and can buy their positions for cheap and take over the mining from them.

Go devs go...

P.S. For reference in a couple months in the future, today, KDC traded at a low of 0.00003570 BTC on Poloniex.com. Let's look at this again mid-summer 2014 and see if it is trading lower than this price.

Toldy:

Explain to me how a miner who provides hash rate to a coin in exchange for BTC, butterflies, apple sauce or anything doesn't contribute?  You do understand it is the hive of the hash that creates the security and 'trust' of the coin don't you?  With only a small pool of enthusiastic followers all you have is a low hash coin vulnerable to attack.

I supply coins to people willing to buy them.  The argument that I somehow cheapen the value of the coin is baseless since the scarcity in this market is that of buyers and as such they set the price regardless of the supply of coins for sale.

If anything I facilitate price discovery and assume the risk of no longer owning KDC with its potential for price improvement in exchange for the risk of a falling price of BTC.  I am not some parasite to the system, I provide way more value to the coin than simply hoarding supply distorting the price if any future demand were to arise.

In summary, I provide diverse network hash and price discovery so that your dreams for this coin can live another day.

Your right, there are many a coin to mine for reward, with that in mind 'for profit' miners should be given a little respect since without a diverse, large network hash you have no coin to be passionate about.

I am not complaining I am pointing out the realities of the market KDC competes in and the market of KDC itself.

There is no denying the impact the reduced reward will have on the network hash of the coin absent an increase in the supply buyers.

The way so many enthusiast of this or any coin contemplate the supply and demand as it relates to the reward per block and future price is just wrong as I have tried to explain in my previous post.

Blaming 'for profit' miners for a coins price is like blaming short sellers for a stock market crash, it misses the point.
