Im just trying to understand how any crytpocurrency could scale, keep everything on chain and still manage an enormous throughput of transactions per second.

Read the blockchain FAQ on the website to get a better understanding of the technology.

https://digibyte.io/digibyte-blockchain-faq

Thanks that was very insightful, I thought Digibyte is just another currency for payments but seems it‘s actually an Ethereum competitor just like NEO or EOS.

Question is why should developers choose Digibyte over EOS?

EOS is a conceptual POS initiative which may or may not bare expected fruits. Developers have a powerful proven backbone with DigiByte to work on now.

Digibye with its super fast network, you can feel the true experience of using crypto in your daily life.. ::

If only Digibyte was the first crypto. Nah, it's impossible. Nevertheless, Digibyte is great for small payments. The problem is always the scale of adoption. All it takes is just one spark in one country that will fall in love with its use.

What make DGB is better than DOGE? and its widely adopted

You shitting me right?...No nothing is better than Doge...It has an unlimited supply and is given away free as a bonus to litecoin miners and they will still be getting as much of it, even after all the litecoin block rewards dry up.....as long as people continue to buy crypto without doing any of their own research, that is.... and who can resist a Shiba Inu that speaks funny?

all of the above makes it pretty impressive.....but still it's not like anyone can argue that it isn't better than fiat!

and many people will wish they held DOGE instead of some of the ICO tokens they bought that promised the earth but unfortunately delivered nothing.

$9 would be a stretch.

Anything between $1 - $2 is doable, but I don't think we will see that for a few years yet.

This year, I’ve come across price predictions for DGB starting from around where we are now all the way up to $900 and yes that’s for this year.  But I don’t hold DGB because I think its price will go up.  I hold DGB because I think the value of the $ will go down, not just the dollar but all fiat currencies and why wouldn’t they as more and more people grow aware of the woeful inadequacies and injustice of the worlds fiat systems.  This technology offers real and viable alternatives to all of that, as well as the opportunity for anyone to understand how it works and how its value is derived.   I spend all my spare time here at DigiByte because I truly believe that Jared and the army of volunteers, all doing their bit behind the scenes to make this happen, will remain relentless in their ambition to level the playing field and give everyone, regardless of their standing or status in life, the tools to empower themselves and reclaim control of their own existence on this planet. God bless all of them and their resistance to dollar goggles!
When the opportunity presents itself, of course you should use it to improve your lives but never leave yourself totally devoid of DigiByte because you are going to need it far longer than any fiat currency you currently carry in your wallet…. IMO.

Looks like DGB is ready to move. Just look on chart - it is pretty good. If crypto market will be bullish, DGB i think can make good profit. Also, whats about consensus? Digibyte developers will visit it?

Ok I don't think bitcoin transactions are that slow anymore....also someone explain to me why lightning is so bad for crypto?

Also I would like someone to explain to me how Digibyte is so much faster other than that it has quicker block times? Isn't the block size of DGB variable as well?

Im just trying to understand how any crytpocurrency could scale, keep everything on chain and still manage an enormous throughput of transactions per second. Every merchant shouldn't be expected to download a 12GB(?) blockchain to accept payments, maybe you guys have some sort of light client though?

Aside from my pessimism, I do think this coin is really solid in terms of community and development, it's an old project that has been time tested and has shown price action similar to other large cap currencies....wish I would have just bought alot and held it back in 2014. Cry

Definitely a good one to speculate on though, it will pump again to ATH's and hopefully stay there, I think a good target for a future floor is 1100-1400 sats...it will probably need to get listed on binance though unfortunately....they have everyone by the balls right now Sad.

Ten minute blocktime... So just imagine: In ten years you can go to wallmart and pay with Bitcoins there. There are 6 persons in front of you in the queue. Each person needs 30-60 minutes until there payment is verified... Not slow?

Lightning will help avoid the above scenario, but in my opinion, it is a security risk. You make transactions without the original blockchain... I think it will never be as secure as using the original blockchain. Bitcoin is great. It is the fantastic idea of Nakamoto Satoshi, who gave it to us. But from technical point of view, there are much better coins out there today. One of these better coins is definitely Digibyte...
Although anyone can open a lightning channel, unless you have one open with the big boys or someone else that has, it wont be that useful to you. Effectively they will control gateways to cheap fast transactions using the bitcoin network and normal decentralized use will remain expensive and slow. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=408268.msg36956534#msg36956534

DigiByte does have light SPV node mobile wallets for convenient use, not to store all your dgb in though. The 15s blocktime is achieved by having 5 algo mining with each algo having an average 1 min 15s blocktime, this means the average time is 15s for a block to be found over all 5 algos. It is unlikely that it will become much faster than this due to the validation process. The cost of memory is getting cheaper, so the burden to users should become less critical as blocks get larger. I believe blockchain pruning will at some point also be introduced too....exactly what happens here I can't tell you yet (It's one for Jared to explain, perhaps)....but it isn't difficult to imagine that you could lock past blockchain events up, perhaps even using DiguSign for example and negate the need to hold the entire blockchain but still be certain if it was intact and true or not.

Thanks for all the information, good post. I knew that the 5 algo mining was certainly an innovative spec of DGB, i think that its what separates this coin from others. This digusign concept sounds interesting for sure. We will see where blockchain tech goes in the coming years...maybe just like people couldnt comprehend streaming video over the internet when everyone was using 56k dial up, blockchain tech will advance enough to where the thought of downloading the entire chain isnt a big deal.

I heard that prediction as well but it was cleared up later as 900 cents not $900. So the predicted price is $9. I've been a holder for ages, gonna get some more. Can't wait until I can start using it as a currency!

Can anyone suggest a mining pool for my Antminer L3+ to mine DGB.

I am using coinpw for my S9's and when I tried switching my L3's  they don't work there. Apparently they don't have servers for script mining or I'm doing something wrong.

Any advise would be appreciated,
Thanks so much,

Thanks amarian12,

I will point one of my L3's for a test.

What kind of results can I expect, in terms of DGB coins mined(received), for one Antminer L3+ per day ?

Please review and advise,
Thanks,
Ed

There is lots of big things coming in the near future. Just hold on till year end. Also Jared is not the CEO of DGB. He is the founder. There is no CEO as this is a open source decentralized project.

I was looking for solo mining of DGB using ASIC miners (like Antminer S9) but I have not found a clear guide for this. Anyone have idea how to do it, please help? Thanks

I see Jared has had his phone sim hijacked again. I've experienced similar things in the past too and it's been particularly difficult to get sorted, at least his supplier looks willing to get to the bottom of the issue and maybe they will even consider introducing Digi-ID to overcome this kind of problem...that would be  a big positive to come out of this situation at least.
When it happened to me, I also could not get the issue resolved standing in the shop. I was treated like I was a criminal, the most prominent service in the UK with whom I had the contract, according to their systems I wasn't even their customer and they refused to deal with me apart from demanding payments from me still....makes no sense at all. I had to go to the company that they said I had the contract with but didn't. I even had a manager from this company 'I didn't have a contract with', come with me into the shop and prove that it had nothing to do with them, because they could. Even then, it still took ages to resolve and although eventually they backed down and released me from any obligation, they never admitted any kind of fault or even apologized. I would spend hours being passed from one department to another and even felt like progress was being made. Once, I was even told by one of their representatives that they didn't have  a leg to stand on and everything would be sorted now quickly now but then nothing happened and the demands for payment kept coming. When I contacted them again, it was if none of that ever took place and I had to start the process all over again, that happened several times.  Very stressful indeed!

Needless to say they will never see another penny from me, and I'd been a customer of theirs some 20 years! They may have changed their name and systems in that time but they never stopped taking my money!
