As per the above, you only get that price per 10 if you buy 50 (or more).

You'd have to compare 50x DM2 vs 5x HD7970.  The theoretical parity period is the same, but the initial investment (for either option) a fair bit higher.
I.e.
1. your comparison (note that I don't have all the variables you used, so give or take..) - investment: $612 - parity in 357 days
2. actual comparison to get that price - investment: $3,060 - parity in 357 days
3. if you truly bought only 10 ($70.20/each, per website) to match a single HD7970 - investment: $702 - parity in 464 days
http://imgur.com/a/YP5qk
( bitcointalk.org's image proxy is having a fit, so album link it is )

Of course one might be able to get a better deal on 5x HD7970, the resale value of graphics cards after a year is probably better, the static values are unlikely to remain static, etc.

Still, it's a pretty nice pricepoint Smiley

Thank you for your correction. Your points are well taken

I just wanted to let everyone know I put up a small review of the DualMiner on cryptocoinsnews.com
http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/2014/02/26/dualminer-sha-256-scrypt-usb-miner/

It really is a good product and I wanted to share my experience using it with everyone.

From your article:

Quote
It runs at a steady 70+ kh/s in stock settings.

With the setting in the “Param” box of “–dualminer -pll 850” I typically get up to 93 kh/s averaging about 86 kh/s. This is in Scrypt only mode as I have not tried any SHA-256 overclocking.

With respect to the above, I am currently on clevermining, and they specify putting"--scrypt" into param. This might be a dumb question, but can I still overclock it with the "--scrypt" code in the param that I need to use with clevermining? Thanks.

You have to use the whole line.
Code:
–dualminer -pll 850
800 is stock 850 is a good spot.  Some can go to 900 stable but I do not recommend it.
Scrypt I am not sure why you would need that for clevermining I have not used them.

That is cool  I will have to think about that before I do it.
Are these firmware upgrade-able as well for future improvements based on newer firmware?

Hi dualminer_3 is there going to be any firmware update for these to get a bit more performance out of them??
They run great but there seems to be room for improvement in the firmware.

@minorminer,
We will create a open source project on github for our software. Pi should work. We haven't test pi board yet. As long as we have solid result on beaglebone black. We will start work on pi if there are issues on it.

Change the command line param --dualminer-pll will give you little more hash. In ltc only mode, the default value is 800M. Change it to 850 or 900 will increase the performance. However, only some chips can work on 900Mhz. This variety is mainly because the manufacturing process.

NOTE: change this parameter to higher value may cause high temp and damage the device. This kind of damage is NOT cover by warranty

When I add "--dualminer-pll 850" to the param box it just times out. Using DM GUI.

Here is the exact code param I use.
--dualminer-pll 850
Let me know how that works for you.
Also make sure you have a good hub.  The DualMiner overclock also only works in scrypt mode not dual mode.  At least so far.
I am using my dualminer USBs at normal hashrate of 70 khs each (on 49 port hub). How much is the power draw on each when overclocking to this number you have mentioned?

My PSU can do 5v 30A, and I have ~25 antminer USB (overclocked to 2ghs each), and ~15 dualminer USB (non overclocked), running at constant speed with no issues at all, on each 49 port hub.

I am not sure on the power draw.  I don't have anything to test it with.

Same with me. No luck when I try to overclock. I have some "usb 1" and some "usb 2" on the same hub. Can that be an issue?

Changed it back, with nothing in 'params', and it starts again at 70 khs each.

That's what I am worried about, and not buying many more. Graphics card will have a good value even if I stop mining or diff goes to the roof. Wish these were lower in value.

@stex2009 : How do you let them run on one PC ? You use one mining software for the Antminer and Dualminer ?

best regards

Hey, I noticed something weird: I've been using a dualminer with the Dualminer GUI v.1.0.0.6-0 on Win7-64 for some weeks.
Since yesterday, the cgminer (started by the GUI) switches eventually from my pool (pool 0, obviously. I didn't enter a backup pool) towards a mysterious "pool 1"
with very high diff (1024 I think). If I use the "Start cgminer in Console", I can see that the address of this pool 1 is middlecoin. This is really strange as I have no
account with middlecoin.. Also there is no way to see with which arguments the GUI starts cgminer, I'd be curious to see that..

Does anyone have an idea? Is it a malware? It is certainly a new behavior, and the switch to pool 1 happens always like 30 mins after starting the mining instance..

Edit: One more thing: I think now that the behavior started just when I installed the cgminer and cpuminer from cryptomining-blog.com for the Gridseed 5-chip device. I had a 5-chip device running on this computer for a couple of hours, now it's not connected any more, only the dualminer USB. So maybe this was malware and replaced the cgminer located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Broadeng\DualMiner\cgminer-win-32bit-2014-01-24_154358\cgminer.exe..? Very strange...

Hektek, I run :
bfgminer for antminers
dualminer-GUI (which opens cgminer) for dualminers.

I also run one more instance of bfgminer for my cubes too. (multiple cubes on one console).

Ahh so it's not just an issue with my pool--wait, what pool are you using? I'm on clever mining.

We'll need dual miner to confirm whether you can over clock their LTC only USBS. Maybe that's the issue?

Manebjorn. Any expertise you can lend?

I have not tried it on the LTC only units.  Both of my units are the full dual mode units.  It should still work but hopefully DualMiner can let us know if it is the same or not.  Once we know we can try testing from there.
I am also using MultiMiner with the pre-release version of BGFMiner 4.0.  I am not having any issues.

Check in the config file.  There are usually example pool setups in there that if not removed with pop over to them if there is a connection issue with the existing pool.

Wow! That's a really good price. It makes the DM2 pretty competitive with the GridSeed 5 chip units.

I only wish you did this sale earlier, *before* I decided to buy 10 GridSeed 5 chip units. I much prefer the ease of use and scalability you get from DMs.
