Guys, was just discussing this with a friend.
Am I correct that the total budget voor marketing & promotion is what is in: 2037401990853753795?
there is 200k for conferences from this donation:
http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=2000&tra=14304720412728680408 (travel, tickets, hotels, sponsorship, materials), 10k spent for Miami, 20k for Berlin, 23k will be soon sent for Austin
and 250k prepared for small promotion / translations / little projects (like paying 30k for
this) from this donation:
http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=2000&tra=9241849923972865648(mostly based on this table:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412243.msg5358655#msg5358655) - so they can be publicly discussed here or in Committee because of the source was unclaimed coins. The last plan was to get 250k every month (18th) from the unclaimed coins for this, there are about 2.5 million now, but it can be changed according to the committee's decisions
There are still cca 200k from the private donation
http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=2000&tra=17506053978865082322, it's in full controll by me, so I can use it as my salary etc and don't have to look for a real job / ask for money from unclaimed coins for myself / in next months
Thanks for your extensive answer.
The reason I asked is the following:
I (with a capital "I") think the main (or at least the BIG second) focus of NXT should be marketing. This question came to my mind when I saw that a possible bounty of 3-5 MILLION NXT for atomic cross-chain trading was put up "just like that" and marketing has one? million?
It's nice that all the tech start to materialize, but when hardly anyone knows about NXT (outside the crypto scene) what good is state-of-the-art tech really? Don't get me wrong: I really like NXT and it's my largest investment by far, but marketing wise there is a lot lacking...
For instance the video that was just announced: nice video, but totally different from all the other stuff.
Websites: there are not 2 that look even a bit a like. Nxtcrypto.org just makes my eyes bleed and is a tech-nerd fest (I'm sorry that I must hurt a few people by saying this, but when I open a site and 80% of the site is pictures without any meaning.... come on....)
All are very nice initiatives, but we REALLY need to mature and start to exhibit coherency.
One design style, one video style, text writers, designers. All lead by one small group of people (that are choosen).
Remember that NXT (and basically all crypto's) is still VERY unknown to the majority of people and even the ones in the crypto community hardly know us.
And please don't say: we will start really soon.
Marketing should be the first or at the latest GOOD second priority and I know that doesn't sound as sexy as AE, Atomic cross-chain, 1000TPS, but we need our PRODUCT (yes a movement is still a product) sold/marketed/known/out there!
