Yeah, it's quite possible if the bitcoin will be replaced by another altcoin. If altcoin is better then we must accept it. We have to be open with new technology especially if the technology is more sophisticated and qualified. When we are better attendance then our work becomes easier. Just now, actually bitcoin technology is already lost with some altcoin. Bitcoin just wins its popularity and still earns the trust of most of the community. Of course, this is a sign of bitcoin to be willing whenever its position is replaced by another altcoin. It's all just waiting for the right time. Especially the bitcoin price of emissions is a sign that more and more people are losing confidence with bitcoin.

I agree that Bitcoin could be replaced but like you've said, by some better and more sophisticated technology.
At the moment I don't see such technology present or even coming any time soon so.I don't think Bitcoin will be replaced in near future.
Some say that Etherum has better and more reliable technology but so far this actualy hasn't been proved and Bitcoin is still keeping the throne. I beleive it will stay so because it's not only technology that matter. Price, acceptance, regulation, implementation in real life and businesses, this is all important.

I don’t think something greater than BTC will come sooner. Everything that we’re looking for in an alternative currency can be found in bitcoin. Now that most of online casinos and other business owners are starting to accept it, I don’t think they will accept new one soon, if ever there will be.

"Soon" would be in the next 1-3 years or so.

One of the biggest dangers for BTC is something more useful coming along and investors switching - a process which could happen extremely fast, once started.

So to all the tech savy people in here - what advantages could other cryptocurrencies bring that will give them a crucial edge over BTC, and how fast could something like that come along?
Not that I will be spamming altcoins but to be honest, coins like ICX, Kmd and PRG are going to be very successful. PRG for instance is launching its PRG space and shall take lead of the whole market. Bitcoin is a great coin but these coins can definitely replace them.

Bitcoin has been ranked as number 1 throughout an fits performance is undoubtedly excellent, however coins like ICX, DRGN and TAU can replace bitcoin as their performance is great and they are constantly struggling hard.

If I can replace the BTC, I think that surely only the ETH can replace the BTC, it is a good coin with potential development.

The chances are pretty high seeing that coins like ethereum and bitcoin cash seem to be doing quite well and holding up well despite the crash. if there is ever a coin that will overtake bitcoin it will be one of these two coins in the future. With a blockchain like the one ethereum has there is no doubt that it will become a top contender coin

I think there is no other cryptocurrency who can replace bitcoin in the next one to three years. It is hard for them to even at least cope up with what bitcoin have achieved. Bitcoin has been unleash long time ago and what it is now is very high that some people even think bitcoin and a cryptocurrency is the same even we know these two are completely different because the former is an example of the latter.  Going back, I think it will take at least 5 years for a cryptocurrency to just cope up bitcoin but to replaced it,  I think it is improbable from now.

One thing that is quite certain once the prices of bitcoin keeps increasing, is that bitcoin will evolve from being a mere crypto-currency (currency as defined as something of value for everyday transactions) to a store value; (store value as defined as an assets which has future returns, and not used as an everyday trading asset). So "soon" depends on when the cryptocurrency community both directly and indirectly (that is the investors) ascertain that the price of 1 BTC is just to huge.

It is possible that in the next three years bitcoin will be replaced by a more perfect coin. We see that bitcoin is not perfect yet and its shortcomings are not completely eliminated. Therefore, I do not rule out such a development of events, when investors will switch to using a more advanced and promising coin. This must be treated as inevitability. Nothing can be eternal. The market has its own rules, so weaker coins will go or occupy lower niches in the crypto currency hierarchy.

We know that technology will be more advanced and there will probably be more projects with more sophisticated technology and
smarter developers coming in, but you should know that all the keys to adoption and migration are on the users themselves

You guys should look at the date of the post, 4 years ago who even bumps these posts. Anyway, I like how they thought some altcoins could overpass Bitcoin. And they still make these kind of posts and we will again be laughing at them in 2020. This community just goes on in a circle, Bitcoin is dead, Bitcoin will be replaced etc.

I'm not sure there will be another cryptocurrency that can replace bitcoin, although it is possible that it could happen. But Bitcoin is too strong and public confidence in bitcoin is very high, besides the bitcoin price is still higher than the other cryptocurrency. So for the next few years I'm sure there is no cryptocurrency that can replace bitcoin, and if it turns out there can replace bitcoin and can give hope to get big advantage as given by bitcoin, then I will also support it by investing in it Smiley

I think that in the near future bitcoin will not be replaced. Moreover, I think that bitcoin will not be replaced at all, it will remain the yardstick for the rest of the cryptocurrency, and will become digital gold.
