Hey considering you are an old school member, positive rep, etc., what is your take on pbmining? Would be curious. You seem to know what's what.

My take is that they are most likely running a ponzi scheme. At one point (before implementing their fancy coinmixer) they were sending payments directly from new customer purchases to the "mining payout" address. I've actually never been able to find a single payout that could be traced back to actual mining.

I'd highly recommend this thread if you want to learn more about cloudmining(and the scams): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=860400.0

Indeed, yes I'm sure it's a ponzi as well. I guess I just need to hope it continues long enough for me to reach ROI.

as a customer (yes I bought into this thing early) I have tried tracing payments many times, week up on week to find a coinbase tx from a mined block.

I will put this out there... there has never been a mined block which has stemmed to payments to customers, from pbmining.

feel free to take that statement, how you will - my 'mining contracts' from pbmining have all returned the initial investments i made.
my only concern is that there are many others, for whom, it will not.

But enough of that nut.

I´m going to do the same as the guy here with the hat
what´s his face, and not disclose anything.

Who knows; I might even have viewed PBM´s operation.  Grin
After all I live in Iceland.

Dude if you have tell me  Grin

Nope, not telling.

BTW, it was this doggieman idiot who had been sitting here
for months whining about not being able to find out who runs
PBM. These people really are thick. How they can find other
morons who take them seriously will continue to be beyond me.

Sure though it is hard to find information on them. If you have it then just link to it? Not sure why not?

I haven´t personally been in contact with the people running
PBM. But the guy with the hat that posts here occasionally
has and he´s not opening up and neither am I.

OK, not sure I follow why you are being secretive, but fair enough.

It isn´t THAT hard. And given the number of nutcases that
these companies have to deal with I´m not surprised that
many of them choose to be secretive.

How come ? Coins do not come to bitcoin network without mining. There must be a coinbase tx, may be thousand hops away. I'm sure u dint check properly Tongue

The funny thing is that the only people who take you seriously are noobs with no history/experience, meanwhile the people who share my view have years of mining experience and have been around long enough to see history repeat itself over and over again, yet the noobs never learn.

Even bitcoin's chief scientist (Gavin Andresen) shares the opinion that many cloudmining companies are ponzis.

I will quote a guy from another thread - I think it fits here:

"Those who trusted Mt. Gox for their brand have paid for it, but those who went for anonymous BTC-e are still trading. Brand is irrelevant in a six years old economy."

Btc-e's trading volume has been on a steady decline since the mt. gox debacle meanwhile transparent/audited exchanges have been growing. The only reason btc-e is still alive is because of their "brand name".

You won't find another giant anonymous/unaudited exchange that was created post-gox because the bitcoin ecosystem has matured.

There is a huge difference. BTC-E has an economic incentive to remain honest. They are making a killing on fees and may well earn a lot more by staying in business for years to come, than by running away with customer funds.

OTOH, the only way these cloud mining ponzi's can make a killing (or even a profit at all, most likely) is by running off with your money once new sales <  payouts.

They are responsive to requests, but very firm about changes (Bitcoin or email address).

Also I'm throwing my hat in the ring for us finding a way to trade contracts on here. I have 521GHS across three contracts, same account, if anyone can make a solid offer I'll consider selling. If that goes well I have another account that I'll see about.

You can try to put if for sale in the digital goods section, allow people to make offers.

Why are you selling? Already ROI?

I'd like to move everything over to cex.io. I like pbmining, consistent, but I don't like that I can't sell my GHS. I didn't mind this for a bit, but now I prefer to move my coin about sometimes.

I take it you haven´t mined at CEX ?

I've mined at pretty much all the various sites. As I get older let's just say I'm content to stick with cex and it's high-cost but fancy brand over smaller sites that more and more I feel I cannot trust. Trying to find information on these sites is almost impossible. Can anyone tell me anything about who runs pbmining or where and so on? It's a risk, of course, but I'm just not into anymore. I'll very likely be mostly trading on cex rather than mining these days.

If you´re looking for negative payouts CEX is the place.

You´ve been sitting here how long without knowing who runs
PB Mining ?

ROFL. Ditto on the negative payouts.
