Does the DRK wallet still work for dash??
Yes, it's the same blockchain and address pool. Thanks for info So it seems I could just send my Darkcoins from local wallet to a new Dash wallet, also on a local machine and that would be it? ...or, just rename the darkcoin data folder to dash, your darkcoin.conf to dash.conf and drop in the wallet.dat file from darkcoin in there and then load the new dash qt/daemon executable. It goes without saying to do this with the client/daemon closed. Thanks. Funnily enough, my Darkcoin folder (that is in Program Files (x86) => Darkcoin does not contain darkcoin.conf. (not even peers.dat or wallet.dat both of which are in another folder, with Masternode data). I have no idea what I was doing, for I have darkcoin-qt.exe and a shortcut on desktop. Now I dread touching anything Your folder containing those files is hidden. Since you are on windows, go to start and in the search box type "%appdata%" and click on roaming. You should see a darkcoin folder. Rename that to dash (again, when the wallet isn't running). Open up the newly renamed folder and rename your darkcoin.conf to dash.conf (you may or may not have one). Update any shortcuts as needed but the new default datadir is the dash folder that you just renamed your old datadir to (so no need to worry about redownloading the blockchain as it will be at the same height it was prechange). Thank you for helping. I do not have darkcoin.conf in DarkCoin folder there (AppData => Roaming => DarkCoin) but it seem I can do what you say nevertheless? Correct. Just rename the Darkcoin folder in roaming to Dash and run the new dash-qt.exe (it will know to look to the roaming/dash folder for your wallet.dat, peers.dat, etc). It still has to sync with the blockchain... Unless it has to, I either am doing something wrong or did something wrong earlier. Darkcoin folder in roaming is renamed. I updated old Darkcoin shortcut and ran it, so it started to sync with the blockhain. Just in case, for I am a n00b, I closed the client and started it again by clicking on dash-gt.exe i.e. no shortcut (dash-qt.exe is on desktop, not in a new Dash folder for old darkcoin-gt.exe was also where) ... Damn

Wow, remember the Blackcoin people in here trolling? And I feel bad for Quark, they were the first to chain together algos, like Evan. But I guess if that was their only innovation, it wasn't enough. Those are some early coins, feels sad But unfortunately, understandable.

Unless it has to, I either am doing something wrong or did something wrong earlier. Darkcoin folder in roaming is renamed. I updated old Darkcoin shortcut and ran it, so it started to sync with the blockhain. Just in case, for I am a n00b, I closed the client and started it again by clicking on dash-gt.exe i.e. no shortcut (dash-qt.exe is on desktop, not in a new Dash folder for old darkcoin-gt.exe was also where)
It doesn't matter where you run the executable from, the default directory will be the dash folder in roaming on Windows. Without no adjustments to a shortcut or other parameters telling it to look for a different data directory, it will use the information found in the dash data folder (what was your darkcoin data folder). There should be no other syncing other than from the point you stopped the old wallet at. Again, see the first post here: https://dashtalk.org/threads/11-1-dash-wallet.4450/Beyond that, I have no idea of your setup.

Always backup your wallet.dat, but what you can do for the easiest switch is copy everything in you darkcoin file, paste it into the DASH file and rename your darkcoin.conf to dash.conf and you're finished

All what oblox or you say is so simple and it should work like a charm, but it does not. Both approaches had started a new Dash wallet syncing the blockchain no matter what. Also, what drives me insane (and is most likely a result of my stupidity when I tried to installed Dash wallet for the first time - I changed the folder to Desktop. Once all these folders, Database/ blocks etc... started to pop up on my desktop I, always OCD-ed, stopped, unistalled Dash, removed all files I was able to see and re-install it as the installation wanted me to do. Now, whatever I do, all that stuff is appearing on the desktop again, which creates another level of OCD induced madness attack etc. The bottom line, nothing's working here.

It's just that windows hides the folder. Actually, so does Linux If you click on start (lower left of screen) then type in the "search programs and files" at the very bottom, and type into that box %AppData% you will see a folder pop up on top that says Roaming, click on that and you will find your DarkCoin folder. I prefer to duplicate everything (rather than rename things just in case) So if you have started your dash wallet once already, you will have a Dash folder there. Open your DarkCoin folder and copy everything, paste it into your new Dash Folder, or create a Dash folder and dump it in there. Now all you have to do is rename darkcoin.conf to dash.conf and you are finished AND you won't have to resync everything It's not your program folder, it's in you user profile. Clean out whatever might be in the Dash folder and dump a copy of your DarkCoin folder's contents into the Dash folder

Alas, Roaming folder does not contain Dash. Darkcoin folder (in Roaming) does not contain darkcoin.conf file... Have you been using it recently? It used to be you weren't required to make a darkcoin.conf file. If you never opened the DASH wallet, then you wouldn't have a Dash folder, so no problem. You can copy and paste the Darkcoin folder, rename it to Dash, then open notepad, put something like this in it, and save it as dash.conf Make sure you set txt choice to all files so that it doesn't become dash.conf.txt. If it does save that way, no big deal, just rename it to dash.conf rpcuser=Your_Name rpcpassword=AnyBunchOfRandomLetters123255$%YUU^%^^_You_Don't_need_to_remember_this server=1 addnode=23.23.186.131 testnet=0 masternode=0 masternodeprivkey=If you need it

Dash is 27.3 times faster with syncing and updating than Bitcoin and 93.7 times faster than Monero. Bitcoin (v0.11.0) has a Tao ratio 11.2% faster than bitcoin (v0.10.0) release. Dash (v.0.12.0.49) = Tao sync ratio = 0.15 seconds / hour of update || Dash (v.0.11.2.23) = Tao sync ratio = 0.24 seconds / hour of update. V12 versus V11 speedup = +36.5% Bitcoin (v.0.11.0) = Tao sync ratio = 4.14 seconds / hour of update || Monero (v.0.41.1) = Tao sync ratio = 14.2 seconds / hour of update
