Nope, this isn't/wasn't a Litecoin-feature.

Back in my Litecoin-days I wrote an external shell-script which first made a backup of wallet.dat and then started the wallet itself.
This isn't exactly end-user-friendly, so I decided Dash needs something integrated into the wallet itself.

 Yeah, I miss-read your post. Nice one  Wink

I don't think in the history of this coin, I've been so happy to see a post from anyone this much. Please let it be a sign of reconciliation? You are missed.

correct me if i'm wrong but it looks like BTC version 0.10 is also getting integrated into Dash version 0.12.0 (i guess thats what Vertoe pointed towards with his link, i didnt notice it that quickly) : https://github.com/dashpay/dash/commits/v0.12.0.x
Something to look forward to on Testnet at some point .. hopefully soon  Grin

edit : specially looking forward to the syncing headers first that bitcoin got implemented with version 0.10, should make syncing really fast for Dash

From bitcoin version 0.10 release changes : https://bitcoin.org/en/release/v0.10.0

Quote
Faster synchronization

Bitcoin Core now uses ‘headers-first synchronization’. This means that we first ask peers for block headers (a total of 27 megabytes, as of December 2014) and validate those. In a second stage, when the headers have been discovered, we download the blocks. However, as we already know about the whole chain in advance, the blocks can be downloaded in parallel from all available peers.

Worked with splawik21 getting my MN(s) setup...   he did a fantastic job.   Created 7 MNs in a few hours and we are good to go.   Highly recommend working with him.

More info:  https://darkcointalk.org/posts/43956/

Thanks again Splawik21 for the help today!

Thank you as well, it was a pleasure for me.
edit: crowning, my respect...

Nice to see you around Vertoe  Cool
hope you're well, we missed you!

A question please if you don't mind,
If the hop time of the bitcoin v0.9.3 was upto 600 milliseconds and this has been reduced to 10 milliseconds and speeded the wallet sync times up considerably, if Dash is taken off Bitcoin v0.10.0 , can upto 60 times increase be expected or has most of the speedup been factored in already,
any thoughts on this?

TIA

Sub-Ether

Dash is 27.3 times faster with syncing and updating than Bitcoin and 93.7 times faster than Monero. Bitcoin (v0.11.0) has a Tao ratio 11.2% faster than bitcoin (v0.10.0) release.
Dash (v.0.12.0.49) = Tao sync ratio = 0.15 seconds / hour of update || Dash (v.0.11.2.23) = Tao sync ratio = 0.24 seconds / hour of update. V12 versus V11 speedup = +36.5%
Bitcoin (v.0.11.0) = Tao sync ratio = 4.14 seconds / hour of update || Monero (v.0.41.1)  = Tao sync ratio = 14.2 seconds / hour of update

i dont think there is any coin out there that has this ... this is very impressive just from a security point alone.

 Actually, crowning actually brought this over from LTC. I wonder why it wasn't already here since we were originally an LTC fork.

That was pretty sneaky, Vertoe! Don't tease us like this! Don't let that be the last post we see from you.

We could use you back, man. Dash is a Digital Cash that can be used for anything, and you can have a hand in making it happen. Also, there is a fund for developers now. Keep that in mind.

Take your time, though, if you need to.
