Is anyone tasked with starting a merchant manual?

I heard you were elected. Wink
I think spreading adoption the way that Bigr doing it is far most beneficial for dash value, btc & fiat, and that should be at the top of the list!

Once the beginner video and the mobile android and ios wallets appear, watch out!

I'm certainly looking forward to it.  It needs to really be as simple as 3 steps...but that will be hard with the fiat->crypto->fiat conversion.  This is is where people get lost.  I will certainly donate my time and staff to testing out concepts.

Its important to note now as well...that peoples attention span has dropped immensely just in the last decade....what ever is come up with...CAN NOT be geared to the gear heads in here or DCT.

Thanks for the vote...but I'm not really qualified to do this.  I would gladly volunteer the use of my staff and customers as "guinea pigs" to test out concepts out on though.

Good job for an Ambassador !

A merchant manual (good name b.t.w.) is now one of the highest priorities this project should have IMO.

If you look at bitpay's integration page for subscribers it's the business (see below). Dash needs something like that as a front door. This is where Dash project can make huge gains from its bitcoin commercial compatibility.

For example, here is a top of the range (I already tried it) eCommerce back-end that thousands (if not millions) of small businesses are now using:

http://www.ecwid.com

Here is bitpay's plugin for that facility:

https://github.com/bitpay/ecwid-plugin

It is piss-easy to add bitcoin as a payment method to your ECWID eCommerce site. It is a NIGHTMARE to add Paypal. The main reason for that is the complexity of all the  counterparty interfaces (i.e. eCommerce --> Paypal --> Banking System --> Customer). Even once you've added it, you might not get paid because the customer might have a valid Paypal account but no money in their bank account. I can tell you, Paypal is dead meat. They must know it as well - it is the worst of both worlds (old banking world shoe-horned into an electronic platform).

Dash has a huge lead here from being able to lever all these cryptocurrency interfaces. IMO it should capitalise on that lead immediately to allow all Bitpay merchants who currently accept Bitcoin to accept Dash as well.

There is no other anonymous altcoin which is in this position.

To see all the possible eCommerce integrations which are open to Dash, go here: https://bitpay.com/integrations

Excellent.  The gear head, nerdy, techno babel, qt wallet, mining, yuda yuda...just glazes everyones eyes over, even my staff walk away when trying to explain crypto.  Then you add the confusion of all to bullet heads and trolls on the forums and you have a perfect mix of joe public not being interested IN ANY CRYPTO.

Real estate's mantra is location, location, location

Dash's should be adoption, adoption, adoption!

Yes indeed. It should be.

What most of the cryptocurrency nursery has survived on up till now is speculation, not adoption.

Bitcoin has been declining in marketcap for an entire year while adoption - in many different forms, not just retail - has been increasing.

What's happening is that speculative value is starting to die. It's seen its all time high and no new alts managed to put more than a dent in it. Bitcoin as a monetary medium, however, is missing one important monetary property: fungibility.

Dash is the only cryptocurrency that addresses bitcoin's fungibility directly.

The bitcoin network is also facing 3 major technical challenges that Dash is now delivering solutions for without compromising the prime monetary priorities of cryptocurrency:

[1] - fungibility
[2] - scaleability
[3] - transaction speed

Dash did it because it bit the bullet of functional diversity first. Everyone else is sitting on a mono-functional network which has now become a huge elephant in the room.

Regarding cryptocurrency scaleability, the Dash network will deploy functional diversity (a decentralised version of the eighties concept of 'client-server technology' that gave rise to the internet) to assist its peer nodes in optimising their data footprint.

NOTE: Bitcoin is nowhere near this level of technical articulation.

If I was a bitcoin core dev, I'd be watching Dash and nothing else because there's no other solution to their problems and when you get 1 technological innovation (functional diversification) that solves 3 problems (fungibility, massive transaction time collapse and scaleability) then there isn't any option but to observe.

100% agree.  Easy integration for existing Bitpay users would be an enormous boon for Dash adoption!

In addition, there is also a growing number of open source software projects designed to allow merchants to bypass eCommerce middlemen entirely by creating invoices directly and watching the blockchain for payments.

I would definitely MN-Vote for a project that incorporates these features into a simple software solution that merchants can use to directly accept Dash and manage their own invoices--and obviously includes support for InstantX transaction locking! Cheesy

Quote
Mycelium Gear lets your customers send money directly into your wallet controlled by you only. Then it watches the Bitcoin blockchain to detect whether a transaction has been made. This was made possible because Gear is built on top of an opensource Straight payment processor, which in turn uses BIP32 to generate payment Bitcoin addresses.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
https://github.com/coinkite/coinkite-real-time-invoice
Quote
This is a Google App Engine demo project, showing a Bitcoin invoicing system.

It produces nice-looking QR and BIP32-compliant payment links for the amount, and has the customary time-limit, with animated count down, to indicate the exchange rate quote timeout.

Most important of all, real-time sensing of completed payment is demonstrated: Once the payer sends a transaction to the pubkey, the invoice immediately clears and thanks the payer.

Discovering  Bitcoin’s Public Topology and decloaking Influential Nodes

https://cs.umd.edu/projects/coinscope/coinscope.pdf

AddressProbe can efficiently map the reachable Bitcoin
topology, and our analysis has shown both the struc-
ture of the network, and how malicious nodes can af-
fect broadcast. However, the vast majority of compute
power that sustains Bitcoin and extends the block chain is
not visible, but instead is concealed within mining pools.

There are peers who connect to ~125 more times than the
typical peer; these almost exclusively correspond to
mining pools and other measurements nodes.

Another feature of the mainline Satoshi client is that it permits a maximum of 125 active connections, but
we consistently see nodes that far exceed this maximum,
sometimes by a factor of nearly 80. This is not a singular phenomenon; we see these high degree nodes across
all runs of AddressProbe. That is, extremely high-degree nodes are persistent over time.

Dash is 27.3 times faster with syncing and updating than Bitcoin and 93.7 times faster than Monero. Bitcoin (v0.11.0) has a Tao ratio 11.2% faster than bitcoin (v0.10.0) release.

Bitcoin (v.0.11.0) = Tao sync ratio = 4.14 seconds / hour of update || Monero (v.0.41.1)  = Tao sync ratio = 14.2 seconds / hour of update
