Can you explain Counterparty to me? Their topic/site isn't very helpful.

Basically it's a currency that enables you to use their decentralized exchange (they refer to it as the DEX). You need their currency, XCP, which was generated by provably destroying BTC, to use the exchange. From there you can buy various assets, issue assets, pay dividends, etc. Their currency floats on top of BTC. A more refined user interface is on the way which should help the non computer science majors operate it more easily  Wink. It's listed on exchanges which is pretty lol since you can buy XCP directly on the DEX with BTC.

I don't own any yet because I haven't gotten around to using it/testing it. One of these days I'll get to it.

There are 2 alternatives that I know of that are trying to accomplish the same idea, Colored Coins and Mastercoin. Counterparty seems to have both beat but there have been bugs (the most notable being related to the Poloniex theft).

Only one of these needs to be paired with DRK to make all other cryptos pretty much anonymous. Neat stuff. The key is not staying in other cryptos, but staying in DRK and withdrawing into the other cryptos when needed.

I'm pondering your idea... I definitely like the idea (as I wait for my BTC to post to cryptsy) ... But I think you would need a certain amount of each currency to exchange with yourself... But if you had it... why not? What if Darksend could add a second conversion value for a transaction, allowing any other currency to "piggyback" on it... Imagine the pool having not just Darkcoins, but BTC, LTC, DOGE, etc all in each transaction. More layers of concealment... But you WOULD have to make sure that the current pool could support your transaction... and how could you make sure that the conversion wasn't being gamed? You wouldn't want to use a fixed rate, that would be self-defeating.... Hmmm....

BTC/Altcoin -> Counterparty -> DRK
DarkSend that shit
Darksend that shit again (why not?)
DRK -> Counterparty -> BTC/Altcoin

Basically, use DRK for the DarkBank and then just withdraw it as you need it into the other cryptos. That's my plan, anyway.

I should add, the whole point of Dark is that the mixing is decentralized. In order to accomplish what you and the other guy are pondering, you must trust 3rd parties again, which isn't optimal.

I agree that it's not optimal, or even desirable... I wonder what would happen if you exchanged BTC for DRK in your own wallet at your own rate... It seems like holders of large amounts of any currency could then drive the price wherever they wanted... But then, do they do that now?

It was nice to have someone else posting, I even followed you.

Hey Ape, thanks for letting me know. I submitted a request to get unsuspended and it was fullfilled within like 5 minutes ... which is really weird since apparently that usually takes time. I did change the logo though so it can be differentiated from your official account. Glad to know I have your support! (although my followers/following has been reset to 0 for the moment - database reloading after being unbanned apparently)

I'm 5btc deep in this bitch

Amateur... If anyone is left holding the bag, it's gonna be me... ;-) 5btc? pft... I've got more money in DRK than most of you paid for your cars... :-p

I have to buy it. I sure won't be mining it, lol!

I don't think someone who bought BTC at $4 can ever refer to himself as a bagholder. ;P

Tehe, and the 7970 card I'm going to blast with my 12ga that I technically paid less than $2 to buy on bitcoinstore.com...

Unless somebody else wants it... :-p

I'd prefer to keep it in the family, even at a loss. I know it's somewhere mining DRK if I sell it here...

Loss? Shit, I paid less than $2 for it... and it's mined more than it's fair market price in LTC... Make me an offer in DRK.

I shouldn't have mentioned it! I wanted to make a ridiculous/insulting lowball offer anyways. Tongue

In other news, I got Coin Market Cap to fix the darkcoin graph

90 and 180 day graphs are still weird but at least we got the regular one back - Now we just need to make it go UP!

The ones that don't exist yet on retail market?

Also, it's most likely not true.

asic miners takes time to get done, and to get it to market, so in other words, without seening any proof, i say sorry, but no, this coin is too new to throw that much research money into it... let alone they really have not have the time to do so.

Hi guys, I've set up a p2pool for Darkcoin
Address: drk.p2phash.com

P2Pool benefits:

* No registration required
* Distributed hashrate
* Immediate payouts after a block is found
* Higher payouts with transaction fees paid to miners
* No account hack possible

Fee: only 0.5%
Start mining within seconds! Just point your miner to p2phash.com:7903 and use the Darkcoin address from your wallet for username, the password doesn't matter.

lol really, so your saying no other pools are not doing the same...pfffhhh

Lotterymining has the highest payout, if you calculate the lottery winnings into it as well, besides the transaction fees and the block value..

If it's built for scrypt, it's a 0 kH/s paperweight for DRK. An ASIC can only do one unalterable set of operations.
