DRK will promote freedom, actual freedom to gzillion people out there. Not only hi-end capital, but safe small tx too. Be it large volume, be it micro-tx. Totally private and anon.

The first real "e-money" ever.

THIS IS HERE AND NOW... Evan is just ironing some kinks. Testnet is getting stronger by the second!

1. It will get to totally private and (almost completely) anon when it gets anonymity enhancements + strong IP obfuscation.

2. It's not simply ironing out. I don't think people understand that altering the Bitcoin protocol in such a fundamental way, and making it resilient, is huge. It sounds simple in concept ("we'll add 10-20% payment to the node") but the delays should make everyone appreciate that it isn't.

Bitcoin is going against everything that we know regarding "coding" in the sense that ...it doesn't break! If you alter it in some ways, it can break. I don't even know if it is possible to alter it in a way that doesn't introduce some kind of vulnerability. Evan will need all the help he can get with this, not only by experienced people who do quality testing, but also by experienced coders that might be able to find different solutions in things that he can't see. The task of ...defying Satoshi's codebase, even by modifying it and trying to preserve its resilience, is no small feat.

A month ago I wrote:

Quote from: AlexGR on May 14, 2014, 05:12:03 PM
I think it's a safe bet to assume there'll be another hard fork later on to fix bugs that appear live. The masternode payment system is a complex system and its doubtful that testnet has evaluated all possible scenarios where it can break.

Now remember... Bitcoin has redefined stability in a way that altcoins should be ...ashamed of themselves, really. Almost any changes that altcoins do on the bitcoin codebase, result in some type of problem. Or if they are written entirely from scratch, they have tons of issues (like CN coins, POS coins etc) because, well... they weren't written by the brilliance of Satoshi who had every parameter and possible eventuality almost mapped-out. The guy was thinking about variable types that expire in decades... His mind had a branch-prediction of seemingly every possible eventuality.

In my estimation it will require quite a bit of time to get everything sorted out but that's no blocker really because actual development projects require time. Writing a whitepaper just to initiate a pump & dump, without any substance behind it, takes just 40 minutes. Any coin that promises the world and skips the "ok, but where is the development time that is needed to do all these?" is nothing more than a scam. DRK isn't leading because it solved everything in a week. It's building upon months and months of work / new code / trials.

Quote
However this isn't even close to what we see. Time and time again, thousands of DRK are dumped, and the price only moves a handful of percent. Now, I get clearly this is biased as you could point to times where this wasn't the case and DRK fell dramatically. Absolutley, but this isn't my point.

This thing actually started back in February. It seems to be almost inherent to DRK... Back then DRK was like 0.002... Around late February an exchange was hacked, the hacker took 330 BTCs and bought DRK that he then dumped on Poloniex. This would be enough to kill ANY coin at that stage. The dumps were massive. Yet, the coin rebound back to 0.002 and only after several waves of dumps the price went down to 0.001-0.0015. The resilience shown was even more mindblowing than the current one - as weird as it may sound given today's numbers, because the Feb numbers in terms of order book / liquidity / marketcap were faaaaar smaller...

There is simply no single coin out there with the resilience of DRK, whether it's the community acting as a pillar of stability, whale buyers, or a combination of both.

Hi TanteStefana2,
Probably my post will be out of context, but I want to write here, before a full dump or a full pump.
I didn't sell my DRKs on the last days for several reasons. One of them was the hard work of the dev team (Evan mainly) and the DRK community (cheaplin,Alex you and many others, sorry, I can't remember the name of so many people).
Other reason was because I believe in this product (yeah, I don't like the name too much, but it can be promoted with a little marketing later).

But the most rare reason when I was thinking about DRK (sell or hold, that's the question), was you. Not sure if you are a woman or a man, but your nickname looks like a woman, and you are a rare specimen on these forums (too much kids and testosterone all around).
Few pages ago, you was writing about DRK and it was the last click to hold all my DRKs.
If go down, we will be in the same ship. if go up, hope we can prepare a virtual party sometime in the near future.

I'm not so young, but I'm energetic and happy to be here with all these contributors.

Why trust Evan ?

Because he is fucking good ! Smiley
And he don't fear to change the world where he live in.

-> SHA-256 is full of ASIC ? Scrypt draw a lot of power and ASIC coming ... Ok, Evan create X11
-> Block reward and halvening is perfectible ? ... Ok, Evan creates a custom block reward formula to protect the market
-> Difficulty adjustement is not good enough ? ... Ok, Evan implements his own and release the DGW
-> BTC is not anonymous ? ... Ok, DRK will be ! let's go Master nodes, I2P, Ring signature

DRK is under development, DRK is not stable, DRK can fork and force us to be reactive in wallet and deamon update...
But DRK, lead the charge of the new generation of cryptocurrency !

Let DRK the time to be the number one Smiley

I agree with you 100%, long live drkcoin and in Evan we trust

Just ignore this shit. I can guarantee you, no1 outside the die-hard altcoin-scene will ever hear about "Darkcash". Won't harm cryptos.

And BTW, if some crypto-currency newbs may fall for it & loose some bucks, they will learn a solid lesson from it. (The earlier you get ripped/scammed, the sooner you tighten security.)
Newbies get ripped/scammed in most (IT) "scenes", sub-cultures or mass movements. It's bad, but it's not a major problem.

Hi gang.  can someone please explain who and why posts are getting deleted? i thpught thus was an unmoderated forum?!?

Some people just delete their posts, I believe for privacy reasons. IDK why though, that shit stays on the internet forever via caching services like Google. I see it in a lot of threads. It was very common from certain people in the speculation thread, they even said that's what they were doing.

thats not the case here.. people are getting pm from bitcoin forum moderators telling them that their post has been removed due to ''off topic reasons or other reasons''
    its all done very randomly.

well thats complete  BS... if its unmoderated... its unmoderated... so,  bitcoin forum guys explain yourself
    s please.

The mods here are a pack of wankers. Every time I report a post at least one of my own golden nuggets of pure wisdom and beauty gets deleted, and the shit I was reporting remains untouched more often than not. C'est la vie.

well i think we need to get to the bottom of this.  ihadnt really noticed untill today... this is unacceptable... especially when messages from Trolls and FUDDSTERs are NOT being deleted... that is going to be a big problem.

I've realised I've had posts deleted today too. Mostly ones where I've quoted someone and added +1 or +100. I followed up the instructions in one of the PMs on how to contact them about the deletion and it results in:

"User 'Bitcoin Forum' has blocked your personal message."

What I'd said in my message was:

    Quote
Okay, quite a few of us have suddenly become aware our post are being deleted. Can you please explain what's going on? We've all been operating under (what now appears to be) a misapprehension that this forum i unmoderated. What will cause a post to be deleted? Who is taking this action and how do we contact that person to discuss how to keep content from being deleted?

Bitcointalk can you please respond as to what's going on here and why we're getting our posts deleted? We need to know that a level of integrity exists and our content isn't being deleted.

+1 (lets see if this +1 gets deleted)

The instamine is probably all gone. It's 8 months on. People traded 1000's before the massive spike happened, which was ages after launch so if someone with massive amounts held that long good on them. If you look at the rich list the distribution is way better than most coins.

If you need to pay bills with your crypto you've over extended.

I don't have enough for a masternode either.
If you have 200 dark you can buy shares in vertoe's masternode service.

If you have enough and don't have the technical knowledge Ghosplayer/yiddakee has a help desk/setup service.

There are currently no "delays" RC4 is launched and works.

    The review is happening.

    The PR will come.

Bitching/trolling isn't going to make you rich overnight.

Ofcourse, but don't take my post out of context.
It was meant as answer to TheTruth4 who said he is "in doubt if an everage user is gonna be ready to wait that long". (for development to be finished)
I don't care if the average user is ready for anything.
We need commited users, willing to stand behind darkcoin, help its development, hold the community together and spread the message.
And this for the next few years at least!
And while we do that the average users will simply follow, much like flies who are attracted to a light source.
The light source will not come from the average users, but from the commited users.

I'm east coast of Canada. What is it does Asia and Eastern Europe not like DRK? Dumping going on since midnight. Fine by me...I'll snatch some of it up! Wink
Nah, normal profit taking - this is healthy. Looking at a 5% pullback in the last 12 hours on a 40% gain over the past 3 days. Under different circumstances I would have expected a much larger correction. However given that evan will be releasing a paper sometime in the next 12 hours or so the "natural flow" of the market will likely be pretty disturbed and I think the size of the downturn reflects that.

I can only speak for myself, but I've got a decently large bid incoming once I review the technical details of the paper and make sure I'm happy with it's implementation. Not going to push it above .01 by any means, but with the deal I just got on bitcoins - they were practically giving them away! - I couldn't say no.

Agreed, we can't go straight up. Things are looking quite healthy still. We should have enough underlying support around these levels, what with so many newsworthy events in the next week. Next stop .01 but I still think DRK could be a double from here putting it just about #5 by market cap.

RSI getting a breather, testing support at the moment, uptrend channel still intact. We shall see...

I am hoping this new Foundation is going to move to counter the points made in the last paragraph of the attached article. I don't think about the rest of the assessment made but the simple statement of developer attentiveness vs community interaction and exchange liquidity I can't help agree with. There is a need to quickly meet some solid milestones there in parallel with all the development milestones met.

    http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/news/darkcoin-price-fell-20-week/2014/08/31

Ps. Community interaction means general acceptance and real life implementation, and not the troll vs fanboy interaction that used to go on here Smiley

I'm looking forward to the following events:
    1) Evan's detailed response to Kristov's review, with action items where necessary.
    2) Kristov's code audit -- I'm assuming Evan wants this to go out before RC5 release and open-source.
    3) RC5 release and Open source -- This event is not to be underestimated. Open source means mainstream adoption will finally happen and daily trading volumes go up by a multitude.
    4) The destruction of Bitcoin when Darkcoin has taken over.

It will be an interesting second half of October. Although price doesn't matter for a long term high-tech project like this, my price prediction for beginning of November is $10.

Guys, you need to carefully reread Evan's chat log where he first mentioned the instant transaction system. I'm almost certain it doesn't involve masternodes, for several reasons:

    1) He says that it won't require Bitcoin to hard fork. How could you implement MNs into the protocol, plus instant transactions, without a hard fork?
    2) He clearly says that he has found a way to make Bitcoin transactions instant...he then mentions that it is fully compatible with DarkSend and so will work with Darkcoin. But it's clear from his wording that the system is designed and intended for Bitcoin, first and foremost.

    https://darkcointalk.org/threads/possible-darkcoin-press-release-rc5-open-source-instant-transactions-kristov-code-review.2399/#post-21184

It doesn't require US to do a hardfork, because we already have masternodes  Grin
