There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I understand instant transactions, but what ... using the Masternode (1000 each) as a collateral for the purchases made, to speed up the transactions ?! Proof of Work ? ....> Tx The 1000DRK ate NOT being used as collateral in anything, never have been, never will. Instant TX's just have the MN's locking inputs and forming consensus on transactions instead of waiting for miners to come along minutes later and bake it into the blockchain. Obvious when you think about it, like most great leaps. The diagram just illustrates that MN's are part of the whole decentralised network in terms of peering, just as regular wallets are. No bottlenecks anywhere. |

I'm only on page 8 and I have just started giggling loudly to myself in a room by myself.
This is one of the most brilliant solutions to a problem that I have ever read (up until page 8 anyway!
Thing is, the solution was pretty much there already, Evan just had the genius to realise it...  No need to wait for consensus from miners in the minutes when MNs can do the same thing is seconds. I wish I could hire people with that level of clarity of thought. The paper is well written too. Right, enough Duffbuttlicking! Time to buy! People like this are wasted in corporate environments. We go our own way and usually get mocked and told how stupid we are by the people we interviewed with; up until we make more money by ourselves than the whole company that wouldn't hire us... |

Just grabbed another 50 DRK. Just 750 more for my second Masternode! Hope I can swing it before the price goes to the moon!!!  Just stocked up a bit as well can not help myself this is so dam exciting ! Yesterday was crazy! Every time Evan said something it seemed the markets took off.  Here we go again! Weeeeeee! |

Much faster MN consensus on transactions also inherently secures against all double-spend shennanigans as it greatly reduces the window of opportunity. You now have a few seconds to pull off a heist, not (sometimes many) whole minutes.
And the consequently smaller ongoing blockchain due to much longer block times now being possible, plus the possible future addition of superblocks, plus Electrum-DRK being around the corner, make for a much more portable system. Hell, there are countries on earth that only recently came into possession of the BTC blockchain because someone had to physically take a drive there, there wasn't the bandwidth to get it there electronically.

Actually, it completely eliminates double spending from being possible. Consensus requires a set of masternodes to agree that a transaction will be considered valid by the network, if they do the whole network honors it. It's as good as block confirmation. And if the merchant doesn't see the instant validation, then they know something is funny and should wait for block confirmation. |

Am I seeing this correctly.. Isn't this elegantly compatible with the passive way darksend+ now works in the background? Darksend would never need to go through instant transactions. Fast in the front, anonymous in the back.

BTC will be Wall Street controlled as soon as they can invest in the BTC ETF. Just like they did with commodities ETF's. Wall Street just loves derivatives so they can control the price. |
