You had to reindex when upgrading from 8.6 to 8.7.x, that is what I am talking about, you can't wreak havoc on a chain that the wallet doesn't understand. So long as the exchanges are running the latest wallet, which they have to be able to operate, they shouldn't have any risk of seeing POW blocks from the 8.6.x, seeing as we are now officially way past the # that is in 8.7.x for the transition.
If you really think that its possible, please do it in proof of concept and then reality, then show the devs what needs fixed so we can move forward. Bittrex said they would bring theirs online when the upgrade error went away, it did. Now there is something else that is holding them back, I doubt its still the older versions on the chain.
I haven't run my POT wallet in forever, so I can't remember whether I did a reindex or not. I just know that I haven't done one in the last few months. I'm going to retract my position now. I'm looking at the code now, and it looks like they did add the min protocol version to the new wallet. They changed the protocol to 70420. This was done 10 days ago. So I'm arguing an invalid point. I was going with the assumption that if they were going to make that change, they would have addressed the pull request. I went ahead and closed the pull request for the devs. So if that isn't the issue, then maybe the seg fault is. I'm lost at this point. Maybe I'm starting to lose my mind . -Fuse

I gave myself a migraine trying to get them to lower the threshold to get the network moving, they refuse to see that you need a strong network that pays the advertised stake rate if you want to be successful at promoting long term support, as it stands the stake rate is much lower than it should be thanks to the split threshold and the 700-800blocks/day we are short. I can say with infinite surety that you most definitely did reindex when updating to the POSv wallet, the entire network had to.

the dev's are prob buying up a bunch of cann right now. hehe
They could also be much more devious and thoughtful than they appear to be. All of this could be a long game to shake out some weak hands and make sure there is a crash when the markets finally come back online, this would let them and others buy up some cheap coins. Once the crash supply of coins is drained, then you resume focus on strengthening the network and growing it.

Oh, yea that would do it. Glad to see that was done...I remember seeing it now and thinking "that's cute".

For anyone interested, my mega wallet has staked 112 blocks and appears to be primed to be doing so at least once an hour or so. I have a total of 260 txs/addresses vying to stake, if that doesn't help keep the network moving nothing will.

Crytsey Responce to me, [–]ny2cafuse 1 point an hour ago Crypsty is pretty cautious when it comes to wallet updates. They are offline under the premise that the entire network isn't updated, and there is a chance for a fork if enough hashing power was put into a POW wallet version. Fact of the matter is that the devs should have included code that blocked older wallet versions. This would have blocked the POW wallets from connecting to other nodes, and Cryptsy POT wallets would have been online a long time ago.
Exactly THAT!

For the hell of it, IE for shits and giggles, I launched 0.8.6.4. Its currently reindexing the blockchain but I have at least 9 connections out and they are all running the old wallet. I am nowhere near well versed in the attacking of blockchains, but I am going to use my imagination and see what I can do, if anything with the old wallet and chain.

Once it's resynced check to see how much hashrate is still on it...and what block they are on. I recommend you specify a different data folder so it doesn't mess with your 8.7 version.

I made a copy of the entire folder. I already run ALL of my crypto wallets with a batch file and a custom data folder Current estimated blocks is 844506.

The way I did it was launch a wallet on one of my vps's and then pull down a txt file with those addresses, I then starting cutting and pasting and sending coin to each of them. The cut/paste helped me keep track of which ones I had already sent funds.

Small update on 8.6.4. I am not synced up 100%, I am however past the 975000 first POSv block and there does appear to be someone or something still mining on that chain. Getpeerinfo gives me mostly 8.6.4 as peers with 1 8.7.1. It doesn't appear that I am connected to the POSv network, I will be deleting my peer info and adding my vps to the node list, maybe as the only connection and see what does. I am now fully synced, below is a copy/pasta from the debug console. I turned solo mining on, I will leave it overnight and see if I can get any coins on the old chain. 21:49:09 getmininginfo 21:49:09 { "blocks" : 995311, "currentblocksize" : 1000, "currentblocktx" : 0, "difficulty" : 0.08767412, "errors" : "Critical upgrade to Litecoin 0.10.2.2+. https://litecoin.org/upgrade", "generate" : true, "genproclimit" : -1, "hashespersec" : 6177, "networkhashps" : 8892978, "pooledtx" : 0, "testnet" : false } 21:49:18 getpeerinfo 21:49:18 [ { "addr" : "85.214.23.49:4200", "services" : "00000003", "lastsend" : 1441244958, "lastrecv" : 1441244958, "bytessent" : 970653, "bytesrecv" : 1176416, "blocksrequested" : 0, "conntime" : 1441232981, "version" : 70002, "subver" : "/Hashtoshi:0.8.6.4/", "inbound" : false, "startingheight" : 995037, "banscore" : 0 }, { "addr" : "5.149.51.217:4200", "services" : "00000003", "lastsend" : 1441244958, "lastrecv" : 1441244958, "bytessent" : 1421862, "bytesrecv" : 4567853, "blocksrequested" : 0, "conntime" : 1441233122, "version" : 70002, "subver" : "/Hashtoshi:0.8.6.4/", "inbound" : false, "startingheight" : 995037, "banscore" : 0, "syncnode" : true }, { "addr" : "104.131.2.154:4200", "services" : "00000003", "lastsend" : 1441244870, "lastrecv" : 1441244929, "bytessent" : 1586575, "bytesrecv" : 4315315, "blocksrequested" : 0, "conntime" : 1441233486, "version" : 70002, "subver" : "/Hashtoshi:0.8.6.4/", "inbound" : false, "startingheight" : 995048, "banscore" : 0 }, { "addr" : "208.66.68.115:4200", "services" : "00000003", "lastsend" : 1441244958, "lastrecv" : 1441244958, "bytessent" : 3172830, "bytesrecv" : 4066316, "blocksrequested" : 0, "conntime" : 1441233837, "version" : 70002, "subver" : "/Hashtoshi:0.8.6.4/", "inbound" : false, "startingheight" : 995051, "banscore" : 0 }, { "addr" : "104.229.193.67:4200", "services" : "00000003", "lastsend" : 1441244958, "lastrecv" : 1441244958, "bytessent" : 352562, "bytesrecv" : 1606410, "blocksrequested" : 0, "conntime" : 1441234151, "version" : 70002, "subver" : "/Hashtoshi:0.8.6.4/", "inbound" : false, "startingheight" : 995063, "banscore" : 0 }, { "addr" : "178.62.86.195:4200", "services" : "00000003", "lastsend" : 1441244958, "lastrecv" : 1441244958, "bytessent" : 1054506, "bytesrecv" : 1704088, "blocksrequested" : 0, "conntime" : 1441234205, "version" : 70002, "subver" : "/Hashtoshi:0.8.6.4/", "inbound" : false, "startingheight" : 995064, "banscore" : 0 }, { "addr" : "63.155.237.242:4200", "services" : "00000003", "lastsend" : 1441244883, "lastrecv" : 1441244883, "bytessent" : 743852, "bytesrecv" : 1859324, "blocksrequested" : 0, "conntime" : 1441234256, "version" : 70002, "subver" : "/Hashtoshi:0.8.6.4/", "inbound" : false, "startingheight" : 995067, "banscore" : 0 }, { "addr" : "128.8.124.7:18199", "services" : "00000001", "lastsend" : 1441244869, "lastrecv" : 1441244942, "bytessent" : 8427297, "bytesrecv" : 9673, "blocksrequested" : 0, "conntime" : 1441235815, "version" : 70002, "subver" : "/UMDCoinscope:0.0/", "inbound" : true, "startingheight" : 783913, "banscore" : 0 }, { "addr" : "178.33.209.212:4200", "services" : "00000003", "lastsend" : 1441244956, "lastrecv" : 1441244957, "bytessent" : 442, "bytesrecv" : 75231, "blocksrequested" : 0, "conntime" : 1441244956, "version" : 70002, "subver" : "/Potcoin:0.8.7.1/", "inbound" : false, "startingheight" : 974999, "banscore" : 0 } ]

"Yobit pump alert software" Link in my signature!

Ok im not really getting this. First I fully understand standard POS. But I clearly dont understand POSV. So I create 40 addresses , and then evenly divide my balance between them. So, then do I need to keep moving the coins around? IS more wallets better with much smaller balance in each one? Is 100 wallet addresses better than 40? Im not getting this at all. I have about 20,000 POT, what should I do to get max rewards on this system, as I didnt get hardly any, and I hadnt unlocked it to stake in months.

I want to make sure everyone knows that I just released my software called "Yobit pump alert". THis is custom software that uses an algo to detect the start of a pump here on yobit, the second it starts. YOu can even filter the coins you see by price. Most pumps start less than 100 sats , so you can easily filter the cheap coins, so they are the only ones displayed https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1945937.msg20241953#msg20241953
