if the network is not secure enough to withstand attack it doesn't deserve to be.
The 'attacker' showed eth network is not secure. Instead of recognizing that eth network doesn't deserve to be you tried to kill the messenger? Isn't that called hypocrisy when your words are exactly opposite of what you do? you are wrong...attacker showed programing language was flawed, not that network was insecure. network seem pretty secure to me and most others again you fail to realize that those verifying transactions are the ultimate decision makers. so what hypocracy? if ethc is open to 51% attack then it is flawed

More of the same... hypocrisy! - Network seems pretty secure! - Then why would you attack it? - To try to make it insecure! - Why would you try to make it insecure? - Because if it is insecure it deserves to be attacked...

It's interesting to see how all this was called 'consensus' but I don't think that there was a real consensus on the hard-fork, it's also interesting to see how also poloniex added ethereum classic and especially the pair ETH:ETC .
This is maybe Poloniex's way of speaking their mind that they are against the execution and process of the hard fork. Now they are giving the people a way to make a real choice instead of the fake voting that happened. I think it is good for free choice and freedom.

I'm still asking vitalik to close this thread since this coin no longer exists or is ETC
The advent of Ethereum classic in Poloniex and there are rumors soon on Bitfinex, Vitalik cannot be reached right now. This is becoming a threat to Ethereum fork so he must be really busy and very stressed. He has more important things to do. I think he will lose a lot of weight after all the problems he faced.

What motives has Poloniex for trading the old chain. They could be be in an alliance with the dao hacker. This could go very badly for Poloniex. They are providing a method of exchanging stolen ether.
Are you that desperate to look for a logical answer? Well my friend who is stupid enough to make an alliance with the DAO hacker? That will be bad for business. I think Poloniex is against the execution and implementation process of the hard fork although they could not be against the hard fork. So now they are giving the people free choice.

I think it is good for free choice and freedom.
Ethereum forkers don't care about free choice and freedom. The only thing they care about is getting back money they buried in the DAO.

I feel like people have forgotten that theft is a crime and if you really want cryptocurrencies to replace fiat currencies then you will need a way of recouping stolen funds. IHO this is the first true test of digital currency being able to replace fiat currencies and is the whole reason I mine and support various currencies to begin with.

I told you there would be trolling from BTC people. Why do you engage with them?
Bitcoin has its own problems. That's why it won't friggin fly.
becoin supported the "Gimp Bitcoin" movement and now he "needs" Ethereum to be a failure.
If not, he might have backed the wrong team.
He will only be happy when both chains are dead.

I imagine when btc does finally resolve block size problem (through a hard fork) it will fly. but it wont ever happen unless those supporting network (the miners) agree

Any reasonable, reasoning person should see that there is something shady going on at Poloniex. Whatever your thinking don't be so stupid not to see it. I have already withdrawn all my coins from there. There is something going on internally there, I'm not gonna get caught up in it. You can see it a mile away.

Poloniex is a business and maybe they are just taking advantage of a few suckers willing to trade in a defunct currency. Maybe they think they can make some money off of this anti-fork crowd.

Look BTC is slow to be used as actually currency, and I only mine that coin because I am not wait forever to pay fore something. I mine ETH, EXP, AMS and BTC at this point and the cryptocurrency world needs a real transactional currency and for me the jury is still out on what that will be but if I had to guess it will be ETH.

There is no btc blocksize problem. Everything is the way it should be. Full btc blocks is a good indicator that tx fees are low and should go higher.
