Can someone give the ELI5 on why the forkers seem to be butthurt about ETC? Isn't that the whole idea of the fork? Two chains and all.

Because ETC is not legit.
Legit
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Legit is a slang abbreviation of legitimate.

Legitimacy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Legitimate)
Legitimacy, from the Latin legitimare meaning "to make lawful"

So, who makes the laws on a smart contract blockchain?

its the community and they decided to fork

miners deciding right now which fork is preferred

eth hash rate
4278.8 GH/s

etc hash rate
148.6 GH/s

after climbing as high as 6% it seems to be falling a bit

That's because price needs to rise on etc as miners follow money.

Congrats everyone, coup d'etat was successful! Tyranny and dictatorship of vitalik is over!

So much crying here from oligarchs. ETC is the original chain and is rock solid. ETH is burning to the ground for their decision for a centralized bail out.

From a fellow redditor...eeksskee 3 points an hour ago*

ETHC inherits all of the riskiest parts of Ethereum (competition against Bitcoin, competition against other new coins and projects, scalability issues, technical challenges) and it does so with a 20x hashing disadvantage to Ethereum and a 15x price disadvantage and I would guess about a similar if not greater disparity in terms of people involved. Beyond that, to use ETHC, any person who has traded any ETH based token, including exchanges, would have to resolve that their balance are altered and can't be fixed. On top of that dapps will not work on both in a way that is safe and honestly probably not at all if they have to interact in any with the physical world or world outside Ethereum. This goes for both Maker and Digix, both of whom have stated that they will not support the unforked chain. No devs (or maybe de minimis support?), no dapps, few people, little hashing, no price. The biggest thing ETHC has going for it is the support of people in the Bitcoin world who have been the most hostile towards Ethereum and called it and everyone altcoin a shitcoin. How valuable is that support? How long does it last if ETHC starts succeeding and challenging BTC in their minds?

Has it still not sank into your brain....ETH holders have all the etc lol, we DO NOT need to purchase, unlike you guys that didnt have any ETH and are trying to buy etc or throw mining power behind it.....if nobody is paying more than $1 now, why would they pay $2,3, or $5 in future if nothing but misery is ahead?

NO DAPPS ON ETC & ETC WILL HAVE TO FORK SOON

Are you stupid? Your fuckin' dapps are pretty damn easy to copy. But i don't think people will even bother a lot.

@VladZamfir Ethc will need to hardfork to isolate itself from Eth. Its Dapps will be hampered by replay attacks.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-seaman/ethereum-classic-another_b_11173314.html
Ethereum Classic is, in my view, a total and absolute scam by any traditional financial definition of the word “scam.”

The only scam is forking away the only reason to have a blockchain and smart contracts, ethf is a centralized shitcoin

The true ethereum continues at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1559630.0

So you don't buy ETH for ultimate fungibility then. There's Bitcoin for that. Having a criminal sitting on such a vast sum of eth could threaten CASPER. Ethereum is not Crypto Gold, It's not Crypto Silver, It's not even Crypto Bronze. It's a platform for smart contracts. For that you need a community. For that you need developers. Eth Classic has none of those things. Their supporters comprise of Monero and Bitcoin enthusiasts who want to see Ethereum burn.

If you want to ride the ETC train for a couple of days: Go ahead!

If you want to be part of the Dapp / Smart Contract revolution: Look out for some cheap ETH!
