hi newbie here.......      I downloaded win 64 0.7.2  wallet     it says node needs to synch ........how long does it take to sync ?   and it says listening on {::}:30303

......is this normal ?....am I on the right track ?..

It took several hours to download the whole blockchain on my old mac. Just be patient, it will download the blockchain and launch up once it's done. Just leave it on over the night and you'll be good.

do I have to start from scratch again or does it pick up from last time I tried ?

Maybe it got disconnected? Try opening it again and it should continue from where it dropped off. It does take a long time to download the whole chain, there are a lot of blocks that need to sync up before the Mist client starts up.

geth 1.4.0 win64
Do not know how long it take to sync done with 1,000,000+ block. It depend on your network or device spec.

hi all is it ok to buy into the dao through bittrex as in is it safe how would it work would it be locked to bittrex wallet or should i just use my electron wallet

You do not need to download geth separately. It is included with the mist wallet. If it is downloading properly you should see something like this:



You may have to sync your system clock with one of the NIST time servers. Click the clock > Change date and time settings > Internet Time tab > Change settings > Select server time.nist.gov > Update now

Sometimes im surprised at the higher level of trolls that appear here. lol
I think they been bagholding a loooooong time and fear the ETH. 
They overlook the fact that ETH & ETH projects have helped prop up BTC price alot recently.
