its a very good debate......
this debade shows very well that exist a lot of confuse in the law ,its very complicated(( every state have different laws,the white paper is not so white e.t.c )) and will take months (( if ))to resolve this dispute.....

Why is everyone ignoring the fact ETH has just added a blacklist to the currency as some kind of "fix" to a 3rd party smart contract.

Are people really that naïve to think that this blacklist wont be exploited by political of financial bodies.


Why is ETH even getting involved in a 3rd party software bug, especially with something as controversial as a hardfork.

Now every smart contract developer can ignore BASIC UNIT TESTING and just deploy contracts cause if anything goes wrong the ETH centralized network will just add that contract to their blacklist too.

i don't know much about DAO or what has really happened but as i understand it, the hack was on DAO which will then be converted to eth in 27 days?
if thats so, why not just shut the DAO down and unlink it to eth so that the thief can't get hold of the eth???
that way he gets nothing and the eth investors don't lose out

you cant just "shut down" the DAO. that's the whole point of decentralized apps!

The plan is to close down the DAO according the Stephen Tual. All the Etherum will be given back to the investors.

If the plan work as planned,  mass media might wrote it as a successful defence against "hack or theft"  and in turn increase the perception of ethereum.  offcourse most ppl here might have different perception.

I'm little surprised that the Eth overloads don't entertain some sort of "hack the DAO" contest".

They spread some thousands of eth among different structured DAO's and have the outside world hack away. The reward being the monies in the various DAO's. The DAO amounts could be scaled in accordance to some sort of difficulty metric.
