in its Forbes paper, Laura Shin says:
-bitcoin is a public blockchain, it is the internet ; -ethereum is a private blockchain, something like an intranet.
do you agree ?
another analogy maybe bitcoin is decentralized ethereum is centralized is that right

When downloading blocks when starting MIST, does it use a lot of data? Me has limited internet-data so that would suck really bad.

CAUTION Advised
I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but everyone should read this CoinTelegraph article: http://cointelegraph.com/news/dao-episode-2-risks-ahead-or-can-the-experiment-failLots of "considerable risks" including the fact that Ethereum will drop in price due to the DAO. $100s of millions of ETH have been invested in creating DAO tokens. These tokens will be used to fund projects. To fund projects the DAO tokens will be cashed into fiat $ via ETH. This flood of ETH sells will most likely make the ETH price plummet. In summary the article concludes: "It’s a steep mountain to climb with considerable risks and failure more likely than success."

Dude i heard all this when i first got into BTC. When it was under $20 nobody cared. Then once it became worth something, the warnings come out...just like yours above. Crypto is risky, be it BTC, ETH or THE DAO, your fiat will go up and down alot. Most investors are aware of this before investing. So thanks for heads up and gd luck with your own investment choices.

@ Mr PumperitisYou assume too much. Your name tells where you are coming from - Mr Pumperitis, pumping the price without concern for those whom you might mislead. I was advising caution due to a highly respected article in CoinTelegraph. I believe I was being objective in invititing others to read it - in relation to other posts here. Are you intimidated by that?
I notice that this is a fresh page, so for the convenience of other investors, of which I am one, here is my original post:CAUTION Advised

Maybe caps-lock was enabled when you typed it?

Did you make this account in mist? If you did, you had to type password for encryption.

I have the same feeling. I exchanged a part of my ETH holding for DAO tokens. In the process of exchanging them I was beset by one warning after another about the significant risks. Also one disclaimer after another. I then decided to do more research and came across this article in the CoinTelegraph: http://cointelegraph.com/news/dao-episode-2-risks-ahead-or-can-the-experiment-failI posted a link to the article here a few hours ago, and advised caution, but it it has been smothered by other posts.

Odd circumstance here,,, any ideas? Just installed 3- R9 290's in a rig previously occupied by 3 - 7950's. Went ahead and updated drivers etc. All 3 cards are recognized by system. started hashing, all 3 cards show work and all seems fine. However I am not seeing any hash on the assigned worker in supernova pool. All other rigs/workers hashing fine as normal and showing hash on pool.... ok, at wits end here... I have always mined with 280x's and 7970's and 7950's.. is there anything different here with 290's I am missing? Any suggestions appreciated ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) THX

is the mist wallet ever going to release something that works? 7.4 here, win7pro x64, i5 3570k, 16 gigs ram, everything on samsung 840 pro ssd.
70% of the time it just locks up on start. the other 25% it locks up as soon as you click something. maybe 5% it may actually do something.
xfered some eth to the dao, shows as a good transaction 6 hours ago. but the eth are still in the account and dao value hasnt changed.
now i cant copy addresses out. highlight, ctrl c (or edit->copy) it helpfully flashes COPIED TO CLIPBOARD twice (twice??) and then nothing is in the clipboard.
this is absolute junk. how on earth are we supposed to vote, write contracts etc when it doesn't even load or when it does load, work??
guess ill be HODLing, since I cant actually MOVE them if I tried.
