Since ETH is rather volatile right now while OMG is going strong,
is it a good idea to convert all my ETH to OMG and convert back to ETH at a later point?
Ofcourse, assuming OMG will start rising again
(similar or faster than ETH)
once the bull sentiment comes back.

So many predictions out of thin air and absolute horseshit going around at the moment.
It didn't drop as hard or fast as some hoped, I guess.
Draw lines on charts all you like,
an announcement could come out tomorrow that changes everything, down or up.

Ups and Downs, everything all right! To be fair, other than Raiden there hasn't been any fundamental for an increase. Everything has been rumored,
or news that something is planned to happen in the future. But an ETF could get approved, Metropolis is about to be started, they could announce something new on Devcon 3 and many other good things to come.
HODL my friends.

Is it even possible for ETH to decouple from BTC?
Apart from the ETH/BTC pair, there's all the alt coin pairs with ETH and BTC, how does it work if we decouple, wouldn't it just create constant arbitrage opportunities which would "re-couple" us?

Eth is pretty much getting hammered right now, I expect it to go down to 200 USD.

It's not ETH's fault, it;s just these cowboy speculators that  trade on Coinsbase or other centralized exchages. They can easily swap coins back and forth into fiat, while we the true ETH holders who have out ETH outside exchanges, take the hits.

Fkin fiat traders  Smiley

that coin deserve to dump, until any improvment. right now, im stuck on transfering ETH , 21hr, still not finished, 31000 confirmations .. Wouaw, and you want that to moon ?lol

Thats why the update is comming to fix that deleys right? what you guys think will happen to ETH price in the long run?

If they fix it, then I can see 100 billion by the end of the year. But right now I am bearish on ETH.

It's a good project but the TX capacity and the bloated software code really needs to be fixed. This turing complete idea has to be abandoned and we should strive for sandboxed smart contracts.

Sort of like a decentralized  and sandboxed smart contract platform should be the new motto, not this turing complete nonsense.

Are you a software engineer (or related engineering) by profession?

Is any chance download and synch ETH wallet for today ? for normal personal laptop with HDD disc ?

Because i trying from 5 days ( on 2 diff laptops )  and still downloading... "never ending story" Smiley
What i can do ? new disc ssd ? or waht...? any help ?

Yeah it's becoming harder and harder to catch up with the network lately. To sum up: more transactions --> bigger blocks --> more trouble downloading chaindata.

Two solutions:
    - 1) Use an online wallet like MEW (which doesn't require you to download the chaindata)
    - 2) If you really want to run a full node (which is good for the network, thank you)
           * 2.a) Be sure you have a good Internet connection (fiber/cable)
           * 2.b) Get an SSD (256 Go is a minimum given that the size of the full blockchain is already around 150 Go)
           * 2.c) If you want to save some storage and some time, erase the chaindata you already downloaded and start Mist from cmd.exe using --fast flag

IMHO SSD is becoming less and less optional, given that I have a 7200 rpm HDD and a fiber connection to the Internet and still barely manage to keep in touch with the last blocks.

Hopefully the future improvement on the Ethereum network will help on that matter!

No I am a market analyst by profession and investor. I can smell crap ahead of time otherwise I'd be already in it.

My job is to find value in things and make money from it. I do make money usually. And I can tell from my experience and from the research I have done that the Turing Complete thing is either:
* A stupid marketing gimmick, at which point it signals dishonesty from the Dev team
* They do mean it literally, at which point it's a huge security vulnerability as software, smart contracts, have to be 100% sandboxed from the main core protocol, otherwise you risk the appearance of "malware smart contracts".

Due to lack of evidence of the contracy I assume it's the second, so it's a very very stupid thing to do and I don't want to hold ETH when some hacker somewhere will find a way to crash the entire system if this issue is not addressed.

Sandboxing is the key.

Well, all I can say is, "Keep the FUD coming fellas!" (SMILE)  I'm not a rich man so I like the low prices....more, more, more....keep the dumpers dumping and I will keep my bag open!  There's too much time, effort, and money involved for this project to fail.  Add to that all the brain power that the project has attracted, and  we can bet money it wont fail.  Maybe that will be one of the first predictions Augur will predict....hmmm???

I think the short term price fluctuation is not a worry. As long as there are more usages, that is fine.

Thank you,

You gave me a lot to think about. But I really want to test ETH wallet and all technological possibilities. Smiley

I like and I must try Smiley What true value does ETH have without 100% goodworking wallet?

I know today's ETH price Smiley
But I do not think that is the true value for today's present state of the wallet.

I like ETH and I wish you all the best ...but for me for today is useless

Is a .08+ ratio really too much to ask for?  Huh
I'm wondering how long BTC can keep rising solely on its first mover advantage.
To my understanding Ethereum is objectively the superior
tech so why do we keep lacking behind?  Huh

Any experience with expediting a support ticket with Bittrex?
My ETH deposit that has 800+ confirmations has not been credited or even recognized by Bittrex for almost a day now,
usually it took only minutes.
100% confident I sent it to the right address as I've done this dozen of times before.

Regulation, banning, expanding, and acceptance of crypto is just getting started. Get use to it.
Stop ignoring China news as fake news because you don't like the message.
Stop pretending governments will ignore perceived threats to the financial system.
Stop pretending ICOs will continue to be unregulated.
Embrace the fact the world is waking up to blockchain technology and it's going to change nearly everything.
Early investors in this industry will be faced with risk and some will be rewarded, some will get badly burned,
it's that simple.

Can I just remind you guys that when we were at the highest market cap at 116billion, we were at 420..
so honestly do we really even need the chinese to reach ATH again?
People need to realize that just because china has a billion + population doesnt mean anything when most would be poor to begin with..
you could have the population of America investing in crypto more than the chinese based on the population wealth..
i would bet that the average american would be richer than the average chineseman..
