ETH under $300 is unquestionably cheap at half the price of its real value. I wouldn't mind buying a lot when the price goes down again. The type of development ETH has moving forward with Metropolis is incomparable.

How will ethereum be affected by future securities regulations if exchanges are not allowed to trade tokens classed as a security?

It's good for overall situation and ecosystem. Legal frameworks for security tokens are needed. So I think when regulation will stated then exchanges will available for security tokens. And very soon we will also have a ton of decentralized exchanges

So, Ethereum Metropolis Hard Fork to Appear on coming Monday. As I came to know, just metropolis update. Not so much as a hard fork. Right?

I agree that the bear trend hasn't broken yet, however I still think that this level is a good buy.
We might see another bottom yet, but I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for $200 again.
Imo, it's more likely that if it dips again, we'll form a double bottom, higher than the previous one at $200, and start a reversal from there. Otherwise (if it dips to $200 or breaks down even lower), ETH would be breaking down out of the trend that it started back in March/April, which seems unlikely given Metropolis will be releasing very soon.
The last time ETH dropped under the longer term trend line, it triggered the reversal and set up the August bull run.

Oh man, why is ARK tanking so hard?
I realize that everything else is tanking as well but ARK was one of the few coins that stayed afloat. And right after I gave in and traded some ETH for it, it takes a hit.
Is there any specific reason for it?
Well, other than me buying it

I'm currently 100% ETH + ERC20 but I want something else to diversify. I'm looking at either FCT or IOTA ... those are the 2 that stick out to me in terms of actually doing something different enough with IOTA being the one that really sticks out to me.

Yes, as there is a consensus, no hard fork, just a major update in the code. The update has a positive effect on long term as it is meant Ethereum is well following its road map. So, guys get ready for gains over the next few months.

You're confusing your terms.  The Metropolis update can only be done through a hard fork. It brings new features which break the old consensus, so the chain must fork. This doesn't mean there will be a chain split though. Forking a chain is normal, it's how the tech improves and evolves. A chain split occurs when a minority doesn't want to continue with the new, forked chain.

As you mentioned, there's no contention over the Metropolis update, therefore, there won't be a chain split (there will be a hard fork though).

If you want to save some space, you can erase the chaindata folder and start geth from cmd.exe using --fast flag.

     * Open cmd.exe
     * Navigate to geth directory by running cd %APPDATA%\Mist\binaries\geth and look for geth.exe
     * Execute the following command: geth.exe --fast --cache 1024

You should be around 30 GB.
