Quote
Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) are commodities, while the status of XRP is still unclear, the chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) said.

CFTC Chairman Heath Tarbert has reiterated the regulator’s stance on both Bitcoin and Ether in an interview with online news outlet Cheddar on Jan. 13. Tarbert said:
“So right now, Bitcoin and Ether are the two that we think fall under our jurisdiction.”

ETH price starts decreasing in the market. We have to see whether this trend will continue or not because very soon there is a Bitcoin halving whether it will survive at the current value or not.

Decreasing? I think I saw a different movement..based on https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/, ETH has increase 10% today and that's a good sign that soon it would rise again, we are very close to $200 again, well, at least that's the next stop I think ETH would achieve.

last year our high was just around $300 IIRC, but this time for sure it will be higher because we saw how BSV made ATH today and for sure ETH can do that with the hype of ETH 2.0 happening.

lets give the floor to BSV right now. but for sure, they cant maintain that price rise. i do believe that eth is just a sleeping giant, its time will come and it will be soon. if you ask yourself, why will eth compete with BSV? actually theres nothing to compete with this fake btc. at least with eth network, we know that they are valuable in the community and many are depending on them because of the created projects under eth platform. so is there any project depending on BSV?

Gavin Andresen, one of the earliest bitcoin developer and one of very few who communicated by email with Satoshi Nakamoto, bitcoin’s inventor, appears to now be focusing primarily on ethereum’s ecosystem. ->

If BTC makes an extended bull run I'm sure ETH will follow. But it's going to take a decent period of investor confidence to drive it.

BTC did not extend its bull run, so we are now again back to its normal scenario for the last 2 years?

good thing now that btc is already stable at $8K, if it will have another run, probably we will stop at $10,000.
Bitcoin and ETH are moving at the same time, It's been so long seeing this. Who knows this might be what we all were waiting for.

Exactly, this is the first time after very long because previously when the price of Bitcoin, ETH price starts decreasing in the market. We have to see whether this trend will continue or not because very soon there is a Bitcoin halving whether it will survive at the current value or not.

This trend will decline in the next few days, but do not rule out the possibility if this trend will continue until bitcoin halving arrives, let's wait for the next surprise. At least I have prepared it all.

Bitcoin is genius. It solved the decentralization problem that long existed in computer science. It enabled people to exchanging value without the need to trust any central authority.
Developing ethereum doesn’t require genius but capital which its developers have plenty of.
Ethereum can go much higher from here but never forget Bitcoin is the first mover and is much superior.

Welcome to the New Beginning

When the grand experiment that is bitcoin began, the anonymous wizard desired to test two parameters- a trustless, decentralized database enjoying security enforced by the austere relentlessness of cryptography and a robust transaction system capable of sending value across the world without intermediaries. Yet the past five years years have painfully demonstrated a third missing feature: a sufficiently powerful Turing-complete scripting language. Up until this point, most innovation in advanced applications such as domain and identity registration, user-issued currencies, smart property, smart contracts, and decentralized exchange has been highly fragmented, and implementing any of these technologies has required creating an entire meta-protocol layer or even a specialized blockchain. Theoretically, however, each and every one of these innovations and more can potentially be made hundreds of times easier to implement, and easier to scale, if only there was a stronger foundational layer with a powerful scripting language for all of these protocols to build upon. And this need is what we seek to satisfy.

Ethereum is a modular, stateful, Turing-complete contract scripting system married to a blockchain and developed with a philosophy of simplicity, universal accessibility and generalization. Our goal is to provide a platform for decentralized applications - an android of the cryptocurrency world, where all efforts can share a common set of APIs, trustless interactions and no compromises. We ask for the community to join us as volunteers, developers, investors and evangelists seeking to enable a fundamentally different paradigm for the internet and the relationships it provides.

Who is Behind Ethereum?

Our primary core devs are:

  • Vitalik Buterin → Inventor of Ethereum, protocol developer and researcher
  • Gavin Wood →Lead C++ developer
  • Jeffrey Wilcke → Lead Go developer

Primary non-development members include:

  • Anthony Di Iorio → Founder and Executive Director of the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada, Bitcoin Decentral, KryptoKit
  • Mihai Alisie → Founder of Bitcoin Magazine and Egora
  • Joseph Lubin → Software engineer, Quantitative Analyst
  • Stephan Tual → Founder of Ursium, Communications

A more extensive but non-exhaustive list of team members can be found here.

I have some questions if i may please......

firstly, i have heard conflicting projections regarding the future of ethereum but my overall instinct is that it is going to soar in the next 2-3 years. I am at a crossroads right now where i am able to cash in 8k worth of crypto and im thinking to split it between bitcoin and ethereum, I just need to decide how much of each.

What would you advise and what do you expect will happen with the market in the next 12 months and beyond? many thanks in advance. Mike.

Only you can answer that for yourself. But I would ask (ask yourself, don't reveal to the internet) what your current holdings are and their distribution. For example if you have no crypto at all right now after cashing out then I would skew reinvestment more heavily toward bitcoin than ethereum but have a bit of both. It's also down to your comfort with risk. Depending on your other assets, if any, you may want to consider stocks, cash, and/or precious metals as part of it. Maybe you go 70/30 of btc/eth but your overall crypto investment is 30% of your portfolio for example. I think the next 12 months are going to be very good for both btc and eth but no one really knows for sure.

Well, all ETC hodlers will have a big chance to make some good money here if ETC will be implemented in sharding on ETH going pos (2.0)

Btw, I think that Vitalik has never sold his ETC from the fork  Roll Eyes

If you don't believe it or don't get it, I don't have the time to try to convince you, sorry.

How you can say this Vitalik still holding ETC even he already sold his ETH too than it sounds weird. There is big chance he off load all his holdings at the peak time of previous cycle. Than don't keep high expectations from that guy he is still holding that free coins.

Don't fight in between us, whether he is holding or sold ETC, first our intention, whether how long it is going to take for them to deliver the product what they mentioned because they kept postponing their dates, do we have any specific about the POS launch date?

I think Vitalik is not that stupid, surely he still holds the coin both ETC and ETH. Maybe it's still not valid right so there must be a double check so that it does not become misinformed. That's all my advice.

That sounds really weird for me personally. I believe vitalik has already received his ETC but he never tries to be more transparent about that. Another non sense thing is about the foundation is rarely spent bitcoin to funding its development progress. A lot of bitcoin is still available on its ethereum ico hot wallet.

Even if Vitalik already sold most of his ETH and ETC holdings, he should still own some.

I just don't believe Vitalik now holds zero ETH or ETC.

I think Vitalik will certainly have some ETH and maybe some ETC. He will surely do it like many other people. Sell when the price is high and buy back when the price is low. So I strongly assume that he has new coins again, because the prices are still low at the moment. But either way, this is just my guess.  Wink

Could it be related to the alleged multi-millions he made from selling lots of ETH when it was over the $1000 mark  Grin

Just had a look at Vitalik's Github; the guy seems to be less interested in coding lately:

Everyone has to take a short break at some points. We are all human, not robots and can not works continuously and aggressively from years to years. Vitalik is a very perfectionist and I believe he will return to code and upgrade Ethereum, with supports from Ethereum core team members too. When times reach the right point, important upgrade of Ethereum will be released. It depends not only on Ethereum development pace but also depends on market conditions.

Well, it seems like he has been on rest since the first week of September. It's a nice long rest, that's for sure! Tongue

Could it be related to the alleged multi-millions he made from selling lots of ETH when it was over the $1000 mark  Grin

Hehe, maybe. Grin

Coding is writing right?
Ask some famous writer what is he/she doing when there is a “brainfart” going on
The brain needs pause from time to time, and Vitlalik also needs a rest, to prepare his child for the 2.0 phase

If you don't believe it or don't get it, I don't have the time to try to convince you, sorry.
