Large wallet investors in the Ethereum blockchain have scooped up 3.5 million ETH to add to their holdings of 28.55 million.
Whales have continued their accumulation of the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization based on data from Santiment.
Analysts believe Ethereum price is in the buying zone close to the $1,300 level.

What a shitshow. From the binance page :"Block creators and validators may maximize their rewards. By rearranging transactions inside a block, a process known as maximal extractable value (MEV)."

That means : every transaction you do on a DEX is front-run by institutions and you directly pay the cost, unless you set your network fee pretty high and slippage really low.  The more i read about POS the more i dislike it.

Was MEV a system operators could make money from before the merge on the beacon system or has this only been true post-merge?

Also, separately, ETH might go deflationary quite soon. From a peak of 13k ETH issuance down to about 1.5k right now I think and dropping rapidly.

Is it dangerous to store coins and tokens in Ethereum due to the risk of payment censorship in the Ethereum?
I have seen that 59-70% of blocks are subject to payment censorship.

I am having problems accessing old ETH address created with Ledger Nano S and MEW a few years ago. I assume it is because of an exotic derivation path I used back then. Is there any way (or tool) to determine the derivation path from a provided ETH address?
If you changed the derivation path yourself, you will have to select this path by brute force. And I change the derivation path in a third-party program when I want to get access to the second and subsequent wallets on the ledger.

The link you provided is behind a paywall making it unreadable unless payment is made to sign up to their subscription but I think the point you made has been noted but the claim has been disputed by some and dismissed by others:
Nasdaq Article

I have to say there is big difference between what Vitalik Buterin stated citing data suggested a reduction in 0.2 energy consumption as a result of Ethereum moving to Proof of stake and that actually happening. There is no evidence there was any increase or decrease in worldwide energy consumption as a result of Ethereum abandoning their proof or work set-up.

When those mining farms, businesses and individuals stopped mining ETH (after it moved to proof of stake), they switched over to mining any other proof of work crypto they thought would be lucrative and that process in itself would not facilitate any noticeable drop of energy consumption on a global level.

Worldwide electricity consumption ‘drops 0.2%’ as Ethereum crypto mines shut down, researcher claims
Before ‘the Merge’, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency had similar energy demands to the Netherlands

Having a safe CEX: proof of solvency and beyond
Most updated version will be here:
https://vitalik.ca/general/2022/11/19/proof_of_solvency.html

"Conclusions: the future of better exchanges
In the short term, there are two clear "classes" of exchanges: custodial exchanges and non-custodial exchanges. Today, the latter category is just DEXes such as Uniswap, and in the future we may also see cryptographically "constrained" CEXes where user funds are held in something like a validium smart contract. We may also see half-custodial exchanges where we trust them with fiat but not cryptocurrency."

The hacker behind the theft of more than $447 million of crypto from the crypto exchange FTX has been again spotted moving their ill-gotten funds.
Accoding to Etherscan data, between 4:11 to 4:17 pm UTC on November 21, the attacker moved a total of 180,000 Ether across 12 newly created wallets — each receiving 15,000 ETH. The total amount moved totaled $199.3 million at current prices.
