Well intentioned in the idea of bringing fpga to the smaller guy. <snip>...  Anyway willj. I’ll say that was quite the contradictory statement I made.  I’ll do better next time!   Thanks for calling me out. That’s how people make the most significant changes in their life.  Being called out for their BS!

BR

BR, I wasn't calling you out for any sort of BS.  I was more just trying to understand your view and your argument.  I am hopeful for mining, I may be wrong, I just don't happen to have a crystal ball.

PM me if you haven't, I have some questions that would be better addressed via PMs.

It would just be nice if the one stream out for the Acorns wasn't some crap coin... Yay, so the acorn works... sort of? Its like, there are no more cars in the world, except a Yugo, but at least you have a Yugo, lol

Christmas is here. 7 month since the first post with the GPU accelerating specs.

All the fear about the FPGAs kicking out the "normal" at home miner guys....

Back then a GTX 1080 Ti had 15 MH/s ... now its a GTX 1070 reaching that hashrate.

Are your accelerationrates from june still up to date or was the gap closed by better miner software like t-rex for X16r e.g.?
Any statements to current acceleration values for X16R?

ill answer your troll.

i shut down my gpus a couple weeks ago, they are just losing money at this point. so all those miner improvements for gpus are moot to me, they all lose money. only mining with acorns and a bcu1525 right now.

x16r is supposed to be available for the bcus in january. who know really though. sqrl acorn gpu boost miner? soon? maybe.

i also have faith that the sqrl team will deliver new bitstreams and the sqrl gpu boost miner. is that misplaced faith? perhaps. but until then, i also have popcorn.

Are you seriously saying you don't think FPGAs are going to take a chunk out of the GPU mining realm? Are you insane? You really want to compare that to some improvements on maxing hashrate on a good? Do you even know if power consumption went up on those or was it during the time when no one gave a shit and just wanted more hashrate?

FPGAs are going to take a huge chunk out of the current mining sector, you can either be ignorant or prepared.

Just went to discord
and no software as of today

Code:
SQRL_LimsToday at 9:54 AM
All Acorn orders have shipped I believe, minus any that were too close to Christmas
just waiting on SQRL Miner and Acorn Miner is available meanwhile
PharmEcisToday at 9:59 AM
just waiting for SQRL to clean up the mess Kristy made is all
SQRL_LimsToday at 9:59 AM
for your previous question @Honja it would fully accelerate two GPUs, sometimes the others may be affected but it would average out to 2/6 cards accelerated
SQRL_MeatlegsToday at 10:00 AM
Being completely transparent with you Honja, I would wait until the accompanying software (SQRL miner) is released. No doubt there will be reviews, as it stands just now, the acorns can only be used for standalone mining on zen protocol.
Just wanting to temper your expectations there
BDFToday at 10:37 AM
The Acorn to GPU ratio will vary by algorithm as well, as the data rate requirements will differ algo to algo as different parts and proportions will be offloaded to the FPGA to compute in real time.

Frequently Asked Questions | SQRL
What is Acorn? How does Acorn work? What CPU do I need? Can I load my own bitstreams on Acorn? Get all the answers for cryptocurrency mining with Acorn.

The main selling point would be the low power draw of the device vs a gpu.
and that there is no public software for it yet ti mine in conjunction with gpus
The hardest part for most people is meeting the data speed requirements for how connected the acorn and gpu is
as mining hardware currently trades away that very stat to allow for more devices to be used at once

@zee the thing FPGAs and ETH as far as Acorns go is they are suppose to reduce the amount power consumed by GPUs.

So hypothetically speaking what if i owned a 6-way 1060 and 1 acorn cle 215? Will it just give me the performance boost on 2 GPU's and iw ould get normal regular hashrate on the other 4?
SQRL_LimsToday at 9:50 AM
I'll query that but might be some time before I have an answer due to it being holiday season
hopefully someone here can answer meanwhile
HonjaToday at 9:53 AM
i see.. im quite interested in purchasing this for my gpu farm, but alot of mystery surrounding this project atm still and alot of questions unanswered
hopefully some more answer will come out soon as i see ppl actually have the products in hand

I got my acorn on thanks giving day ... haven’t done shit with them

Damnit, I screwed this up already
If I could have a do-over, I would wish away the rule that says you may not wish for more wishes.  My second wish would be for more wishes.  My third wish would be my previous first wish (regarding non perverse-instantiation of wishes)

yeah and I ordered a m10 31 th at 2200 watts for 870 shipped to USA due in 6 days

which is no big deal but I had spent 794 in squirrel gear.  I was lucky to get a refund.  Before btc dropped.

I feel for those waiting on this gear/software

Mine look cool just sitting on my desk. They run so quiet too, no errors, 10000MH/s stand alone. Its a wonder these didn't come out sooner. Oh yeah they did!, I think they were called "Pet Rock" not Acorns

It is sad they do not have the full software as promised.

Won't matter much if it comes out it is Jan vs Aug and  the prices have dropped a ton.

Could be much worst, You could have ordered a dcr1 obelisk and got rekt.  No delivery, no product, 1 year delays, negative profitability. USA companies struggle to compete with china companies for delivering mining products.

I have to say that what fascinates me the most are those people who are constantly discussing (on Discord) some mods involving Acorn and all the subtleties of mining ZEN Protocol, without any concern about gains, money and time wasted. This is unreal to me.
