This depend on the amount of bitcoin or ethereum you are holding. Take for instance, someone holding about 1 btc, the turn over rate if it moons, will be higher than the person holding just 0.1 0r 0.01 btc.
I also believe in diversification when it comes to holding coins or altcoins. Try to diversify you holdings. Invest in good altcoins that you are sure are good for hold.

It is better to diversify your investment risks by investing in several types of coins. Depending on the level of the risks you are willing to take to determine the % of each coin in your portfolio.

Hey guys, do you think It is better to hold main crypto currencies like bitcoin it ether? Or you hold all your money in alt coins?
The logic is really simple. If you are in a lot of hurry and are looking for short term growth then look no further and invest in an altcoin.
Altcoins are known to give better and more short term returns compared to bitcoin and ethereum. It is because these coins often go through a lot of pump and dump cycles and hence high volatility in price.
Bitcoin can be looked as an option if you are looking for long term growth. Bitcoin's price will not vary as much and can be kept as a long term asset.

You cannot hold all the coins in alts choose the only best currencies if you hold untrusted currency it may give huge loss and gives only pressure in your mind so make a good investment in alt coins.

To keep a large amount of money in altcoins is risky, because most of the coins in the market cryptocurrency this is just rubbish and did not prove themselves in any way. Personally, I keep most of the money in eth and btc.

It's better to just diversify your money and put it in bitcoin and some trusted altcoins. Every coin has different trading volume and price volatility depending on its movement in the market. Therefore, putting your money into different accounts will lead to profit. You just need the right amount of time and patience in doing so, since you are talking about holding.

Diversify your portfolio. Imho, that is the best thing to do. Put like 30% in ETH and BTC and like 30% in some top 10 cryptocurrencies and the rest of the assets in some good top 100-200 coins, also try to find out some gems in the top 1000 list. They are surely there and they can bring mad ROIs. I would also advise (and that is not a financial advice) to check out Tether. It's a crypto that stays around 1$ all the time regardless of market volatility. Check it's graph here: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/tether/.

If you looking for a long term investment, I advise you to invest in bitcoin and maybe ethereum, generally the high potential crypto are good for long term investment, but if you look for a quick investment you can search some ICO projects or some cheap crypto that has some potential to increase in the future.

Altcoins are a little bit risky for longterm holding since most of them are pretty immature and tend to be changeable. BTC is much more stable, but it suffers from hardforks due to lack of flexibility laid down in the original design. I'm pretty sure those hardforks would significantly harm bitcoin unless participants manage to regularize the matter through a process of on-chain governance.

I think to be successful you need to have many different coins. Of course bitcoin and ethereum should be the basis of each purse. It seems to me that this strategy is followed by all crypto professionals.

It is better to diversify and hold as much as you can spread out among various main coins like bitcoin and ethereum and then also split up investment allocations across alternative currencies.  While you are at it, pay attention to air drops.  Many popular and well known coins in existence today were initially offered along with air drops to easily gain a position in those coins.  It is a great way to diversify.

Don't put your everything in one currency. It's wise to invest in multiple currencies and even in ICOs.

I think that it is quite profitable to store bitcoin and ether, the main thing is to buy them at a good price, but do not forget about some promising altcoins.

First thing first, you need to learn about term altcoin first, altcoin is all coin which is not Bitcoin, so Ether is also Altcoin. While in your case I usually devide coins into Major and Minor coins, or devide them into some tiers.
And for which one is better, I think we should split it to major and minor altcoin, better proportion will have better result, remember do not put all of your eggs in one basket.
