What's causing that hype is, that coinmarketcap is operating with wrong numbers:
There are less that 90k coins in circulation, but it states there are >10M.
Still hope this coin works though.
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

If this coin reaches 30$ in the morning I'm 100% that the dev if he ever planed to pump and dump now it will only pump!

I'm sure he wasn't expecting this!

Good job dev!

I like this coin and I hope you succeed!

Space for rent if its still trending

Queue 40Gh/s burst from Mintcoin and massive dumps in the morning and crazy manipulation

I hate the fact I sold 70 of these already and even more so that I really did want to mine this from day 1 forum post none-stop. Grrr.

It is fun but quite concerning to see all this speculation. The coin needs infrastructure for the Airdrop to be a huge success. You should really support it by building that up. That is a solid investment.

Better question is "for how long". Seeing how there will be probably around 100k Icelanders dumping their coins for BTC, then dumping BTC for fiat, this coin might surely have serious implications - but not the ones you think of.

What is your plan to profit from your vision?

Depends. Can I short it for a month somewhere?

Actually, seeing how if the current rate were to be sustained, the premine would be worth 300,000 BTC... I'm almost considering shorting BTC too.

that is actually quite worrying.. i really hope a payment processor jumps on this opportunity to get an entire nations worth of business! if all the citizens dont dump their coins straight away then i think this could work.. i just hope they are being educated enough to know not to dump straight away!

An entire nation's worth of business? Explain to me your thinking. How would that be possible. Each citizen gets 31 coins. You think that constitutes their entire economy? THINK, people...THINK.

And stop going on about the market cap...it's NOT REAL.

You wish. If I was an Average Joe, I probably wouldn't even bother to read what a bitcoin is, just claim my $600 at current rates and be happy.

And I won't even bother saying what I'd do if I was the developer, sitting at 10 million coins while everybody else is ripping a mere 90k out of each other's throats.

Now you got me confused, how they are going to deliver coins to every citizen without the government support. But hey, maybe they wont Wink

Government will obviously object to this experiment. And as the airdrop closes in, you will start seeing more and more clueless lies written by authorities.

Buying large amounts of AUR. The spread on both exchanges are rubbish. PM if you're selling at a reasonable price.

has the developers talked to the government to see if they will accept and adopt it? will there will be stores and businesses that will accept it? Would this actually be able to be an official currency for the Icelandic people or will this be a large handout\charitable donation to them. Also if a whale mines and buys to get a large percentage of this coin could they theoretically control the worth of the Icelandic currency if it is accepted. By dumping everything he\she would have and plummeting the price. I want this coin to succeeded so im just pointing out any problems\ my misunderstandings early on.

At the very least Auroracoin paves the way for other similar copycat national coins where they have national ids.  Think Singapore Coin, Taiwan Coin, HK Coin, Austria Coin, Belgium Coin, Czech, Poland - heck most of the EU.

The market cap for each coin will go up and the citizens get "free" money.  Some of these coins may succeed and some won't depending on the devs.  Overall, Bitcoin will be the big winner due to populations becoming aware of cryptos.

BTW, the biggest "enemy" of bitcoin is apathy with only 0.02% of global population owning any.

Guys, mine AUR on p2pool to help decentralisation:
http://p2pool.CrunchPool.com:12347/
Our node has the best efficiency in the network, hardly any DOA or orphan shares!
- and we have the capacity to handle a lot more miners
