I would need you to give me the source code and trust me not to release it... The computers I rent for this use tsocks, and apparently the ypool mining software has to be built on them so they can go through tsocks correctly. I've had this issue with clintar's binaries also.

To remove the 10% dev fee on b8 version just edit the binary using vi editor :

vi xptminer-sse4-b8

:,$s/RUhMA8bvsr48aC3WVj3aGf5p1zytPSz59o/Your_Address/
(ENTER)
:wq

Are you sure this works? Ypool still reports a 10% fee for workers.

Yes, the fee goes to Your_Address...

Are you sure, because the address I used as a replacement wasn't showing up on ypool's dev fees page (the one that shows the balance of dev fee accounts)

I don't think that dev page updates very often. Check the latest block and you'll see a list of the dev addresses with current balances.

Can you reverse tunnel through ssh instead?  If you have one computer outside that doesn't need socks, just do:

ssh -f -N -L8080:ypool.net:8080 <exterior-host>

and then run with -o http://localhost:8080/

Actually - for the next few days:

Does the Riecoin foundation exist enough to the point where there's an address I should add to the dev fee list (replacing part of mine)?

I'm running Dave's miner and happy to pay 10% since its 30% faster.
And anyway He's already agreed to remove the dev fee in a few more days.

Um, maybe, but it's trickier for a p2p thing like the riecoind.  I don't know enough about it to answer the question intelligently, I'm afraid.

Have you tried LD_PRELOAD for the tsocks library?  That's the usual trick...

To be frank, no it does not yet. Right now, we are just finding people interested. Once that is completed, we will have to figure out a trustless system so that people who donates Riecoin can rest assure that the foundation will not take a single Riecoin out without permission from the community. We want it so that the foundation and Riecoin will not be labled as a scam in anyway. Website designing for Riecoin has already started but it won't be published until the foundation is established with a trustless system. Unless you can trust me with the Riecoin (which is idiotic and senseless to trust one entity with an organization funds), it will take at least a month for the foundation to be established correctly.

Timeline (not set in stone):

March 15-March 29: Foundation sign up

March 30-April 4: Create a trustless system for the community to donate Riecoin

April 5-April 6: Upload Riecoin Foundation to riecoinfoundation.org, announce the team, get started.

April 7-Indefinite date: Get community members to donate and find ways to improve Riecoin using donation by providing bounties for:

  • Android App
  • More Developers
  • Marketplace
  • Wallet Design (like Particle)
  • Widespread Merchant Integration with bounties for the first couple that accept Riecoin

And the list goes on.....

EDIT: If you'd like, create a wallet address of your own dedicated to the Riecoin Foundation so when the time comes, you can transfer the coin inside your Riecoin Foundation wallet to the actually Riecoin Foundation wallet.

@miki, did you really want to start an arms race?  I have no desire to make it hard for people who really object to the dev fee to remove it, so I left it simple as you noticed - with help - but you should consider the long-term effects of your actions with respect to the incentives for miners and developers and creating a thriving community for the coin.

well 10% looked a bit extreme guys...dont you think?

when clintar had 2% fee i mined for 10 days even after removing his fee

but dont you think that 10% is too much? and we already know that you guys mine with optimized miners before us...

I dont say if it is bad or not to have a fee. or mine with optimized miners. after all those that have the skills must gain. I am saying that if fees are extreme people dont like that and will find their way to not pay it... it needs an equilibrium.

No one's forcing you to use it. Like I always say to whoever asks me remove/reduce fees on my miners, "You pay a premium for premium"

actually noone is forcing me to pay the premium when it is clearly easy to delete the fee... i pay the premium cause i believe it helps innovation and those who deserve it. But when i believe it is too much...

Preventing people like you cause us too work hard on protecting our software and wasting time that would have been otherwise used in something more productive

you are a bit of jerk for saying "people like you" ...

i am mining with full 10% fee although i can delete it...And i always did.

I am just trying to argue about fee being too much. I am having a conversation... Since i suppose by using your premium product i can also criticize it, cant i?

gatra: any updates besides the website?

I pushed to github a few minutes ago. I didn't tag it yet, but everything is there on the default branch.
It is needed to recompile everything:
- the riecoind daemon had a bug in submitblock (until now all miners used getwork instead of submitblock, but stratum-mining uses it)
- the stratum-mining also had bugs in the RPC call to submit a block
- fixed a bug with 64bit-overflow in the cpuminer that made it hang and test the same range over and over

Now blocks are showing in my wallet (tested with testnet).

Please test!

After this is confirmed to work, it looks like my next urgent task is an open source optimized miner. I understand how to optimize mine, just didn't have the time to do it yet. My cpuminer is probably the fastest of the ones that use the 2310 primorial, but those using larger primorials (dfg, supercomp) are much faster....

Thanks for the patience,
gatra

and if it works... please donate!
