Another win for Liverpool, just quietly going about our business. Only 3 points off 1st place, other teams getting all the plaudits but not pulling away from us.

I quietly fancy us to have a really good season. Confident that we finish no lower than 3rd, we’ll see what happens though. Luton away and Brentford at Anfield next. Just keep winning games and let’s look at the league table in New Year.

Liverpool is doing very well, especially when you consider that their squad is certainly no better than last year. But the other clubs (especially the Spurs) are also holding up much better this year, but perhaps it's also due to City's weak season. By the way, as expected, City beat Man Utd easily today.

Although a lot of people would have thought this at the beginning of the season, I feel that many think differently now.
Our new midfield is way more creative and dynamic, and Firmino wasn't playing that much anyway so his minutes are easily replaced.

This Liverpool feels much better than last year's and at this point I'd say that we're looking at a team that is upgraded by a lot. Szoboszlai for example is a player who I've wanted for a very long time - pure class in the heart of our midfield that can last 90 minutes of high tempo every game.

@jayce Im rooting for you to be consistent this season. Well you know that you flop abit after halfway of the season so if you could be atleast consistent and get that top 3 spot atleast than that would be a good ( considering that you'll need decent amount of cash next year, you should try your best in all those competition lol  Roll Eyes )
...

Haha yeah, referring to the last year which I was quite good in the first half of the season, and then I went down to 21st in the end! Just couple points away of the rewarded spots Grin Hope this season be nice to me, and yeah I indeed need monies for my plan next year. Thanks for reminding me to be more serious in this tourney lol.

About the last night game, I know Man Utd is not their best shape, but oh man that was humiliating. Have no idea why I ended up favoring them to win the league Cheesy I know it's just a free bet, but still..

quite a round, and United was really drawned at their own stadium
we fought a big win against West Ham, DCL scored his 50th goal for Everton, but it will all be non-important if Everton gets 12 point deduction, which is proposed

hard to believe that we can be 12 point above relegation line, but not impossible task

Congrats on the yellow cap, put it all on United and Chelsea next game Wink

I totally agree LFC_Bitcoin, People are writing about Spurs being historical (but they robbed you a 3 pointer), Arsenal being title challengers, even Newcastle despite them dropping many points but weirdly not much expectation of Liverpool. I think they need to see Liverpool beat City, Arsenal first...

£1 billion spent under four managers in a single year does not seem like a project to me; it sounds like an experiment gone bad. Who cares about a 7-year contract when the wages they receive is based on team performance? If you gave these jerks another season, we'd have more managers than points.

I didn't know this about Chelsea at all. I know most teams give you bonus on performance, but not salary on performance. So are you saying like all these figures are wrong? And how do they know how much they get? What if manager never plays them or they get injured, surely they must know their basic salary like any normal job and not rely on bonuses?

West Ham showed total misery in performance yesterday without removing anything to Everton who totally deserved the win and it is becoming a very bitter team when playing away from Goodison Park as most of their victories during this season are when playing away.

With this performance from Everton I don't think it will be that impossible to be 12 points above relegation zone, they just need to keep building on this momentum and the results will surely come.

Only the players' salaries are connected to team performance, so as long as the team meets its season objectives, everything will be OK. The bonus is determined by each player's individual performance.

They are unable to sign new contracts for the next 7-8 years of their prime, thus their salaries have been floated.

Oh wait, I didnt know free bet could last that long. I thought free bets have their own expiry date and it needs to be settled before that wasnt it.

Well actually that was really expected from me eventhough I'd love to see them win but its kinda impossible. We've been pretty bad and the best outcome that I could have imagined as a fans would be 0-0 for the game but that moment was ruined after Haaland's 2nd goal because there is no coming back from that especially when City really pressured us that bad

If the team can build good momentum in both competitions like City did last season, they can better themselves overall and make it difficult for teams to play against them.
Out of the 5 premier league titles City has won, I think they got to the semi final of the UCL in 3 or 4 of those occasions.

- Jay -
You picked maybe the only team in the world that makes your thesis float Smiley

City and Guardiola are known for their rotation policy and having the longest bench in the world. I agree with you that City can use those games to build momentum but City is in a league of its own.

Yeah, have to back Trofo here. Europe brings experience and competitiveness -- that's good for player development. But it's more the revenue from those that help a club grow in depth, to increase statistical likelihood to win, rather than on a few overperforming players.

Fatigue is real. Liverpool took their 2022 season all the way trying to win the quadruple and just lost out on Europe after extreme fatigue the next season. It wasn't the first time that happened to them, either.

Everton, a loose example of what non-Europe involvement can do for league stability -- never qualifying for Europe but finishing 6-8th place every season from 2010-2015... then they got 5th, and qualified for Europe.

The moment a thin squad had to compete in many more games, they dropped to 11th 2 seasons running, lost out of Europe, got in again, bit those two appearances just wiped off stability, they've been sliding down since -- because they didn't expand the way a club should. I think of Leeds the same way a decade before that.

Still don't really get it but it still sounds very lucrative to me, considering it's all so-so players for millions a year maybe playing maybe not. I mean, I wouldn't want that but plenty of footballers do.

I can confirm freebets have 3 days expiry, but you can use it on any game any day in the future. Many times I use freebet for games taking place a few weeks away Smiley

Okay let me explain the contract this way;

1.If Bob performs well individually and meets his season targets (goals and assists) for his bonuses, he will receive them regardless of whether the team is relegated or not.

2. If the club fails to fulfil its season objectives, Bob's salary will be decreased but he will still receive his individual performance bonuses.

This is how the entire contract is laid out. Only when the team does well do the players' wages increase automatically.

Brentford does it again, I think this is their 3rd consecutive win at Stamford Bridge. That alone is telling so much about the worst 1 billion dollar team in football's history.
I wonder what happens next there - will they keep pushing this or will they change strategy? If they change it, who will take all these players on lucrative 7-year contracts?

I have never seen such incompetence on a elite sports level. I feel that an average kid with Football Manager would have put together a much more balanced team with more quality.

Chelsea remind me of Leeds in the late 90’s to early 00’s. They are gambling with the clubs future by putting players on these stupid contracts.

All it takes is 3-4 seasons of poor form, no Europe and all of a sudden they could be in real trouble.
Chelsea are not too big to go bust.

The project isn't progressing as quickly as we had planned, and I'm fuming at everyone, but I still believe that the early injuries wrecked our game plan because the entire process was built on James, Chilwell, and Nkunku. We became a shell of ourselves after Chilwell and James were injured, forcing the coach to change Colwill from CB to LB and Cucurella to RB.

How do you spend that much money without a proper striker? We created a lot of scoring chances last season but no one took them, and we went on a shopping spree without signing a world-class striker.

When I see Jude Bellingham's performance at Real Madrid I get very sad for Liverpool. If Liverpool were able to convince the player I think they would have been able to become the champions very comfortably. My favourite for the Ballon d'Or next year is Bellingham already now. Chelsea's game against Brentford in the first half wasn't bad. However they played really terrible in the second half. They can't get rid of middle positions in the standings if they continue like this.

Liverpool was the perfect club for Bellingham's legacy to develop - especially under Klopp.
That's why I was so pissed that we missed on the CL spots this season. With CL secured we might have stood a chance whereas without it it was clear from the start that we simply aren't in the race at all.

It's incredibly hard for a club like Liverpool to bring a player in his prime from Madrid, so that ship has sailed forever.

Liverpool had him on their radar for months, but the transfer fee and wages were far too high for a 20-year-old midfielder, and Liverpool were unwilling to go that path. I don't blame Liverpool for withdrawing. They made the correct choice.

In addition, at Real Madrid, Bellingham plays more offensively and occasionally as a false 9. We know Klopp would have used him in a deep midfield role or maybe as a DM.

Bonus point: The premier is way too intense.

To relief some Chelsea fans and also to show how bad is also Manchester United doing this years, i share with you this one.

He would have thrived in Liverpool, but I feel Real Madrid is a much better team for his development and ambition as a player. Madrid is a team with a ruthless winning mentality and he is growing to feel the skin he has found himself in.
I forgot it was EFL cup week and placed my bets ahead of time, rather than wait for the outcome of today's matches. I barely change ky picks cause I want to trust my first instinct, so whatever happens tonight I will go with my original picks.

I am hoping there will be no upsets.

He looks like he could become one of the greats. I was disappointed at the time but would we have been able to sign Szoboszlai, Mac Allister and Gravenberch if we got Jude? I dunno if 3 really good players > 1 world class player? I think the wages were a factor too. Maybe i’ve been brainwashed by FSG and using copium but I think we are a better team with the three we got than if we only got Bellingham. Imagine Henderson and Fabinho were still here but we got Bellingham.

Any way, I guess no point lusting for what we don’t have. Let’s batter Luton on Sunday and continue our good form. Hopefully Arsenal drop points this weekend, won’t be easy for them away at Newcastle especially after they battered Man Utd last night. Confidence will be high for the Toon Army.
